7 parks in 5 days with 4 kids – A survival story!

What a great picture of everyone together! In spite of your "mistakes", it sounds like some fun was had. I'm glad John finally found the hot dog! I will be amazed if any of my kids ever fall asleep in any of the parks when we go.

So, you didn't really do the world showcase with the kids? Carmella is really excited about the World Showcase, so we definitely need to make time in our day for that.

Yes we did have fun! It's just that looking back, I really wish we had forseen some of the mistakes!! But we did learn a lot too. It would've been really easy to have Noah eat his hot dog meal at AK....so we never make that mistake again! If we see a Disney hot dog, we grab it!!! And we also don't worry about timing so much. If I had Epcot all over, we would've hit Test track and Soarin', then just EXPLORED the world showcase and any of the "fun places" like the one in Spaceship Earth. We would've had much more fun just exploring there, rather than making sure to hit this before this time, etc, etc.

OH, WELL! :confused3 No use wondering about what we would've done because it's over! But it's funny that I've already recreated it in my mind!!! :rotfl: Definitely remember that Epcot is REALLY spread out compared to the other parks.....we had forgotten that!!!

Love the sleeping with Mickey photo - so cute! I am sorry your Epcot visit was so rocky! I think FutureWorld's park hours are so confusing - they are always listed as closing at 7pm except on EMH nights but most of the major attractions stay open until WS closes at 9pm. Innoventions and a few things like that close early but not all of Future World.

Looking forward to your DHS report!

Hi Jen! That's exactly what had happened -- we had seen that posted, but it wasn't really true and we really just should've headed out to what we WANTED to see, rather than what we thought we shouldn't miss -- KWIM? It's just frustrating because with just a few simple changes (duh...like flipping Noah's meals) it would've been a lot better! (And I felt so badly about having Brian trek all over the world for a weiner!)

Yes, going to try to start on Day 4 ASAP so we can turn this thing around!! :rotfl: Much better experience coming up after we got some sense knocked into us!! :rotfl:

OMG..............you're already on page 5

I don't think I even said 'Welcome back' yet!!!!

I can't wait to go back and catch up but I'm leaving myself on Thursday so it may have to wait until I get back next week. You should be done by then right :lmao:

Looking forward to hearing all about it :goodvibes

We wake up the next morning with our mistakes behind us (hardy har!)! So what are we going to do today?
1. Not let John eat only doughnuts for breakfast
2. Bring a backup just in case we can’t find a Disney hot dog for Noah!
3. Scratch the schedule and GO WITH THE FLOW!!!!!

It’s a gorgeous, sunny Florida morning with no humidity! BEAUTIFUL! Birds are chirping, fountain is pumping and all the squirrels are greeting us…..even the albino squirrel is out! (Has anybody else caught sight of the albino squirrel at GKTW? BTW, all of the squirrels are super friendly and will practically walk right up to you!)

We get a slow start, but soon find fun down the way – it’s horseback riding day!

Everybody rode except Ella, who got a hat and certificate anyhow! (She apparently did not get the memo this morning about it being a “no whining” day!!! )

Boys in their clone trooper shirts – Melinda, they get SOOOO many comments on their awesome shirts today!!

I love this pic of Abby…..

Why didn’t somebody tell me how ridiculous I looked in that HAT?!?!

After riding, we head up to breakfast ……..

Disneypics-Beth146.jpg

Jennifer—Abby preferred to wear her Hannah vest with the purple side out – that girl and her “fashion” opinions! I’m quite sure she’ll drive me mad by the time she is a teenager! Well my mom made it happen, and she absolutely loves that outfit – she has worn it twice already since we’ve been back home! Thank you!

After breakfast…..of course….we have to have a few rides on the carousel!! Even Auntie had a go round with the kids this time!
Disneypics-Beth148.jpg

We had to exchange video camera batteries at House of Hearts so while Brian did that, we took some quick pics of the village – it was soooo beautiful that morning!

We then pack up and head out for our destination…….super excited for some FUN!!!!

Next up: We’re off….Disney Hollywood Studios….OR BUST!!!

No "or bust" allowed:laughing: I think you look "cool" with your hat on! Yay for Auntie riding on the Carosel. I love the horse riding pics. Ty has told me he is NOT going to ride the horses:( I hope he changes his mind. He is afraid of falling off.

Can't wait for more:banana:

Awesome update!

I didn't know GKTW had a garden! And...after all of these years on the DIS, I had NO idea that Future World attractions stayed open till 9:00 PM. :rotfl:

Learn something new every day!

