7 month window booking question

Hi all,

I need some help here. It seems that the resort we are trying to book, is always sold out on the booking day... meaning, if my 7 month window opens on June 16th, then only the 16th is not available. The 17th through the 23rd is available. I have looked at this for the past 5 days and each day, only the window date is not available.

What am I missing? or what is the trick to getting my reservation?

This has been reported often. Unknown if it's a system error or if the inventory is actually booked.

You can start booking a day early then drop the first day and add at the end if necessary.

More than likely what you see is that there is 1 room available and someone else is faster than you in getting it as the 7 month window. Depending on which room you are looking for it could also be that there is a problem in the availability calendar but most likely there is only a very limited number of rooms and you are simply not the fastest.

Another possibility is people walking reservations and calling in later in the day to extend to the next day and then in the morning you find it unavailable.

There must be quite a few people looking to book the same resort and room you are booking-- are you booking at 8 am? Or else the availability tool doesn't show availability past the first day, since if the first day is available, the rest are too.

Clever thought beer dave.... doesn't make sense to me neither....

I recently notices some of the availability calendars showing all booked a couple days into the "plus seven"......I can't believe that people are really getting the one day and then getting to the screen again at 8 am the next day to book the next... but it seems so....

It is also sometimes the case that resort availability can move around a lot - especially between October and December. That's the heaviest booking time, popular resorts are sometimes booked before the seven month window and availability can disappear fast once the window opens. But then, people start moving their reservations around. A Boardwalk owner might grab an open room at BLT, leaving sudden availability at the BW, which will cause SSR owner to grab the BLT room, freeing up SSR space. But for that to happen, the logjam of availability needs to move somewhere - which can take a few days. Sometimes things are available at six weeks three months because walkers clear the room or because of people moving around that weren't available at seven month.

That first day can go within seconds after 8:00am. I've been booking my 11 month window for BWV for October and by 8:01 am the first night is gone. You gotta be quick now days. I was finally successful after missing it one day and booking the next day then grabbing my first day after it became available again. It's getting harder each year to book trips now.

So I've been watching october for AKV club level-- until recently, the day of 11 month booking was unavailable, but the plus 7 (6) was wide open--- then about a few days ago, unavailability was to the second day of booking (plus 1). Now today the studio shows no availability through most of the plus 7. So-- the availability tool does show what is booked beyond the first day. This means that some people ARE booking one day at a time-- when each day at 8 am the day of becomes unavailable but the rest is still open. Can people really be that uninformed?

That's not what it means. Some people may only be booked through today's booking date. One person may have seven days booked starting on the first, another beginning on the third, and another on the sixth. So, three rooms are booked on the seventh, but only two on the eighth.

If the first day of the booking window is available, that room is available for the next seven. At 8 am it is no longer available, but the next seven are. That means someone booked it for that day alone. The next day, when the first day also disappears at 8 am, but none of the plus seven does, it again means that someone booked the room for one night.

even if it is 5 rooms available on the first day-- if 5 people booked at least 2 days, the room would not show available for the next day. Someone has to be booking one day. No way around it. This is based on all rooms prior to the day of booking being booked, as is the current case with AKV club studio in october.

Four people might all have reservations that end on that day. So, it's available for one person to book forward, but the day is blocked for anyone else, and there will be four rooms available to book tomorrow. It does not mean someone booked it for that day alone.

Well, I still don't get it... We have been trying every day now for a week and it is the same thing each day. The 7 month window day alone is booked. The 6 days after that are available. Which does me no good as I have to book the first day to do anything.

I could understand if there were no availability into the week after the 7 month window... But it is only that day???? Ugh.....

So on your "tomorrow", there will be 4 rooms available---- the next day, if the availability is only for THAT day, at least one person booked one day.
I'm done trying to explain this to you.

Since I've been updating on this thread-- an interesting thing happened yesterday-- In the AM, sept of 16 had 6 nights available AKV CL studio, and about 15 CL 1 bedroom-- Oct 16 had a few of each, but not much more booked into the plus seven than a couple days. At the end of the day, ALL September and October nights were completely booked. (one studio middle of october available) The october bookings included ALL of the plus seven days. That's a lot of booking for one day, especially considering there were a lot of "holes" to be booked. Maybe this is where DVC is taking rooms for servicing? Maybe it is a glitch in the availability tool? I didn't check today yet.

What are you trying to book? I don't understand it either---

I'm sorry you can't see it. There may be one day available and one person books it, but that doesn't mean they booked a single day. They may have booked seven days, but all those future days still have plenty of availability. Only today has all five rooms booked, and the next seven have four, or three or two or one. Just because today is full doesn't mean someone booked one day.

We assume that the RAT is working like it should and that online booking is working like it should showing correct availability. According to MS they also have had difficulty with correct inventory availability.

At least one post indicated that a manager was able to book a reservation when the system showed no inventory availability.

My vote is that the system sucks and can't be trusted to be correct.

We have a winner! I just checked the avail for AKV club and it all has returned to what it was prior to last weekend! And there you have it, folks.

My quest is finished.
