Please let me know if this is do-able...:confused3:surfweb:

I have 160 pts at BLT and 60 pts at AK and I book a 200 pt. BLT reservation at the 11 mo owner period. I choose to pay the overage with cash, to confirm the reservation. If I call back 7 months prior to my reservation, can I replace my cash payment (just a deposit at this point) with my AK points?

Thanks for your help with this!

It will depend entirely on availability from the DVC inventory at that time. You will not be able to just replace cash reservations for DVC point reservations since they come from different inventory.

I would reserve any weeknights using your BLT points and reserve the weekends using cash. Weekends are more likely to be available at 7 months for point reservations - although you may still find the cash reservations to be a good deal vs using your BLT points. Be sure to do the math.

Enjoy! :)

I don't believe you can do that. I would book what you can at BLT with those points and something at AKV for the days you are lacking at BLT. Make sure you only use the amount of points(or less) at AKV. This way you have someplace to stay for your entire trip. Then at 7 months, call and see if you can add what you need at BLT, if so, the AKL reservation can be cancelled.
Good luck!

You could always borrow from the next year for the points you need to make the full reservation. But you couldn't put them back at seven months. If there is no waitlist for the villa type and location that you have, you should be able to trade out points to use the AKV points at seven months. But you would need to trade out current year points and bank them into the next year. You can't unborrow your points. And if you are past your banking deadline, you couldn't bank them anyway.

You could bank the AKV points and have double points the next year for AKV at 11 months.

As noted, there are several obstacles to your plan. You can't convert cash reservations to points but you can replace cash reservations with a points reservation later if you get it. IF MS has rooms for rent for cash, you could book some days on cash and link them but it's unlikely they'll have the more desirable views so you'd be limited on view types. You cannot just pay the difference though. I agree that the best option for most in this situation is simply to borrow the BLT points and use the AKV for another trip. Or you could plan a split stay and try to change over at the 7 month window. Good luck.
