7 Days at Disney & the MANY Lessons We Learned Along the Way! My Jan 2010 TR

Oh my, what a rough start you guys had. :faint: I'm so sorry you all had to go through that.

But YAY for making it to CBR and them having a room available for you! :cool1: I bet you were all so glad to just be able to lay down and go to sleep.

Looking forward to more. I sure hope things got better. Although I am sure they did! ;) :goodvibes
I think i would have slept on a bed of rocks at that point. We were so exhausted- mentally and physically.
Rough start!!!
I know how you must have felt laying down that first night at CBR! When my kids are sick, I just lay there praying and listening for every little noise, ready to jump out of bed.
I hope it all improves!! (a little birdie told me it was a fun trip!)
It did feel good to finally lay down! Although we jumped at every little noise thinking he was getting sick again. :scared: That little birdie may have been right...:rolleyes1

Kim - Sorry to hear that Andrew had a rough ride down to WDW. I can definitely attest that you shouldn't tell a anxiety-prone kid about a trip beforehand. My son Chris did a "code v" as well call it around here at my house one night before a trip from on top of his bunk down upon his sleeping older brother. What scene and nightmare. LOL!

Can't wait to hear about your first day at the parks! Sea
Code V! I'm using that one from now on :lmao:

So sorry to hear about the drive down Code V! That is no way to start a vacation! Love the lessons learnt! Great idea for a TR!

yes yes I am starting one... I am still figuring out photo issues, I think mine are too big? :confused3

As well i am exhausted at night? are you? I feel zoinkered by 6 pm!
I've been super tired every night this week too. I thought it was just because I was sick but even Dh has been exhausted. Thanks for sending me a link to your TR!!!! I don't ever worry about the photo sizes but there is a way to resize them before uploading. I should probably make mine smaller so you can't see my wrinkles on my face so easily.

I am enjoying your TR so far.

I can relate to your Code V road trip. Most of ours wind up very similar. Dramamine has become a good friend of ours, and it stays in the car so that we don't forget it!! Although I did take it out of the car to make the trip to Disney - and it was a good call!!:goodvibes
Good idea keeping it in the car. I put it on my master packing list for any further vacations.
Wow, what a start to your vacation! :scared:
I'm sure it got much, much better, though! :goodvibes

I love the picture of the kids taking their last links off the countdown chains!
They were so excited to see those chains get smaller every day. :goodvibes
Wow, what a start to your trip!! I am amazed your survived it without going crazy!! There is nothing like "aheming" or "Code Ving" in a moving car--not fun at all!! Way to be smart and grabbing the ziplock bags!!

I sure hope our car trip goes better--no offense!!! We have one next week and should have one next month to NC so it will be the first long ones since my DD has been potty trained. We have done a few short ones (4 to 5 hours) and she did well on those. :goodvibes

Looking for to reading about more lessons :) and magical moments! :surfweb:
No offense taken- I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Well... maybe on my worst enemy, but no one else. ;)
Kim- i know you guys are supposed to be having a major storm and all, but daaang-- I need something to read over lunch. (Yes, food again.):goodvibes

Just kidding- hope you guys are safe.

jo
I'm getting there! I just finished typing up a little something for your amusement.

DAY TWO: Part 1
Saturday January 23rd
OUR FIRST FULL DAY IN DISNEY!!!!

We slept in until we all felt fully rested which ended up being about 8:30am. Andrew woke up and said his tummy was all better and that he was hungry. We headed to Old Port Royale for some breakfast and waited nervously to see if it stayed put. Mickey waffles must be magical because once Andrew had one he felt much better! I was SOOOO relieved that our day was off to a better start!

We packed up our stuff from our room in Barbados, checked out of our room only ressie and went to check in for the week. I was really hoping they wouldn’t put us in the same room. I wanted a fresh start and fresh room from our yucky beginning. I had checked in online before we left and the check in went quick and painless. Amazingly enough our new room was ready for us! pixiedust: Pixie dust was on our side so far! I didn’t put any room location requests on the reservations and was thrilled when they gave us a room in Jamaica Building 45!

Woo Hoo for an awesome location!!!!!!

We happily wandered over to Jamaica, found our room, unpacked and settled in to our new home for the week!

Once unpacked we headed to MK! Cause it’s not Disney until you’ve seen that beautiful castle! :cloud9:

We caught the monorail from the TTC. I took this pic of the kids. It was one of those moments I’ll cherish. Andrew put his arm around Em to keep her from falling while we were moving. So sweet. He’s such a thoughtful big brother…sometimes.

When we arrived the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Parade was in full swing!

We watched for few minutes and headed over to Tomorrowland

for the first ride that the kid’s picked! The wait was 30 minutes so we grabbed a fast pass.

And headed over to the TTA that had no wait!

We were feeling a rumbly in our tumblies and headed to Cosmic Rays for some lunch.

