We will be making 11 month resrevations at our home resort (SSR) for next summer for some period surrounding July 4th. We will also be making our Frequent Flier reservations at the same time... so our travel dates will be fixed.

How tough is July 4th period at the 7 month window? We probably don't have a huge preference of which resort we visit... but we do like to try different resorts for each trip. We would generally want to spend all 12 nights at one resort because we find it to be a pain to move rooms mid vacation.

We will be there this year and booked it about a month ago but we had to get a 1br and we are at BWV. We were very happy to get that. Good luck.

If your home resort is SSR, you can always book it at 11 months and get your FF tickets at the same time.

At 7 months, you can call MS to try to change to another resort. If, by chance, there is nothing else available at 7 months, you will still have your reservation at SSR, so nothing is lost!

The "big" decision you will have to make is whether you will wait till you can transfer the entire reservation at once, or call on a day-by-day basis to transfer your reservation, since you don't want to switch resorts mid-stay. ;)

We have traveled during the week of July 4th several times. It's interesting to note that it is usually very busy on the 4th, but not directly before or after. I think maybe a lot of local people make a short trip of the holiday? Just what we've experienced in the past. Good luck, I'm sure it will all work out for you!

Last year we stayed at BWV 1bdrm for 7 nights STANDARD VIEW - we do not own at BWV I made the ressie about 5 1/2 months out - I think you stand a good chance to be able to try something new :goodvibes

I am going SSR this year's 4th July for 4 nights (3rd - 7th) and I reserved 2 two-bedrooms and I made the ressie late January...

I didn't have a problem reserving the room... And the CM told me that they have good availability, but that was in January...

I bet you won't have much of problem to reserve room at 7 month mark...

Disneyaholic,

This is exactly what we are planning to do. Sorry if I did not make myself clear. We will be perfectly happy at SSR; we like all of the DVC resorts a lot. :) If we can try a new one... great, otherwise we are still delighted.

I would consider one resort change mid-stay... but we would prefer not having to move. I will also put in for an II exchange into any DVC resort since it is MUCH cheaper to exchange in... rather than use our DVC points. A week long stay in a 2BR costs about $350 plus exchange fees if I use my non-DVC resort. If we do get an exchange... then that would dictate where we would prefer to spend any additional days, so we would not have to move resorts.

Thanks to everyone for the replies.

/Jim
