7 days of Disney food and drink *pics included* Final day posted

You're review is great! Loving all the drink pics! That tuna at Brown Derby looks fabulous. That must be the only rest. I've been to that I didn't order some type of rare tuna. I will definitely have to head back there next trip!

Thanks for the great reviews and pictures. Where in France do you get those yummy drinks? Is it at a cart in France?
Thanks again!!!!!:)

Hey kata. Yes, we got the drinks from a cart in France. I can't remember the name of it but the drinks were made in one of those drink machines. You know which ones I'm talking about? Like the kind where they make margaritas and stuff. So when you're in France just look for the stand that has the drink machines behind the counter and that's where they are. Thanks for reading!

I don't know if I missed it or not....Did you enjoy Bongo's? I think it looks interesting and tasty but don't know if DH will agree!

I did enjoy it actually. I'd never had Cuban food before and while I'm sure it wasn't completely native to what you'd find there it was pretty similar. We all enjoyed the dishes we ordered and my fish had a really good flavor to it.

Thanks for all the great feedback everyone! It's really appreciated :) Sorry I didn't have a chance to post day 5 yesterday but I'm getting ready to post it and it should be up within a few minutes.

Day 5

I got a late start on this day because I had been up sick for a couple hours the night before and so my parents insisted I skip out on DAK in the morning and just meet them at EPCOT around lunchtime. I ordered some toast from room service since my stomach was still a little iffy but by the time I went to meet the family at EPCOT, I was starving! My sister was hungry too so we headed over to Sunshine Seasons to get some food. We both ordered the turkey and muenster cheese on focaccia bread with chipotle mayonnaise and it was really yummy! And big:

I ordered a little container of grapes and a bottle of water with it. Nice lunch overall.

A little later on I had a pretzel from Germany but of course forgot to get a picture of it. Now, have any of you had the pretzels from Germany? Man, those things are soooooooooo good! I love those pretzels! Because quite frankly, the pretzels they sell elsewhere in WDW are gross. JMO of course, but they have NO flavor. I don't know why they can't sell the German pretzels everywhere in WDW :confused3 When I did the WDW College Program, one of the locations I worked at was the pretzel cart in Fantasyland. I used to marvel at the amount of pretzels we sold during the holidays. I just couldn't get over how many people buy those flavorless hunks of dough. Anyway, I'm stepping off my pretzel soapbox now :rotfl: On to dinner!

We had an ADR for The Flying Fish this evening and I was REALLY looking forward to it since mom and dad had such a great meal there a couple years before. I was looking forward to it UNTIL I got sick the night before. I really didn't want to risk eating seafood after the night I'd had and decided that I would probably order something off the kids menu that evening.

The Flying Fish:

Bread:

Hearts of Romaine Caesar salad I ordered. It was really good and it had home made croûtons on it:
HPIM1120.jpg

My sister had the Oak fired Dayboat Scallops which she loved. It came with butternut squash risotto underneath and she says that was good too:
HPIM1124.jpg

Dad had the potato wrapped red snapper which comes in a creamy leek fondue. He had this last time he came here and liked it so much he ordered it again this time:
HPIM1125.jpg

Mom ordered the fish of the day. I can't remember what kind of fish it was but I know she said it was very tasty and it came with rock shrimp too:
HPIM1126.jpg

And as I said earlier, I wasn't sure my stomach could handle seafood so I ordered off the kids menu. I ended up getting a grilled cheese sandwich which came with glazed carrots and roasted potatoes. I was kind of full already from the bread and salad so all I ate was the grilled cheese. In their defense, it was a REALLY good grilled cheese sandwich :teeth:

Okay, so I will try my best to get Day 6 posted tomorrow. The end is near! Aww, sad I know. Anyway, that will include lunch at Kona Cafe and dinner at The Crystal Palace. Thanks for reading everyone! :flower3:

Going in October and cant wait for those drinks!!!! You have my mouth watering:goodvibes Thanks for the report

Thanks I know exactly what carts you are talking about. I have written notes to remind me to 1st stop in France and then head to Germany for a yummy pretzel during my next trip in 12/07/07. I really appreciate your great reviews and pictures. I have decided to go to Ohana's based on your great pictures and I hadn't even thought about it until your review.
Thanks again!!!!
:)
P.S. Happy 21st!!!!!!!!!!:yay:

You are so right about the pretzels in Germany - they are the bomb! We always stop and grab one of these when we're wandering the World Showcase, but we always forget to take a picture. D'OH!

Looking forward to your review of Crystal Palace - we're thinking of giving it a try sometime this year...probably when we visit in October.

Great job! :thumbsup2

We also enjoyed FF a lot! That potato wrapped snapper was awesome!

diggin your reviews!! That lemon citron slushie looks SOOO good. Making a mental note to grab one of those and the German Pretzel..or 2! :goodvibes

Excellent reviews!! I'd never noticed those alcoholic iced drinks in France, I may have to try one! And I agree with you on the pretzels in Germany - I am a HUGE fan!! Sometimes I just think about having two or three of those as my lunch!! :thumbsup2

Goodness, I am so excited about the lovely replies I've been getting! It's really great to know people are enjoying my little dining report and actually getting any kind of useful info out of it!

