OK, so DH is stuck trying to get home, he has managed 3 miles in 5 hours!!!!!! Reading has ground to a halt. I chose to leave work at 1.30pm & caught what was almost the last bus to run before the service was suspended. Supposed to be travelling to BIL Wednesday & fingers are crossed that we can get there. When he visited at the week-end we sent him back with bags to help out the man in red, so I'm a bit panicked as to what we'll do! Lauren at 10 can be sorted, but Hermione at 4.5 is going to be much more difficult without ruining it for her. It is still snowing (started just after midday) and we now have a good 8 inches which I know is nothing for some of you, but is almost unheard of her in the Royal county!!!!

I can't imagine what it's been like for you. We complain here because they don't clear the roads fast enough, but as I understand it you roads don't really get cleared at all and definately not in a timely manner. Hope all are safe.

Good luck with being able to get away for the weekend, hopefully the roads will be clear enough for your journey. :grouphug:

Caro you are just the sweetest wife on a Monday, going thru all that traffic to unlock Andrew's truck. Just hope he remembers you on Christmas morning. :flower3:

Well, he did say he would take me to Palm Springs and Disneyland later this week! That's pretty good!

We had some rain last night. It stopped now and it's supposed to be cool and windy. We are expecting high 60's to 70 degrees on Christmas day!!
Even if you have a white Christmas, I hope it is one with clear roads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:santa::santa::santa:

HO HO HO to one and all

We have had a dusting of snow for the last 3 days - just enough to be annoying and our temp has been stuck at 29 for 3 days now but at least not much of a wind chill

We don't travel much Christmas day - just to my mom's - about 3 miles and Kara's work is about 1 1/2 miles so we are good for now

shopping done - wrapping done - packages mailed - cards done and mailed

Grocery tomorrow - oh the joy

Your organised, Merry Christmas to you!

I have to do a lot of driving on Christmas day. Taking folks to/from us,

BALTIC

In anticipation of the DCL shore trips coming out within the next two weeks, have been looking at the shore trips of other cruise lines again.

Looked at RCCL,NCL, and PRINCESS, by far the easiest to understand are on the Princess website.

They have all the same ports as us.

Now the average there, (Bar St Pete's, Berlin) are $90>$100pp, Berlin is circa $400pp, by chartered train 3 hours each way with food, breakfast out, Snacks back, and lunch, river cruise lunch is one.

Your organised

organized but late as usual - not even sure packages/cards will arrive in time - but at this point - at least they are in the mail

Gave Kara a job at least 6 weeks ago to pull some pictures from cruise and WDW trips - she never 'got around to it' - oh well - at least the cards are mailed - last year the cards never made it out of their box

Normally I leave Christmas shopping to the last minute, its something I am not organized with; but this year the kids have their presents already, a HD Camera and a new laptop.

We have taken several Princess cruises, we really love them. Everything about them is easy!

DH finally got home - 6 hours to travel 3 miles! At least he got home, some people ended up sleeping in the bed department of a department store because they were stuck!

Today was still chaos but the trains were running so we managed to get into town to see the panto which was actually good fun & not quite as cringing as previous years. Hermione went to build-a-bear to get an Alvin as we're off to see the squeekual tomorrow before hopefully heading to Hastings.

Andrew - based on your research I think the only DCL excursions will be Russia, but we could be pleasantly surprised. We've already decided to skip Berlin as we could spend a week-end there for what DCL would want for the 4 of us and we wouldn't be constrained by time either. Not very often I get to say that about a port of call!
