Let me preface this by saying I enjoy the ride, it's cute. But I don't get why 90% of the rope droppers run to Seven Dwarfs. There are better rides in the park.

Anyone care to explain it to me?

It's new and not everyone has ridden it.
People like it more than you do.
Children want to ride it and parents don't want a long wait.

It's the one with the longest standby line. Except maybe for Anna & Elsa.

It's so new, most of the people have never been on it yet. Or it just gives people the opportunity to have the morning jog that they missed.

Give it another 18 months and it will probably have the same 10-20 minute waits like Under the Sea does two years after opening.

I don't think it'll go that far just because 7DMT doesn't have the capacity that Under the Sea does- Under the Sea moves people through at an insane rate

I doubt that. Soarin is almost 10 years old and still has long lines. Same with Toy Story.

Those are completely different ride experiences in two parks with a very small number of popular attractions.

Back in the Magic Kingdom, Haunted Mansion is a 40+ year old clam shell ride yet it's more popular with longer waits than Under the Sea. 7DMT is a slow, tame, short kiddie coaster that I believe will fade out to SM & BTMR.

It's new. That's why the line is still long but it's already shorter than it was when it first opened and often shorter than Peter Pan.

I have to admit, that was the first ride I went on when I got to the park. I was on Vacation with my parents and my mom wanted to do this first thing before the lines got to long. I think we may have waited ~20 min. It was a pretty good ride but I liked Big Thunder Mountain a lot more.

We rode it for the first time yesterday. I'm glad we had a FastPass as it was pretty weak and the standby time was 70 minutes. Here's our ride photo. I think I was asking her what she wanted to do for dinner tonight. We love this photo!

Most people still haven't rode it yet so they are rushing to ride the new attraction for the first time.

Everyone rushes to 7DMT first because they know that everyone else will rush to 7DMT first.

Call it the TSMM effect.

Oh yes, not upset in the least. Just trying to understand the psychology of it.

We'll be riding it for the first time tonight at MVMCP. I'll admit it's at the top of our priority list. After we've ridden it 2 or 3 times it will get filed in its spot on the priority list. But because it's something new it's at the top for tonight. We have a FP before 7pm and will ride it again later when the crowds thin out.

For us:

First day, it was new and family wanted to try it.
Second day, family loved it and wanted to do it again.

Rope drop seems to be the shortest line of the day. We had no plans to stay until park closing. One night was a party night, so that would not have helped. The other was 11pm and our shortest member had plans to be asleep by then as She is every night.

The better rides in the park (for our trip) had FP ability and much shorter lines compared to 7DMT at different times during the day.

So I would say newness is a prime reason. And while I and many here may have been multiple times to Disney--many guests are first timers or go at a much lower frequency than others.

Also--mountains are 40 inches while Mine train is 38. So it is accessible to guests in a younger age/shorter height range and I would guess is cooler to Barnstormer. (Since I am pregnant, I was unable to ride to offer personal opinion as to if it is indeed cooler.)
