So what did I miss

Party for Carley on Adnrews veranda :dance3: :dance3:

Some sort of ball game that a cheese team won :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Talk about the logo....I'm still loving the Small World look but I would like to see our cruise name in the flags and the MOUSE somewhere, and talk about the FE and secret Mickey

When do you think that DCL will post about what tours they're planning to run in the ports ?

I've been looking at RCCL tours and they do one in ST. P with a Jewish theme to it which I'd really, really like to do and I very much doubt DCL will do it so I figure I will do a private tour for that. In Germany I think we'll probably just do the beach I think by then all my boys will enjoy a day "letting off steam"

I don't expect they'll have shore excursions posted for at least another year or so (how odd does that sound?).

I was planning to do only DCL excursions - but if they don't have the Jewish themed tour and you are setting that up, definitely put me on the list. That would be worth getting a visa for. Maybe we can put in a word with DCL that they should try to make arrangements for that?

How far is Berlin from the port? I've always wanted to visit Berlin, and if it's a reasonable distance I'd want to go there.

all by myself, I really am all byself, yet again

Sorry - I wish I could stay an dchat, but it's past 2:00am and I must sleep.

I'm booked

First name LaTanya
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Cat number if assigned: Cat 11 #6139

I also had Jo take care of the booking for me.:cheer2:

I am VERY happy to see that you are on this cruise, LaTanya:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Perhaps we will finally get our Palo brunch together!

For all those worrying about bringing over too much luggage.....I had a brainwave. July is sale time here in the UK so bring over empty suitcases....no excess luggage there then.......buy all your stuff here and then when you finish the cruise send loads of it back home via snail mail....no excess luggage there then either.

Brilliant even if I do say so myself :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

The Jewish St. Petersburg
2-3 hr Tracing the Jewish history of the city, a visit to the synagogue, to an apartment museum of a Jewish artist, lunch in a Jewish restaurant

This company will get the visa for you, so you still don;'t have to do that. Other similar companies probably have a similar tour, too.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that you can get there by train :confused3 :confused3

Yes, I believe I read that on cruise critic -- it is pretty far, but I think we have a long day that day. I have been to Berlin, so probably will stay closer to the coast -- there are some wonderful castles near where we will dock.

Since Andrew posted the screen cap of the prices, it got me to do some digging. It looks like the price of the 5 of us in a cat 4 would be about the same (maybe even a few hundred less!) than the price of the 2 cat 10's. this surprised me, because it's always been cheaper for us to book 2 lower category cabins. So now I have an email into our TA to check it out for us. Maybe we'll have a verandah after all! Wish us luck!

Good Luck Mike!!! You will then be close enough to share sundries with !!! What kind of shampoo does your wife use????:rotfl2::rotfl2::cool1::cool1:

Stick a solar panel on your back and you might be able to get across the pond in 2 months instead of 3 months. :rotfl:
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Actually, that was a fun evening. I'll listen to you any time.

Thanks - I think it's incredibly cool to see so many familiar names/faces.

Hi Dan - welcome back!! I will never forget when we met at out gift exchange and you said most of your luggage was lost- I nearly fainted- and you were as calm as a cucumber!!!:scared1:

Lots of luck but I've just heard from our TA that cat 4's are on guarantee only at this time

Yay La Tanya! Glad you're onboard. We really look forward to meeting you!

I can honestly say I don't know anyone on this thread. BUT, that is changing quickly. :woohoo:
It's hard for me to remember who knows who from which cruise. I thought you you knew this bunch from the Med cruise! I'd say you fit right in.:thumbsup2

I saw Julie posted one of the private tour companies has a Jewish themed tour. I've been looking at the most commonly named ones (Denrus, Red October, Alla, Anastasia) and i know I saw similar tours. Plus, they all offer personalized tours that you can set up to cover exactly what you want to see.

You're right. On the DCL website, they were listed as GTY. But at least we'd all be in the same cabin, so it's not too bad. We had a cat 6 and 11 on our last cruise. They assigned the cat 11 to deck 7, where there are no cat 6 cabins! Our TA at Dreams finally wore them down and they moved the cat 11 and assigned the cat 6 directly across the hall.

Actually I had been off the boards for a long time only keeping in contact with my DIS friends thru email. Didn't do a MED cruise with DCL, no interest in going there.

Most of the tour companies will set up a customized tour with the amount of people you want. I have already contacted Anastasia who is working on our tour for this cruise. We used her in July and liked the service we had. So much better and cheaper than going with a ship's tour.
The tour operator DOES include a blanket visa for everyone that is touring with them. Don't listen to DCL when they say you have to get your own visa, you DON'T.

Berlin is either a 3 hour train or bus ride. Usually the trains the cruiselines use are not air conditioned. So a 6 hour ride and we are only in port for 12½ hours, not a lot of time for seeing Berlin.
Although, the train station is right next to where the ship docks so no time is lost getting to the station.

I have to say that there is so much info on cruise critic for the Baltics ports that everyone should be looking over there. I learned so much info there, my DH was scared. I also have to say I'm not a big cruise critic fan, but that section is invaluable.

I think I'd better get onto the coach companies and find how much a bus from North London to Dover is ???????? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
In July we paid about 24GBP for the 3 of us from Victoria Station to Dover on National Express. I almost waited too long to book with them and will definately book with them earlier.
Now I don't know why you want to look into this already :confused3 , I'm sure you know you can only book them 12 weeks out. :upsidedow  ;)

Berlin is 3 hours by train or bus from Warnemunde. But we are only in port for 12½ that day. Most of the other lines dock for 14-15 hours.
