7/24/2011 5 Night Disney Dream cruise

Can't believe 4 weeks from today will be our turn to board the ship! So excited!

Woo Hoo! I can't wait! I am already on vacation mode. I just need yo get back into the work mode for a few more weeks! DH is now getting excited too and is talking about it a lot more! He almost slipped the other day in front of DDs! But soon the secret will be out!:banana::banana:

I am soo ready!!!! Went shopping yesterday and bought DH some new shorts and shirts for the cruise since he pretty much has zero summer clothes for some reason. Thankfully JC Penney's had plain t shirts for 5 bucks so he got some nice shorts and a few different colored shirts to wear with each of them.

Sounds like you got e serious deal! :thumbsup2 Grandma will be arriving on Saturday so next week is shopping week! I hope I can find some deals like you did!

:headache: I'm back from an out-of-town wedding where everything that could go wrong did go wrong. I'm not one to share my troubles all that much, but did want to give everyone travelling by air a huge learning experience I had.

We were taking a late night flight scheduled for 11pm. We had bad weather so I checked online for delays, and found my flight was delayed 90 minutes, making my 11pm flight a 12:30 flight. Not wanting to sit in the airport an extra 90 minutes, we decided to get to the airport based on a 12:30 departure time. I continued to monitor the flight up to when we left the house, and we arrived at the airport about 10:40pm. Checked the board as soon as we got into the airport, and the flight was changed back to ON TIME 11pm departure!!! Well, in atlanta it takes more than 20 minutes to get from the front doors to the gate, and we missed our flight. So the lesson is that even if your flight is delayed, plan on getting to the GATE (not just the airport) 30 minutes before the original departure time. I have always followed this rule of thumb, but this time with a full 90 minute delay who would have thought there was even a chance of them changing it back to on time!

Sorry to hear about your elbow Michelle and glad it's mending well. I was in a walking cast on our cruise in December and it put a damper on things but I still had a great time.

Sorry about your flight Beautyfan. I have had a lot of delays the last couple years flying out of MCO and have been told at the gate that it's delayed an hour and then 5 minutes later we are boarding.

I've pretty much been working and going to my son's baseball games and not a whole lot more in between. I really need to get Keegan (ds14) dress pants but with him growing 8 inches the last year I'm waiting until a few days before we leave. He's had 6 games a week and goes into play offs next week. Brennan (ds10) had his first all star travel tournament this past Saturday and won all 3 of their games, coming in 1st. They start Districts tonight and have a game at 6 about an hour and a half away. If they win that, they play at 8:30 under the lights. They have to make it in the top 2 teams at Districts to go to the state championship. If they do make it to states, they will play starting July 15, so we will literally go from hotel/suitcases to home on the 17th and right to BWI to stay the night for our early morning flight on the 18th. Brennan has another tournament on July 9/10th in Cal Ripken's Aberdeen stadiums which are always really nice to play in. He will most likely miss the last 2-3 tournaments his team will play in. I'm hoping Keegan's team finishes Districts while we are gone and he can rest up 2 weeks before starting football.

I hope everyone has a great 4th of July. We couldn't be looking more forward to this upcoming vacation!!

!

Thanks!! It's healing faster than I thought it would, no more pain meds, just motrin and it's feeling pretty good.

On our first and only cruise it was Dec 05 and I had broken my heel 6 months before, so I still wasn't walking very well. The trip from the ship to the family beach at Castaway Cay almost killed me, but I refused to wear the walking boot they gave me to the beach.

I have a cruise planned for next September...hopefully I won't break anything before that Lol!! Because if I do...I don't think I will plan any more cruises!!

I had no option but to wear the boot due to emergency foot surgery I'd had in September but at least I could walk in the boot fine by December (in summary I had a chunk of wood from our 7 year old wood deck go in my foot. I got absessed celulitis and compartment syndrome and had to have surgery to have it drained. While they were in my foot, they found another 3 inch piece of wood that was hidden on xrays and took that out. The infection had killed a lot of tissue so my surgeon had to take out the entire fat pat of my foot. I was on IV anitbiotics in the hospital 4 days and then oral antibiotics for 2 months. Needless to say, I still see my surgeon for shock wave therapy but it's much better and I can walk with little pain. We did have our deck replaced a month later with Trex) . I coudn't really enjoy the rain forest room in the spa with the boot that much after a massage, but other than that I was able to do everything I wanted. I don't plan on ever doing that again either!!

Yikes! I've had delayed flights but they never boarded on time. Ugh I'm so sorry you had that big problem :( Hopefully your trip to the cruise will be MUCH less eventful!

EVERYBODY GET HEALED UP AND GET TO THE AIRPORT SUPER DUPER EARLY!! WE ONLY HAVE 24 DAYS LEFT BEFORE WE CRUISE AND YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO MISS IT!!:banana::banana:

Hey everyone :) Me and my family will also be on this cruise. Just wondering if anyone has figured out which entertainer(s) will be on board with us. I am just curious and it gives me something to look up to get even more excited. This will be my 8th Disney cruise and 1st on the dream- ridiculously excited. I have tried looking up all entertainers I know of and cannot find any that are booked for our cruise. Also up to hear anything else cool anyone knows about our cruise specifically. Thanks :)

We haven't booked, yet. But my dd and I are planning on going. She wil turn 14 on 7/25/11 so, she will get to take part in the teen club. I am very excited..can't wait to see the Dream!

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Hi I'm BrendanI'll be turning 14 on the tenth hope I can meet you guys

Hi Brendan! I have two 14 year old boys who'll be there too! (yep, they're twins, but they look nothing alike!). Are you heading for Vibe?:cool1:

Hi! I've been missing for awhile as I was busy taking DD14 off to camp. I'm so focused on the cruise, we planned to take her on the wrong day! Fortunately, we found out just before we left the house. She comes home just before we cruise. There will be quite a bit of laundry :laundy: to do when she gets home to get us ready to go.

So who else is going to Atlantis on their own, or through Comfort Suites? We're really looking forward to this excursion. I want to start planing our day there. Has anyone done this before? I've heard there are supposed to be some more resonable places to eat in the waterpark. I've also heard some of the must do attractions are the slide into the shark pool and the not so lazy river.

I know that I mentioned this before, but are we planning to do a meet on board? And what did you think of the bead idea to recognize each other?

Lauri

I think it would be a great idea! I'm mostly saying that because I already have lime green beads lol AND I got 2 LGMHs on my toes today :)
