Hi Sallie,

I agree that 50% seems a bit much. Just like was said, some people don't compare apples to apples. I am sure other cruises are nice but you hit the nail right on the head with Disney. They are really top of the line and how do you put a price on MAGICpixiedust: ?

Talk to you over the weekend.

That sounds GREAT -- I was reading that the prices are generally reasonable in Tallinn -- is that true for the chocolates as well?

I ended up buying a lot of chocolate and have no clue what each thing cost. I got individual candy bars, bags of individually wrapped bite size chocolates, a tin of candy for us, and a couple other things.
I had read before going there that they are known for their marzipan and I bought a small bar that is covered in chocolate, but haven't eaten it yet.

I found the little art glass studio and I am so looking forward to going back there and getting another piece or 2. At least this time I will be prepared and will take some bubble wrap with us.
Then there's the sweater wall, but I didn't think the prices were all the cheap. So I ended up getting a sweater in a shop, along with a lot of other souvies to bring back (like linen kitchen towels), and the lady gave me a 10% discount on everything I bought. She had a nice selection in the shop and it was quality merchandise not the typical touristy stuff.

We ended up finding a liquor store so I could get a bottle of Vana Tallinn liquer, a small bottle of Russian Vodka and some cans of beer and bottles of soda and it was about $20. for all.

Sorry Joann I was there I was just ketchin' up with all the stuff that was posted after I'd gone to bed. It's amazing how much you guy yap once I've gone to bed, mind you I did have an early night yesterday as I was soooo tired.

You haven't gone yet !!!!!! I can see your light is on :surfweb: :surfweb:

So what did I miss

Party for Carley on Adnrews veranda :dance3: :dance3:

Some sort of ball game that a cheese team won :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Talk about the logo....I'm still loving the Small World look but I would like to see our cruise name in the flags and the MOUSE somewhere, and talk about the FE and secret Mickey

When do you think that DCL will post about what tours they're planning to run in the ports ?

I've been looking at RCCL tours and they do one in ST. P with a Jewish theme to it which I'd really, really like to do and I very much doubt DCL will do it so I figure I will do a private tour for that. In Germany I think we'll probably just do the beach I think by then all my boys will enjoy a day "letting off steam"

Ok now I'm begining to wonder it "the lights are on, but know ones home" :confused3 :confused3

.............anybody out there ??????????????

all by myself, I really am all byself, yet again

I missed you by a minute!:confused3 :scared:

I don't expect they'll have shore excursions posted for at least another year or so (how odd does that sound?).

How far is Berlin from the port? I've always wanted to visit Berlin, and if it's a reasonable distance I'd want to go there.

I think we all need to scope out the other lines for ideas in the meantime. I went to Berlin this year and EVERYONE should visit once. It really brings back a lot of memories...........

Yes, I believe I read that on cruise critic -- it is pretty far, but I think we have a long day that day. I have been to Berlin, so probably will stay closer to the coast -- there are some wonderful castles near where we will dock.

Having been there, I would agree that I want to check out our other options, too!:thumbsup2

It is a long ways to only be in a city for 6 hours. Plus it makes for a very long day.
There is so much to see in the Warnemunde/Rostock area.

We will just stay in town lounge around, have a few beers, take in the local food/culture and hope it's a good day to lounge on the beach or the bar on the beach.
It was funny, we noticed that around 3:00 everyone was either having beer or ice cream whereever we looked. We had a good laugh over that.

My two cents........when I went to Berlin, I drove for 3 hours each way AND IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT!

Hi Mike - thanks, I would love that also
Maybe we can have another meet in our area sometime that we can both make it to. I love the picture you are working on for the signature

It is official I have moved our 2009 booking to this date for now. Haven't told DH yet :rotfl:
Welcome, good choice!!:thumbsup2

HOORAY - I know I met you once but I would another face to face with you. Well talk then.

OK - I am just out of the shower, my heads in a towel and I'm hungry but have got to leave for Torrance in about 45 minutes. I just LOVE  away games that are about 20 miles away! That means with traffic - it'll take about 1 hr. YIKES - got to get moving and here I am on the boards catching up. :sad2: No hope for me - I have been bitten by the Baltic Bug.