Great updates! Keep em coming! :)

I am so glad she likes the outfit. Not a problem with the purple out, it looks great that way too. My sister-in-law (about to turn 13) is the same way, so I completely understand!

Loving the reports so far. Can't wait for more.

Tonya --John said he wasn't interested either -- but there he was! ;)

Maroo -- They said it was just a few attractions that close at 7pm...but the sign at the parking attendant said 7pm! Go figure!

Thanks for understanding the mentality! ;) She just loves it! I haven't even put it away yet...it goes straight from laundry to being worn! Yes, that also demonstrates how often I put away the clean laundry! :rolleyes1

More fun fun coming up at DHS!

Can't wait to hear more...I'm excited to hear about your day at DHS, as that is one of the parks we are really looking forward to! Those are great pics from around the village!

Laura,
Not to ruin the surprise but we LOVED Hollywood Studios! I probably will have to break it up into at least 2, maybe 3 installments! 1st one done today, hopefully. I really need Courtney's pics for the rest, and she'll be home this weekend. We're going to try to consolodate all the pics then. She took MUCH better pics than I did!!! :thumbsup2

It was one of our favorite parks, that's for sure!

What? You mean there are actually people that put clean laundry away?

Look forward to more!

Hi guys,
Sorry for the delay!

I just got some of Courtney's pictures and have updated a few posts -- mainly Epcot. I'm working on DHS and there is a lot to say and show you! I'll see court on Sunday and we'll be consolidating all of our pics....so hopefully I can get back on track soon!!!

Best,

I dont know what happened but somehow I didnt subscribe to this and have been missing it all. Im all caught up now and you have done a great job. I so glad you guys seem to be having a blast! Cant wait for the next installment.

Okay, so I just figured out why I haven't been getting updates - I wasn't subscribed!:scared1: Problem solved, though. We made lots of mistakes, too, and it is what it is, I guess. I have no true regrets because our mistakes just led to more time at GKTW, which isn't bad at all! I just wish I knew for sure that we'd get back down there as a family to do some things differently.

At any rate, I'm loving your TR, and I can't wait for the DHS pictures and stories!:goodvibes

Sooo, as I was saying......

We were soooo excited for our day at Hollywood Studios! We got there late (around 11am), but that was par for the course for us! We headed in to get the stroller. We still had the front/back stroller, which was really only good for one kid. Our kids are on the big side (go figure!) so each of the parks were nice enough to give us a double park stroller. It had been working fine, since even the “big kids” would get tired and we could rotate them around.

Well, at Hollywood studios, all the kids are milling around me and looking at the Mickey ears while I get the stroller. The lady at the desk sees the kids and asks me if it would be easier if she gave us TWO double strollers! I had already mentioned that we had a stroller of our own, but she insisted it was no trouble at all – so, POOF! We had a girls stroller and a boys stroller and then STILL had the front/back one for naps, and to carry the cooler, etc. that we were always toting around!

Yes, our caravan is getting even bigger – but this worked out so well and really contributed to making this park easier than the day before!!

A token pic of us in front of the “HAT”!

DHS-hat.jpg

Our next step (based on yesterday’s adventures) was to check on the place we had a ressie for lunch. It was the 50’s diner. There were “manager” types milling about outside who were absolutely wonderful. I had already spoken to Chef Cheryl (head chef of Hollywood studios) who was awesome and had really gone up and beyond to get me nutritional info in the first place. We confirmed that the menu looked good to all and yes, it had a HOT DOG! I just knew thing were going to go well today!! We said thank you and said we’d be back for lunch.

First stop --- what the boys had been most excited about – the STAR WARS area!!

bigthing.jpg

In case you’re just joining us, all our kids (the boys in particular) are star wars CRAZY!!! Jedi Training was taking kids for the next show, but after asking a CM, we were told that wish kids don’t get any priority and that the line was so long that we probably wouldn’t make it into the next show. Rather than dwelling on it, we hit the ride just next to it….

startours.jpg

ship.jpg

We all rode and it was a pretty fun simulator ride. Even the girls like Star Wars so they had fun too! In order to leave the ride, you have to go through the Star Wars Store. This was the first time we really bought any souvenirs and boy did we buy some! Both boys bought custom lightsabers for $20. They are pretty cool – light up, make sounds, and they get to custom make it. A good buy, esp since we saw some cheapo ones being sold at night for $12.

noahlightsaber.jpg

johnlightsaber.jpg

Abby and Ella bought Polly Pocket sets with Padme and Leia in them --- very cool, and something we’ve never seen before. Like I said, my kids are star wars crazy so we all had fun!

