7/26/2014 - 12-Night Mediterranean Cruise (with Greece)

I haven't posted since June and I need more time to read through all the posts - but just thought I'd update my group. We are 7 women from Australia all booked and very excited!

My sister and I have done a Disney cruise before, as I previously mentioned, but my other friends needed very little convincing to take a Disney cruise on the Med even though they are not particularly Disney fans. They have all at least been to a park, which is saying something from across the otherwise of the world.

Wow long way to come hope you really enjoy it coming all of that way!

In the Med I must say we felt it less of a Disney cruise, more of a floating hotel to rest st night before moving on to the next place, the Disney part is shows, dinner and sea days.

I cannot believe it took me this long to get up to speed again on all my subscribed threads. :thumbsup2

Just 9 more months until this cruise and so far we have secured our flights - cheap ones :cool1: with Lufthansa and our stays pre and post cruise. We have rented an apartment for the 3 days prior to our cruise and have booked 1 night at the Novotel Barcelona City.
So far we have always booked our excursions through Disney, but I am actually looking into booking on my own. I need to do a little more research until I can book something.

As for the FE - the OP here, Fitzpat, has not been here in 7 months, so until they return I am posting the link to the FE list I keep over on FB.

Fitzpat - I do NOT want to take over, but since I already have a list I will post the link to it, so that everyone can keep track. If you want to use my list as yours that is fine with me! :goodvibes

Please let me know if the link works for everyone and if all the information is correct!

There are so many benefits of booking your own private tours, we did it in the Med in 2007 on the magic, and also the Bsltic and Alaska.

For a family of say four it can work out cheaper than DCL.

The smaller private cars and vans can travel faster than tour buses, get closer to the sights, can avoid the tourist traps and not meet on ship or wait for the latecomers.
we have one booked now in each port bar Mykanos.

My dilemma - there are only two of us! ;) So what I have found so far comes out way more expensive than Disney. :lmao:

Plus, we have been to many of the places before and since this is Europe have easy access to most of them, so I am not sure what we want to do. Maybe do "some" tours and do some exploring on our own in other cities. :confused3 But I definitely need to make some plans soon.

I booked our flights last night - later (and more expensive) than I would have liked, but we were in flux due to our teenager - but we are now all set to go. I just need to plan somewhere to stay for our 3 nights post cruise now.

:wave2:

For two yes that's an issue but if you speak here to see if you can share with others then maybe you can split the costs, say what you plan to do and see if anyone can match, we did that in the Med in 2007 and shared most trips with another family, it worked out well for both of us.

We booked Gatwick >> Barcelona, and got good prices with BA on there release.

We might consider that, but for the moment I am trying to find out if there are companies that do tours we would like to do. And there is still always Disney to fall back on. ;)

We booked the same, albeit the prices won't have been so good! What flight are you out on - we are on the 07:25. :wave2:

:cheer2: Doesn't it feel so much more real, once flights are booked and accommodation is secured? So you are staying for three more nights after the cruise?
We will have three days before the cruise, then one night after it in Barcelona. Returning home for the weekend (and some laundry :lmao:)), before we fly to Paris for 10 more days at the parks and sightseeing. :thumbsup2

BellFamilyBelles let me know that the link to the FE does not work - I redid it today and hope it works now. :goodvibes

I would say its worth considering maybe on Facebook cruisers can post what they are thinking of doing and the number in thier party and see if anyone can match up.

Yes booking flights makes it more real, we are also paid in full so were going!

dizneeat,

The FE List is working now! Thank you! Looking at the list really made me consider bringing our girls which will be 1 and 9. We really need some adult alone time though  My conscience should repair when we book our 2015 Alaskan on-board which will include the children and a niece. :yay:

:thumbsup2 Good to hear that I was able to pull off posting the list this time. :lmao:

I looked at your avatar and was not sure if I was missing something, since you didn't mention any kids in your post.
But sometimes you just need time for the two of you. ;)

Oh, an Alaskan cruise in 2015. And with family! How awesome is that. :thumbsup2

On other Disney Cruises it has been standard practice to organise a tour and to invite anyone interested in joining you on it via this thread to say so, and split the cost. That way you get the tour you want, and help others, and make new friends.

:) Booking flights is indeed the point of no return.

Yes that's what I said.....

I am just now getting back to this thread. I have so much planning to do!

Earlier it asked if I would post photos from Alaska. I have a Facebook page I use to post updates from my trips. There are some Alaska photos on there - I need to finish my trip reports. You can see that page at www.facebook.com/wearedisneydreaming

I sent a request to join the FB group for this cruise. I haven't decided about participating in the FE. I want to, but feel like I will be off the ship so much that I may not have time.

Does anyone know the price of the ABD add-on?

:cool1: Welcome back!

I need to go check out your FB page. Alaska is on our to do list, but we have never gotten around to look into it properly by now.

And, I added you to the FB group. I am using my brother's account there. ;)

No problem about the FE, we still have over 8 months until then.

Sorry, I won't be any help with ABD add-ons. We are doing some of our excursions plus pre and post cruise stay on our own.