And now, here is the next installment:

Day 6

Breakfast on this day was nothing big. My sister and I left really early for DAK to ride EE (while mom and dad had a lie in) and after getting our FP's we grabbed some pastries from a little stand near EE. I had a cheese danish and my sister had a cinnamon bun. I had a glass of lemonade and she ordered a flavored Dasani water.

After riding EE (which is AWESOME, btw), we headed over to The Polynesian to meet our parents for lunch at Kona Cafe. We didn't have an ADR but were seated without any wait as soon as they began serving lunch at 12. I had never been here before and I was excited to try it. I've heard a lot of good things about Kona!

HPIM0458.jpg

My mom, sister, and I all had the Kona club which was REALLY, really good. It had slow roasted whole turkey breast with tomato, avocado, turkey bacon, watercress, and reduced calorie sweet chili mayonnaise served on multigrain bread. It also came with sweet potato chips. Yum. This sandwich was extremely filling and it was served in 3 pieces. In the picture, I had already eaten one piece of the sandwich because I was really hungry but here it is:
HPIM1168.jpg

Dad had the stir fry Asian noodles which had chicken and veggies in it. He says this was good:
HPIM1167.jpg

Later that afternoon we headed over to MK where we had an ADR for The Crystal Palace for dinner. I had been here for dinner once before with with some friends (while doing the WDWCP) and really enjoyed it. So when it came time to make ADR's I suggested a CP dinner to my family. They had only ever done breakfast here. Crystal Palace actually ended up being one of our favorite dinners of the trip! It was a big hit with the family. I honestly think this is one of the better buffet/character dining experiences on property. We had a great waitress, never felt rushed, had plenty of character interaction (and I was wearing my b-day button so that helped), and really tasty food. I highly recommend Crystal Palace for breakfast OR dinner.

Now, in all the excitement I forgot to take lots of pictures here. I apologize! I did get a few but I wish I had more. I looked at a menu from CP and I can tell you what I had.

HPIM1295.jpg

First, here is a picture of the food from my last trip to the buffet. I made 3 total I think. This was cheese pizza, prime rib, grapes (obviously), and wild mushroom chicken pasta in some kind of asiago sauce. That pasta was awesome! The prime rib was okay IMO, but my mom and dad both liked it:
HPIM1310.jpg

I also had macaroni and cheese (yum!), garlic redskin mashed potatoes (yum!), fire roasted corn spoon bread (so good!), slow roasted adobo pork (good if a little on the salty side), green beans (from the kids corner, I thought they were good), and....yeah. I think that's everything I tried. I had to look at a menu to refresh my memory! I also know that my mom and dad both had the peel and eat shrimp which they said was good, my sister had the thai curry mussels which she loved, and my mom LOVED the cinnamon and lemon infused balsamic rice. Phew! I think I covered it all.

Now for dessert :woohoo:

I took a picture of my dad's dessert plate since we pretty much had the same samplings. This includes the chocolate peanut butter cake (little too much chocolate for me but dad loved it), the banana bread pudding (very good), and apple cobbler with ice cream on top (good cobbler). The only difference in mine is that I also tried the boston cream pie which I thought was really good.
HPIM1317.jpg

Here's a picture of the pretty ice cream cup I made. They have a serve your own soft serve ice cream machine. I know how to make mine PERFECT thanks to my days at Mrs. Potts Ice Cream Cupboard at MK :teeth: Don't mind the fact that I had already eaten the tip off of it in my zest
HPIM1316.jpg

And finally, here is the cute cupcake the waitress brought me for my birthday:
HPIM1320.jpg

Okay, only one day left to go! How sad :( I will be sorry to see my first dining report ever come to an end. But I hope you guys stay tuned for the last installment. Thanks for all your feedback! :goodvibes

ETA: I FINALLY tried a Dole Whip at MK during this trip. I got a Dole Whip Float both days we were at MK. Those things are awesome! I love fruity drink/snacks so this was perfect for me. I know some people hear all the hype and then try it and are let down. But not me! I thought they were delicious :)

Those pretzels are unlike any other. Sooooo good!

Hope you enjoy my CP review. Thanks for reading!

I would love to go back there when I'm not feeling sick. I did try a bite of my dad's snapper and it was very good!

Thanks for reading! I never knew about the drinks either until I read about them in someone else's dining report before I left. Glad I can spread the word! And I feel the same way about those pretzels. Yum!

Hi
Your reviews are awesome!! Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed seeing your pictures. I'm trying to lose some weight and I'm drooling at all the food. Happy Birthday!!!!
Joan:goodvibes

Thanks again for sharing your reviews - you're doing a fine job! I love the birthday cupcake they brought you - it's just so cute. :goodvibes

I'm pretty sure we're going to try CP for breakfast one day this fall - I'm going to try for a non-EMH morning so we can get into the MK early and get some pictures without all the crowds. And for some reason if we're going to do a buffet we usually prefer breakfast.