Noah also bought a “jedi mickey” which would be the first of several “mini mickeys” that he would collect! So much for the kid that wasn’t really into Mickey before this trip!

With Noah’s ears and Ella’s glasses, doesn't Auntie just look like the best Auntie ever???

auntiewithears.jpg

So we come out and the Jedi Training show is just ending. We catch it and of course what comes out of the boys “can we PLEASE do this?!?!” A different CM was now working it and as soon as she saw Noah’s button, she said, stay right here. I saw her on the phone, then came back and asked me what our boys names were. HOORAY!!!!

The next show was still 30 min away, but they took the kids in about 20 min before the show. Brian and I stayed to wait with the boys, while Court and my mom took the girls to see the Muppets.

boyswaiting.jpg

To those of you who do the jedi training, it was hot and there is not a lot of shade. I kept going over to the boys and offering them water to drink. But the time went quickly and before long – the show had started!

darthvader.jpg

They asked the boys who they wanted to fight – Darth Vader or Darth Maul. John chose Darth Maul and so they put Noah with his brother, since Noah was one of the youngest padawans out there. Afterwards Noah said he wished he had gotten to fight Darth Vader because Darth Maul was FREAKY! I always thought the character was freaky, but this guy totally stayed in character – he scared the dickens out of me!!

darthmaul.jpg

As soon as I saw him, I wondered if Noah would really do what they asked him too – I might have head for the hills! So far so good – they were being “trained” to become padawans. Thank you again, Melinda, for the ORANGE shirts – I could always pick them out!

boysstarwars.jpg

Then it was time for their one on one with Darth Maul.

Noah went before John --- the moment of truth!

DHS-Noahstar1.jpg

DHS-Noahstar2.jpg

It was awesome!

noahfight.jpg

Take that, Darth Maul!

DHS-noahstar3.jpg

John was up next…….

DHS-Johnstar12.jpg

…and you’d think he’d been training for this forever!

DHS-Johnstar3.jpg

Darth Maul had some cool moves …

DHS-Johnstar4.jpg

But so did John!

DHS-Johnstar2.jpg

They each were given the title “Padawan” and got a certificate. The boys were thrilled and keep talking about it. They love looking at the pictures of them fighting him. Definitely worth the wait and very cool for any star wars fan!!

DHS-boyscertificates.jpg

By the time the show finished, it was time for lunch (already?!) We made our way back to the 50’s diner and had to wait a few minutes for our table. The boys were still reveling in their moments of glory!

johnwaitingtoeat.jpg

noahwaitingtoeat.jpg

(The guy in the Star Wars shop wisely suggested taping the ends of the lightsabers until leaving the park – imagine my appreciation for this tip!!)

Once we were seated, our server (“Mama”) was awesome! If you don’t know about this place, it is set up to be a home in the 50’s. They talk to you like you are one of the fam – with the same rules for all – clean your plates, eat your veggies, elbows off the table, etc.

“Mama” was awesome and made fun of Brian many times for something he would say.. she called him a “tattle tale” and such. The kids thought it was sooo funny! She actually fed the dad at the next table when he didn’t finish his green beans!

The food was plentiful and delicious – esp the GIANT onion rings! They were super accommodating with Noah – can’t say enough about them, really – they gave each of the kids a lightup tinkerbell or buzz lightyear to go home with. Needless to say, this place gets TWO THUMBS UP from us!

Courtney gets a “clean plate” sticker!

courtcleanplate.jpg

Ella gets a few herself!

ellastickers.jpg

After leaving we realize that there’s some action going on around the corner!!

Next up: Block Party funtastics!

The Jedi training looks awesome!!! :darth: What great pictures of the boys! Sounds like a great day at DHS. We are really looking forward to DHS...and it will be a Star Wars weekend then, too! I'm glad the second CM worked some magic for Noah.

Finally I am all caught up. Great TR :) love the pictures with Darth Maul. My kids and DH loved Star Wars, I on the other hand could take it or leave it.

Your DHS day looks so great! Im so glad the boys got to do the Jedi training and the 50s diner sounds awesome!

Glad DHS is going well! So nice of the ladies to give you the extra stroller! Love it when things go well!

Wow! Look at Star Wars training! I bet those boys had a great time! Darth Maul is quite freaky looking! I don't think I would want to fight them! I am anxious to see the new layout with the line. I am not a line person and Dallas is even less of a line person!!

I love the Prime Time Diner! Yummy!!! I am dreaming of some roast beef right now!
