I am assuming that booking anywhere other than our home resort for the Christmas 2008 break is impossible.

Does anyone know if this is the case?

Thanks,

I haven't a clue since we are new owners. We will be trying to book Christmas/08 next month at our home resort and according to what people say on here I have to phone day by day to get my ressie and pray to the gods if I want concierge! I would say it is not impossible but probably not easy depending how long you are there for and you may have to change resorts during your stay or wailist:goodvibes

You may find openings at Christmas. It gets more difficult around New Years. A few years ago we went at Christmas time and were surprised to find availability at 7 months. Call on the first day that you can make a reservation and ask MS how it looks. If you are looking for OKW or SSR, I think you'll find something even through New Years. BTW, your dog is so cute! It looks like such an angel.

I don't believe that your request is impossible at 7 months. We made a last minute decision (in October, I think) to try and get a few nights at WDW for New Years. I called knowing that my chances were slim to none, and we were able to book a 1 BR at OKW for 3 nights. I know that this is certainly not the norm, but if I can get something at 2 months, surely you can get a room at 7 months as long as you are flexible with the size of your unit.

Good luck!:goodvibes

I agree that "impossible" is not the correct word.

I think it's important to set your expectations that it will be challenging, especially at smaller resorts like BCV or VWL. I'd book the home resort at 11 months and if the other resort frees up at 7 months, consider it a bonus. But don't be disappointed since it's a bit of a long shot to begin with.

Good luck! :)

In 2006, we rented points. The owner was able to get us Sun-Thur nite during xmas week and he booked it for us in June 2006. We stayed at OKW in a studio for the first 3 nights and then we stayed in a 1br for the remaining 2 nights. The studios were booked for 12/27 and 12/28 that year. OKW was the only resort with availability 6 months out.

Hope this helps.

I agree with Granny. "impossible" isn't the right word, but I sure wouldn't count on it.

Book your home resort at 11 months and then try for a day-by-day swap (or waitlist) at 7 months.

Last year, we ended up learning in the week before christmas that we were going to have a week in which we could travel just after new years.

I made my first phone call looking for lodging on Dec. 22nd and managed to get ASMusic (for cash) for Dec. 31st, BCV for Jan 1&2, and SSR for Jan 3&4.

Sure, we stayed at 3 resorts in only 5 days. But, we only spent one really long day (8 am to 2 am) in the parks, so, the different resorts gave us more easy areas to explore.

We booked today dec 18 and we leave sunday the 23rd through the 29th

miracles are possible

Depends on what you want to reserve. VWL, no chance. BWV standard or BW view, no chance. AKV concierge, no chance.

OKW, probably. SSR, probably.

BCV, maybe. BWV preferred view, maybe.