On a side note - and for those that know me, I did manage to cook my family a home-cooked meal and it was all eaten in the same night! Yay for me! :cheer2:

Hmmmmmmmmm.........the Baltic Bug........great concept.........:dance3:

Well, I'm crashing tonight......early lights out for me tonight!!:goodvibes
:cloud9:

So you got to talk to yourself and you have an early night - did you put yourself to sleep?!? :lmao: :rotfl:

My two cents........when I went to Berlin, I drove
for 3 hours each way AND IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT!
There was a couple on their honeymoon on our cruise in July and they rented a car in Germany and the car broke down and they missed the ship. They had to drive 5 hours to Munich to catch a flight the next day to meet the ship in Helsinki. So not only did they have the cost of the original rental car, they had to stay the night in Warnemunde, rent another car and board a very expensive flight to Helsinki and spend the night there to meet the ship on Friday. So the new DH was in big trouble with the new DW since she didn't want to rent a car in the first place.

To make matters worse, they almost missed the ship in Copenhagen the day before. They were calling their names for a few minutes before they boarded the ship. Can't remember what they did that day to make them almost miss the ship. :scared1:

Hi all,

51 pages already? Wow, I have a lot of catching up to do!

Looking forward to getting to know everyone.:)

Welcome aboard :welcome:

Don't be intimidated by the volume of posts. We are a fun crew.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that you can get there by train :confused3 :confused3

Yes, I believe I read that on cruise critic -- it is pretty far, but I think we have a long day that day. I have been to Berlin, so probably will stay closer to the coast -- there are some wonderful castles near where we will dock.

I think that I read Berlin is a hour or two away by train. We'll probably go to Berlin because of all the history there.

Berlin is 3 hours by train or bus from Warnemunde. But we are only in port for 12½ that day. Most of the other lines dock for 14-15 hours.

Hmmm.... I guess I'll wait to see what DCL has available and how long the transit is. 3 hours each way is a bit much....
I'll definitely do a DCL excursion if I go - I want the ship to wait if the train runs late.
(There was one tour on the canal crossing that ran late - everyone was wondering what the ship was waiting for and why nervous officers were wandering around the dock, when a tour group suddenly showed up. They got them on the ship FAST!

Hi Dan - welcome back!! I will never forget when we met at out gift exchange and you said most of your luggage was lost- I nearly fainted- and you were as calm as a cucumber!!!:scared1:

Well, there wasn't much point in getting stressed. My stress wouldn't make the luggage magically reappear.

Funny story though...

Those first few days we did have to spend some cash on clothing. We did visit the Spanish equivalent of K-Mart the morning of the cruise, and shopped our way through the onboard shops and some shops in the first ports - probably spent about $200 each. It took six months, but we did end up getting the entire amount reimbursed. So annoying as it was, it did end up covering some costs I would have had anyway (all my cruise T-Shirts, for example)

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
That just might be where my brain is! Either that or it's trying to figure out how we are going to pay for this cruise. I work for Boeing and have been on strike for 5 1/2 weeks with no end in sight.

Being able to pay for the cruise at this point is a leap of faith. In normal times it would be no stress, but with the economy jumping around like the Magic in 50 food waves, I have no clue. But 21 months is a long time, so I'll just assume I'll pull it off somehow.

Good evening everyone! I was just looking at the main cruise site which i never have time to do. I was reading the two threads about how expensive Disney cruises are now. One thread is entitled
Is Disney smaoking crack or what...:rotfl:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1975830
and teh other is
LOYAL DCL'ers...ARE PRICES STOPPING YOU???
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1982835

I must say, I didn't realize that a comparable Cruise to Europe on a different line is (from what is posted) 50% less than a Disney cruise???? Wow- I figured maybe it was about 25-30% more , but 50% does seem like a lot more I think.
Now, as with all of us Disney crazies, I too feel there is nothing like the Magic- ambiance, kids club, entertainment- etc., but I really didnt realize it was that much more.
Am I only one who didnt think there was that much of a difference? Probably- I know I live in a bubble!:upsidedow :upsidedow :upsidedow

I've been on Carnival and Royal Caribbean. There's just no comparison. Disney is just more fun.

I think we all need to scope out the other lines for ideas in the meantime. I went to Berlin this year and EVERYONE should visit once. It really brings back a lot of memories...........

I've been to Munich and Frankfurt. I'd like to go to Berlin - but 3 hours is a long ride....

WOW !!!! looks as if these Baltic cruises are more popular than even the TAs predicted.

We've got a cat 4 room but I asked our TA if she could move us aft a bit and this is the reply I got from her

"Hi Isabel,

From what I understand, these 12 night cruises are extremely popular and
booked up very quickly. It's likely that we may not be able to get you
moved after all, as I did not realize the popularity of this particular
sailing at first.

Send me a reminder on Saturday and I will check if there are any openings
then.

Have a Disney day!"

Thank goodness we all made it onboard   :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
