Hi. My family and I have a 1-night room only stay, and a 7-night stay on the dining plan with 7-day park hoppers, at the WL (both ressies are the same room type) checking in on a Sunday and out 8 days later on a Monday. Right now, the 1-night room only is on the beginning of the stay. I did this because we're driving in, and we do not want to go into the parks the day we check in.

After further consideration, I think it would be better to switch the 1-night room only to the end of the stay so that we can utilize our dining plan upon check in, and so we would be able to go straight to the parks early Monday morning without having to stop by the front desk to get our tix and other package-related materials. In my mind this should work out fine because we plan to park hop Monday-Sunday (7 days). Since Sunday would be our "check out" day for the package stay, that should mean that any remaining ticket days and/or meal credits are good through the end of that day. Am I right about this? Would this work as I have planned, or is there something I'm missing?

This is strange you would ask this today. We are considering the same kind of thing.

Our reservation is through AAA so I have to wait until Monday to actually do something with ours.

We just got our plane tickets and decided to fly in the afternoon before our planned arrival day instead of leaving at the literal crack of dawn the following day.

I do not know whether to add a day to our plan (with dining) or to just make a separate one day reservation at the same resort.

We figured if we add a day we could always eat a CS meal at the resort when we get there and then save the TS credit to do a signature dining another day.

If we make a separate reservation for the night we arrive will we have to change rooms the next day?

Now about your problem. If you switch your 1 night reservation to the end of your stay you will still end up with the last day without a dining plan I think.

If you arrive on a Sunday and continue to have 7 days/nights on the plan then the plan would end on on the following Sunday night I think...maybe it would be good until Monday.....:confused3 :rotfl: ....and your room only reservation would have you checking in on Sunday and out on Monday???

Man the harder I think on this the more confused I am getting. We need some expert help here! :yay:

DzneyDreams- If reference to your question you tickets are good up to 14 days after first use of course unless you have used all of your days. As for you DDP credits they will expire at midnight on the day you check out from you package stay. And since your room only ressie is seperate from your package there is a possiblity that you may have to move to a different room so make sure you let them know when you check in that you have a room only ressie as well and hopefully they will make note of that so you don't have to move. This is just a possibilty as far as the room so don't panic.

Twende- If you make a room only ressie at the same resort you are staying at you may not have to change rooms either as long as you are of course staying in the same type of room. IMHO, I would just add the extra night to my package because the only extra cost you will be paying is the DDP and you thought of doing a CS when you get there and may be a meal on your last day or an extra credit to do a sig meal is worth it.

Just remember that the DDP is 1 credit for each cat. per night. I hope this is helpful info to the both of you. Have a Magical Day!

Thanks! No panic here on the POSSIBLE room change. I've done this many times before, but just never with the MYW + dining. (Just with 1-day stays before checking in on rented DVC points.) So far - knock on wood - we have never had to change rooms. Just as you said, we let the CM know at check in, and they took care of it. A couple of times we never even had to physically go to the front desk - they just took care of it over the phone.

I'm not at all concerned about Monday's dining since we are leaving very early that morning and will probably have breakfast on the road.

And as far as the meal credits, correct me if I am wrong, but I will be given a pool of snack/table/counter service credits that you can mix and match in any way until the day I check out of my package stay (Sunday). Right? I don't HAVE to use 1 of each per day if I choose not to. I can, for example, eat 2 TS meals on Monday and 2 CS meals on Tuesday. This is still the way it works, isn't it? Whatever is left on Sunday, is what I can use that day until midnight, correct?

You will be able to use your meal and snack credits until midnight of the day your package ends. They will have you check out and back in on your last day and they give you a new room key. You just use your old key with the meal plan on it until midnight to get your meals. For room charges and to get in and out of your room you use the new key. We did this last year. You can add days and features on your tickets anytime within 14 days of its first use.

Also. We are in the same situation this year. We got better air fare the day before our package starts. We added a day at the POP instead of moving our package. We don't get in until 7P so we will grab a bite at the airport. The POP is considerably less than the Poly since it is basically a check in and go to sleep, this was best for us. The next AM I have breakfast at Ohana so we can check in and enjoy the resort and meal plan all day.

You are correct. We usually start out being kind of stingy on our snack and cs credits so we don't use them up in the first few days and by the last to days we have about 6 days worth of snack and about 2 days of cs we still have to use. Talk being full but you really end up finding things that you would usually think to have. Have a great trip.

My apology to the OP for hijacking this topic, but I'm just curious about something. (I'm NOT upset at all - just curious.) Why do posts that have absolutely nothing to do with rates and codes/discounts keep getting moved by the mods from the resorts board to this board (as this one was)?

I posted a question on the resorts board a couple of days ago concerning CHECKING IN at my RESORT (WL) with a one-night only reservation on the beginning and/or end of my stay and it got moved to this board. AGAIN - the question had nothing to do with a rate or a code but more to do with resort-related specifics. Since when do check in/out or split stay related topics NOT apply to the resorts?

I'm really confused . . .

I wanted to find your post before I commented. Not a moderator or anything but this is what I think may be the reason...

While codes and rates may not be what you are discussing it seems to probably be a catch all place for how to book - what codes, what packages, what rates etc. Your question has nothing to do with your resort, but about the best way to book it. The resort board seems to be kept for discussion about particular resorts and its ammenities. Since so many questions posts are there that aren't really about the resort itself it's nice they have a sub board for it. I asked about something offered at one resort and they moved it to the attractions board since it was an attraction I guess. I'm thinking but it is something at a resort. Oh well atleast there is that nice little moved tag instead of just poof it's gone.
