Hi! I'm looking for some ideas for a 7 day hopper itinerary. We are a family of 8 staying in two rooms at BWI 12/5/20-12/14/20 but are planning one non park day at Disney Springs and the Hoop de Doo Dinner. We have never been for that long so I'm not sure what parks we should have two solid days for and which ones we can have one or one and a half. My kids are 8,6, and 6. We will be traveling with my parents and brother as well. With the new Star Wars area, I'm not sure how much extra time will be needed at HS. We used to be able to spend one good day there and be fine with maybe a quick stop for a couple extra rides on something. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

We're also going in December 2020 and have 7-day hoppers, and I'm having trouble planning this far out (and we always book this far out and I love planning!). Since they decided to do boarding passes for ROTR and no Fastpasses have opened up yet for MMRR, it's hard to plan itineraries so far out because we don't know how they will handle rides 11 months from now. It's not as easy as just booking the parks with hard to get rides at the end of your trip. Because it's so undetermined, for the moment I'm basing our parks on where I think Extra Magic Hours WON'T be (we stay onsite but avoid them), and where we want to eat lol.

Do you like to hop often? We hop almost every single day of our trips, but we like the change of scenery. Are your parents pretty mobile? And have they been to WDW before? We traveled with my in-laws for the first time last year and boy did it change our plans, because as much as they wanted to, they could not keep us with us and they ended up not be able to handle a lot of the rides we like.

For HS, I still think it's doable in one day, but who knows...if they change to normal Fastpass and waits, you could be in line for hours. Are you making droids or lightsabers? That eats up a little time but it's not crazy. I'd give it a day and 1/2 to experience it all, or to come back and ride something twice! I would of course do MK twice AT LEAST. You're there during party season so keep that in mind for when to go to MK.

Also, if you're there 10 days, why only a 7 day hopper? Adding on days at that point will be like $10/head per day. It's nice to have the flexibility. But we go to parks on our arrival and departure days.

We only have the 7 day hopper because we don't do parks on arrival and departure days since we fly in from Connecticut. We don't normally park hop since my kids are young. We like to stick with one or two parks max a day. We also would like a non park day, but I may spring for an 8 day hopper just in case we decide to hit something up on that day. My parents are older, but they rent scooters so they can keep up with us in that regard. They don't ride all the same rides we do, but they have no problem going off and doing their own thing if they don't want to go where we are. We have been many times, and we went with my parents the last time as well. The biggest thing is, like you said, the not knowing what's going on with the Fast Passes for Star Wars and MMRR. I'm sure my kids will want to do the droids or light sabers as well.

So we are doing 7 night, 6 day park hoppers. My kids are 12, 11, and 9.
Day 1: fly in morning/all-day MK
Day 2: morning DHS, after break AK
Day 3: morning MK, after break EP
Day 4: Hoop-Dee-Doo/Pool Day (samesies!)
Day 5: morning AK, after break DHS
Day 6: morning MK, after break EP
Day 7: morning DHS, after break MK
Day 8: Disney Springs/flight out evening

we're staying 10 nights (in February) with 6 park hoppers. 2 adults and a 5 year old. here is our schedule:
Day 1: travel day
Day 2: AK morning/HS afternoon
Day 3: MK morning/EP afternoon
Day 4: EP morning/HS afternoon
Day 5: MK morning/AK afternoon
Day 6: REST DAY
Day 7: Universal
Day 8: Universal
Day 9: AK morning/MK afternoon
Day 10: HS morning/MK afternoon
Day 11: travel day

I never plan an "off day" unless it's an 11 day trip :) However, I might opt to take an off day given whatever might happen, our moods, or even the weather. I just make sure I have the ticket for that day just in case the pool gets boring after lunch :)

We also always have PH tix, but we no longer feel the need to hop everyday. Pacing is sooo important to how you feel at the end and immediately after your vacation (other than sad). WDW will kick your butt after the first 12 miles walked! As the years and trips have passed, I find it useful to over-plan the 1st half of the trip and under-plan the second half.
