7/25/2013 Med. Mickey's 12 Night Italian Job - with Nice, Valletta and Dubrov !

Thanks for the help, our travel agent was supposed to find this out for us ages ago but they haven't got back to us. Looks like we need to get back onto them again!

Marie

we paid ours a couple of weeks ago. Just need to call DCL and they can arrange it for you. Saves the credit card for everything else on holiday.

Thanks Alex, that's exactly why we want to pay up front... The idea of everything mounting up on my card while I'm onboard scares me to death! I terrified I'll get home to a massive bill or even worse end up over our limit.

I have the same credit card fears. I think I will look into the pre-pay option on the tips. I can always add more later through cash at the end.

The credit union here charges a flat fee for the exchange. I'll be ordering that next week.

FE UPDATE.

I have been out of town for a while and I'm not retuning home until July 2nd. NewFamyMan has changed his room number to 2148. I find Google Docs hard to manage from my phone. I tried to change the number but I can't "reorder" the rooms until I get home or get access to a computer. Anyway......As rooms may be changing all the way up until the end, I would make sure you printed out the "latest" copy right before you leave! Thanks! Not much longer now!!!

Hi. I just took pictures of our passports and saved them to our iPhone in our security app. That way we don't have to carry around photocopies of our passports. I'm getting really excited! Kelly.

I think my Italian language program leaped waaaay ahead of me last night. I worked on it for an hour, and I understood very little. I'm still trying. I can say hello and how much does that cost. Haven't got to the "where's the bathroom?" yet. It went on to paragraph long sentences involving castles, museums,

Just my way of trying to feel like I'm doing something positive to get ready.

I like the picture of the passport on the iPhone. We'll have to use my DW's phone. I still maintain and archaic flip type phone. I'm NOT technologically inclined.

Hi. I just bought a 1 year family pass for 38 euros to Sagrada Família. With this pass you don't have to stand in line and you can go any time you want. You also get 50% off tours or audio headsets. You can also go up the towers. It's good for 2 adults and 2 children under 18. It was a better deal for us then buying a 1 day pass and you are not committed to a specific time slot. I bought it online at the official web page.

Dove, il bano?

I'm at an advantage. One of my students, her mother is from north eastern Italy, so I've been able to practice on her. The other day she taught me how to describe a very good looking man. "Caldo, caldo' something something and a glass 'del vino". If only I could remember everything she says.

I tell ya, the ear worms audio books on ITunes are amazing. They've gotten me through Spain and Portugal... and I'm hoping Italy!

We live in the US and only have a few weeks before we get to Barcelona. How would we get the family pass on time?

Hi. I just printed them at home. When you buy them online they send you the ticket receipt immediately. You then bring that to a special entrance and they will give you your permanent tickets. You also get 2 free guest day passes. At that time you can also book your tower time if you want to.

I got mine yesterday. I printed the reciept and it states to use that until you receive the tickets. I'm not sure whether they mail them to you or not. Another poster on another thread indicated they recieved their tickets in the mail.

I printed extra copies of the receipt.

And, thanks for the bathroom directions. directiones?

Hi,

We are in the process of planning our time in Barcelona too and are going to visit Sagrada Familia.....I like the idea of the family pass since you do not need to schedule a time....but I can't find where you purchase the pass online...I found info about it under friends of the church, but I don't see a link where you can purchase it...

It took me a bit to figure it out. Click on friends, then click on become a friend and just before their description is light blue printing- click on that and the order form should pop up. Kelly.

As to becoming a friend with Sagrada Familia, the charge finally hit my account today. With conversion, and the 3% transfer charge, the total was $49. Still not bad. And, if it works, we can just walk in with our passes or check in with the receipt and go in anytime.

We land in Barcelona at 8:30 a.m., but no telling when we will get to the hotel.

Now, any thought on the busses? I believe I can order the tickets for those and use the receipt with the office when I get there?

So bummed I didn't see this option when I bought our tickets! Oh well!

Head's up: Someone on the Facebook page said that a current DCL Med cruiser has reported that they were required to show their passport when disembarking at the Rome port.

I'm probably going to carry my passport with me at all times anyway. I'll have copies in the hotel room. And, thanks to another poster, I'll have DW take pictures of all of our passports on her iphone.

I do not intend to carry a wallet. I'm just going to carry the passport, a couple of cards and my driver's license. Also, some cash. Nothing in my back pockets just in my front pockets. One side will be covered by my side pouch/fanny pack.

I noted on another thread that I may not look like I'm in fashion, but it's functional. As far as looking like a tourist, I look lost wherever I'm at.
