I'm back from an out-of-town wedding where everything that could go wrong did go wrong. I'm not one to share my troubles all that much, but did want to give everyone travelling by air a huge learning experience I had.
We were taking a late night flight scheduled for 11pm. We had bad weather so I checked online for delays, and found my flight was delayed 90 minutes, making my 11pm flight a 12:30 flight. Not wanting to sit in the airport an extra 90 minutes, we decided to get to the airport based on a 12:30 departure time. I continued to monitor the flight up to when we left the house, and we arrived at the airport about 10:40pm. Checked the board as soon as we got into the airport, and the flight was changed back to ON TIME 11pm departure!!!

Well, in atlanta it takes more than 20 minutes to get from the front doors to the gate, and we missed our flight. So the lesson is that even if your flight is delayed, plan on getting to the GATE (not just the airport) 30 minutes before the original departure time. I have always followed this rule of thumb, but this time with a full 90 minute delay who would have thought there was even a chance of them changing it back to on time!