Full tummies and time to use our Fastpass for Space Ranger Spin! The first of MANY times we rode this one!

We left Space Ranger Spin and headed over to Mickey’s Philharmagic cause that’s what we felt like doing.

Gotta love those glasses!

I was thrilled to be in Jamaica 45!!!! Our first 2 stays at CBR have been in Barbados so it was nice to be in a new area and even nicer to be right across the bridge to Old Port Royale. We loved walking over that bridge and through the little paths that had Jimmy Buffet piped in along the walkways. :beach:

We may or may not have happened upon the Move It Shake It parade later in our trip and we may or may not have done a little dancing in the streets of MK. :rolleyes1 You'll just have to wait and see...

We love that stroll across the bridge too! :lovestruc Next time we stay at CBR we plan to get a pirate room and when I was telling DH where they are at the resort he said -- you mean we won't be able to walk across the bridge? :sad1: I told him I was pretty sure we were still aloud to walk on the bridge if we wanted to even if we weren't staying in Jamaica or Aruba!

This was our first time getting to use the bridge all the time. I don't think I'd be able to stay anywhere that we couldn't use it from now on!

Date night is MUCH more interesting that my TR...have fun!

All right! Now I am FINALLY caught up!!! :goodvibes

I know you told me about Mr. Andrew being sick in the car on the way down, but you didn't tell me that you drove STRAIGHT THROUGH!!! :scared1: OH. MY. WORD. You were anxious to get there! :) Glad that there was a room for you! :thumbsup2

I am so loving your relaxed pace on this thrip! Our trip was like running with the road runner on expresso! I guess that's what I get for having 3 serious thrill ride junkies! Gotta do it all! No time to relax and smell the flowers! :sad1:

I can't believe how different Em looks with hair! She is too cute for words! :cutie:

More please! :)

So Stinkin cute!!!!! The pic of your DH looking down at your DD made me tear up just a bit. It is so precious--- I love the look on Em's face in all of these pictures-- like "okay, give it to me- what's next?"

So glad Andrew was feeling better.
Ahhh, the healing power of the Mickey Waffle!:goodvibes

Jamaica 45--- I think that was the bldg we were in too- downstairs by the smoking section though. It was a great location--- and the bridge and pathway is so much fun!pirate:

Love the update---
can't wait for more!

Actually, I did already tell Imagineer Tony Baxter at D23 that he should bring them back. The original track is still in place in DL - so sad to see it just sitting there unused after the Rocket Rod ride debacle. I think we should hear a announcement about TL in the near future.

We love TTA too and rode it a few times during the trip. I do miss the Tom Morrow part though since they revamped it. Perhaps you should throw the idea for a TTA at DL in the suggestion box next time you're there.

Sweet pictures! Your kids are so cute! Emily with those sunglasses!
And I agree about that shot with her and Daddy! Adorable!
Yay! Someone else drove straight through and called for a room too!!! Now we're not the only crazy ones!
So glad Andrew felt better!
I know for a fact that Mickey waffles are magical and have healing powers. I ALWAYS feel better after eating one (or three)!
Isn't it fun to just go and do what you feel like??

YAY for Jamaica! CBR was my first booking I made for a mommy and me trip (which I cancelled).
Love Cosmic Rays... toppings bar is genius!

The kids faces are priceless ! And so happy Andrew was feeling better!

Oh, I feel for you. My 4 y.o. get car sick if we are in the car more than 30 minutes. The pedi. told me to give her a tsp of Benadryl and it seems to do the trick...but we fly because I can't imagine how driving 20 hrs would effect her. I really understand. Once, I had to pull over on a highway 3x for her. It's exhausting, upsetting, all of it. Good job on not giving up!! I can't wait to read how the trip turns out, I'm sure, much better!!

Can't wait to read more. Love the pics. Looks like good weather.:cheer2:

Joining in. We are booked to go Jan 23-30, 2011. Needless to say, I am very interested in reading about a trip that is exactly the same week (one year removed) I'm taking the family.

Looking forward to the rest of your posts. :goodvibes

We went ahead and drove through. We thought about stopping but just the thought of having to get in the car for more of a drive the next day kept us going.

It was great taking the relaxed approach this time. Maybe when our kids are a little older like yours we can go back to the commando style but we'll see.

Em looks so different from her pics from last year. I'll have to post one side by side at some point so everyone can see.

That pic is one of my favorites! My kids are very blessed to have such a loving and devoted dad, and me too of course. ;)
Em was SO into Disney this time...wait til you see her face in the pics with her *pincesses* Pure joy!!!!

Here's a little pixie dust to help your request be heard! pixiedust: How heartbreaking to see it just sitting there. :sad2:

It's amazing how easy it is to drive straight through on the trip down when you're all excited to see Mickey! That drive home is another story. We loved the relaxed approach this time around. I don't think we'll go back to the nonstop approach for a while.
