I have a 1 bedroom ressie for SSR 3rd week of April (spring vaca in Mass). My wife now wants to try AKV Concierge to do the special morning breakfast/safari. My 2 kids want to go to the BCV for SAB. I'd be happy at the SSR myself where we are good to go and is our home resort for the peace and quiet lol. First, if I have a confirmed ressie at SSR will that remain intact if we request one of the others and have to waitlist and then it doesn't come through? I hope we don't have to waitlist as this is a very high priced time of year point wise but I expect we will. Second, which do you think has a higher probability to get? I'm thinking that BCV would be more likely and I don't think I could make a request for both. Third, are there 1 bedroom concierge rooms at AKV? I guess I would probably like to try the AKV and stay on my wifes good side lol and it would probably be a one time thing as the points are again tremendously high especially for concierge at this time of year. Any suggestions?? Should I try the day by day ressie thing, I don't know why but that makes me nervous to do. I would be very unhappy to to day by day and get to 3 or 4 days into it and then not be able to get one day and have to move or go to a non-concierge room if we did AKV. The more I think about it I think BCV and calling to make the whole ressie at once is our best bet. Any feedback/help/advice is greatly appreciated by the all knowing DIS DVC community, thanks. :thumbsup2

Oh almost forgot. If I do the day by day approach, will I have to give up my SSR ressie the first day I start that I'm thinking I will. Thanks again.

That depends - do you have enough points to keep the SSR reservation and still make the AKV or BCV reservation? If not, then you will have to cancel the SSR reservation to get the points to make the other reservation. If you are doing day by day, this can be risky / stressful if one or more of the days isn't available and you have to waitlist. (You could end up moving back and forth between resorts during your stay).

I think of the two, BCV would be the more likely. However, if you would be willing to take any AKV 1 bedroom rather than limit yourself to the concierge 1 bedroom category, I think AKV would be more likely to have availability at 7 months. JMHO. YMMV.

There are exactly five 2 bedroom lock off units in the concierge category. If they rent all five of them as 1 bedrooms and studios, there would be a max of five 1 bedroom units available in the concierge category. (There will probably be less as I think they will at least allow 1 of the units to be reserved as a 2 bedroom). Will any 1 bedrooms be available at 7 months? IMHO, odds are not in your favor - but again, JMHO. YMMV.

It's really up to you - if you can't accept the risk of moving back and forth if a waitlisted day doesn't come through, then you need to waitlist for the whole vacation and hope for the best. Waitlisting for the whole thing at once reduces your chances of getting what you want, but it is a lot less stressful, LOL (especially if you really like your home resort, anyway).

Oh almost forgot. If I do the day by day approach, will I have to give up my SSR ressie the first day I start that I'm thinking I will. Thanks again.
Again, it depends on whether you have enough points to hold the SSR reservation until the new one is made. Ideally, you just make the new reservation (on a day by day basis), waitlist for any days that aren't immediately available and then when all is set at AKV or BCV, you cancel the SSR reservation. Many members do not have enough points to do that. They have to cancel a day at SSR to book a day elsewhere - if you have to do that, that's where your own personal ability to handle "waitlist stress" comes in. :teeth:

Good luck!.

P.S. Maybe your wife will understand / change her mind if you explain how few concierge rooms there really are. It's very unlikely any will be available at 7 months for a popular period.

As Easter is early in 2008 (March 23) you are NOT in the really high points zone in the 3rd week in April.

The whole month of April '08 is Magic season 2nd highest points for any rooms anywhere from what I saw at the member site. 313 pts. for 1 bedroom at AKV concierge and 270 pts for 1 bedroom at BCV, both for 1 week.

Yea, I won't have enough points to hold both ressies at once so I guess I will have to try and do the whole week at once. Thanks for your responses so far much appreciated.

If anyone else has insight for chances to get ressies at the 7 month mark at either AKV concierge or BCV for the end of April don't be shy lol.

I really don't think there is any way of knowing what your chances will be without calling. I will tell you that I was able to book a 2 bedroom concierge at AKV in May about two weeks ago. Good luck.
