Debating about doing this in June

Are the current rates a good deal or is it overpriced and I should wait till 2018

Just contemplating changing some vacation plans and I'm on the fence and what to do

Anybody do this cruise in the past and what do you think about it

I think the cruise on June 4th has a decent price for an inside stateroom. We paid $1,000 more than that for an inside on our 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Fantasy during Christmas break, if that gives any perspective.

"Overpriced" is subjective, as different travelers value different things. If you value your family cruising with Disney over any other line, this particular cruise is not overpriced. If you view DCL as just one cruise line choice among many others for your family, and do comparison price shopping, then you might conclude that it is overpriced in relation to other lines.

Prices will likely be higher next year, so if you want that itinerary via DCL and can afford the cruise & airfare, I'd go for it if I were in your shoes. I want to cruise the Magic to northern Europe someday, but am waiting until my son is older and can more fully appreciate it.

You can find some very good trip reports from people who have taken this cruise in the Trip Reports section of the Disney Cruise Board. Here is a link to one of them:

We are doing that cruise this June and we booked that cruise the same day the itineraries released and the prices are about the same. If you want to do that cruise do it now, you dont know if they will have the same itinerary next year.

We are on the June 4th cruise and we booked opening day as well. We have 2 connecting OV rooms for the 5 of us. I just checked the prices and they are very similar to what we paid on opening day. IMHO, I think the prices are pretty good and perhaps they will drop a bit after the PIF date, which is coming up. If you can get decent airfare, I would seriously consider booking this year instead of waiting. Who knows what the future holds.

I did this cruise last summer. It was wonderful. I can't gush enough. I would offer you a couple suggestions based on my experience. Plan a little time in Copenhagen. It's a wonderful city. We focused a lot on the Norway part and wish we had had more time in Copenhagen. That being said one of the best things we did was a Segway tour in Copenhagen. We saw all the highlights in a relatively short period of time. Very worthwhile. Also. Our favorite port was Geiranger. They were all lovely but Geiranger really stands out. Breath taking is not an exaggeration. Whatever you do take a tour or whatever but get to the top of Geiranger. The view is very very well worth it. This is truly the trip of a lifetime. Enjoy.

You can check Cruise Fish or Touring Plans. Both have cruise fare trackers you can use to see if the fare has gone up for the category you're interested in.

What excursion did you do in Geiranger?

We did the Disney Excursion "Views of Norway". The bus drive was nice as was the pit stop for coffee and pastry. Gorgeous photo ops at every turn. Plenty of time to stroll around port and shop and explore before and after the tour. I would recommend it highly.

Do you remember your other excursions?

We did the Lysefjord Cruise in Stavanger. It was ok. A nice boat ride. The stop for waffles was fun. Norway weather is unpredictable. Some people hike to pulpit rock at this port. I was glad we didn't as it was rainy the day we were there. We heard a man fell and broke his leg attempting that hike. Don't know if it was true but still! Norway was beautiful but I would disclose it rained a bit every day. It was no big deal. But it helps in planning for packing to know this. Norwegians say there is no such thing as bad weather just bad clothing. So plan accordingly. It didn't dampen our experience at all. You just have to roll with it.

Bergen is quite walkable as is Alesund. So we didn't do any excursions there. There was plenty to see just strolling around town. Get a map on the cruise or a guidebook and you should do just fine. I would suggest in Bergen you take the funicular up to Mount Floien. It is easy, Fun, breathtaking. And you can do it by yourself. You don't need to pay excursion fees to do this. It isn't free but I don't remember it being costly. It is very worth seeing and the ride itself is a treat!

As for Copenhagen. Here is the contact information I have for the Segway company we used. They were a close walk from Tivoli. Hope this helps. We loved it but our kids are older. They did a quick teaching roll around. Then we buzzed all around the city. Saw the Little Mermaid, Amalienborg Palace, Nyhavn and The Little Mermaid”,the Opera House and more. When we got back we had a complimentary beverage. I would encourage adults to try the beer! It rained a bit during our 2 hour trip and they went back and got us all rain coats. I cannot say enough good things about them! Our time in Copenhagen was short and we felt we at least got an overview. If I had it to do over I would have added a day or two to spend a little more time in Copenhagen.

Rated #1 Segway Tour in Copenhagen
Thank you so much, we are planning to do our own thing in Alesund and in Bergen I want to go to the Fantoft church in the morning and buy the Mt Floyen tickets online and go there after.
On Stravenger I think I am doing the Lysefjord cruise too and in Geiranger maybe Views of Norway.

Hello Everyone,
We booked this cruise last month. Cannot wait. The rates seem very reasonable given that Disney is a premium cruise line.
However, when I looked at Port Adventures on Disney site, there were very few left. We are Silver, and we will not have our chance to book until March.
Does anyone have any insight or suggestion?
Thank you.

Here is what we did with our teens--all DIY or booked online with tour company. We spent about $500 total on excursions.
Stavanger: boat tour to fjords--3 hrs long and an easy morning--right at the harbor where you dock. most were DCLers who also booked directly with the boat. under $150 for a family of 4 thru rodne.no.
Alesund: walked around town and then did the 418 step climb to the top of the mountain. Lots of 5 yr old doing it, great views, easy 1/2 day, free.
Geiranger-we did the bus to top of Mt D and also kayaking, but there is a tourist bus to 2 look out points that would be fine for a younger kids and there is also a 1 hr boat tour. For young kids, I might choose 2 stop look out shorter bus and boat tour and do something different in Stavanger (there are a few museums and the town is cute), if you do a boat tour in G. We used geirangerfjord.no for bus and kayak (DD and I did bus, DH/DS kayaked--kayaking was sold out on DCL--this was 1/2 the price and excellent--book ASAP, as it fills up. They will pick you up for free at the very small port--just ask).
Bergen, go off boat and walked around (raining). We went to Hanseatic Museum and then took the included shuttle to the Fishing museum, which would be excellent for kids-teens. We also had online tickets to take the funicular to the top of the mtn, but it was raining, so we skipped that. It was worth it to buy tickets online to skip the crowds, even though we didn't use them. We got one way--about $30 for family of 4. Having now been and talking to others on DCL, I would not change any of above. Perfect mix of cost-effective sightseeing and active stuff.
We LOVED the fjords cruise--great mix of ports, scenery and plenty of time to do all the fun DCL stuff. My 2 teens watched 7 movies that week-not b/c they were bored, but b/c of the easy availability (Mom did not have to drive them).

Thank you so much! Those are great suggestions. We might do just that!

Thanks, I am looking to book fjord cruise with the same company in Geiranger and maybe the bus tour too.
