7/18/10 Mickey's Baltic Ballyhoo Part 6

Andrew, this is so helpful. I really appreciate the time you have taken to educate us on how to do this properly. All of your UK advice has been helpful, actually, and it is so nice of you to take the time.

We agree. Andrew, you have been so helpful and such a fount of knowledge. Looking forward to meeting you.

We made a new addition in our house also. Megan has been begging for a puppy and I had a weak moment and let her get one. I will upload a picture later. The cats do not like her.

Congrats on the puppy - name? breed? Can't wait to see the picture

Congrats:cheer2:
Is the puppy chasing the cats? So funny how some cats get along fine with dogs and some don't. One of my cats loves our dog, the other 2 not at all.

Morning!
(I work nights so it is morning to me!)

So, we are travelling with the in laws. FIL calls DCL today (He calls everyone, won't use the web or email) and is told there are 2 semi formal nights and 1 formal night. This seems to go against everything we have heard and read, and it is not consistent with the navigators that were posted for a previous Baltic.

So, any confirmation or comment on this info?

Thanks!
I'm thinking the CM your FiL talked to was mistaken:confused3
Happens sometimes.

Only 1 more day to pack and be ready to board our plane...I am starting to get nervous and thinking I should start worrying less about magnets and more about essentials. :rotfl:
Me too. Just starting to print out my magnets now, but packing will wait for this weekend:laughing:

aloha,
Boy just had an short earthquake just a few minutes ago. It was a 5.9 magnitude. Nice shake but everyone is doing well.,\.
Man can't wait to go on this cruise.

aloha,
hawaiian mickey

Just had an earthquake. :scared1::scared1: The epicenter was about 45 min to an hour away from us. Can't wait to get out of CA for a couple of weeks!

Glad to hear you two are ok:thumbsup2
Only volcanos in the Baltic, no earthquakes:rolleyes:

We have to have someplace to leave the luggage!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl2::rotfl2:

:rotfl::thumbsup2

Yep, i'm not upset with the CM or anything, it is just amazing that my FIL would rather trust someone he talks to for 2 minutes rather than my DW and I that live and breathe Disney!

5 days till we leave! 2 work shifts left!

Ken

:wave2: Good Morning All :wave2:

So their's a whole lotta shakin goin on the Left Coast & you cant wait to head to Merry Old & the Stress of packin & gettin ready for your trip is gettin you down? Try Some Disney Magic in a Bottle (151) for some pre cruise relief!:drinking1: :faint::thumbsup2
(Does not work on Disney Villans or Lawyers!:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl::laughing:

Thank you so so much for those kind words, and I hope in a little way, I have helped your vacation and your limited time in our country. Over the time on this thread for our upcoming cruise and over my years posting on these Dissboards, I have gained many many friends, and met so many nice people, many with a great sense of humour, (And Robert).
Its so nice that whilst we can be thousands of miles away we can have a conversation and share ideas and organise a trip of a lifetime.
A lovely post like this means the world to me, Yes I am passionate about London and England, I have lived here all my life, my Dad used to take me on *trains* down London from a very early age, and we would walk around the city, and I got to know it by second nature. I cant get lost in London, and have as a geek, been to all Tube stations bar 5 (4 opened recently), and a lot of the mainline rail, and when in the past there wasn’t a congestion charge drove all over London. I now take my son on *trains* over weekends, and my work involves me travelling all over the Greater London area, and thats still interesting.
I do not know the famous person who made this quote, but it goes, A person who is tiered of London is tired of Life.
As you all know, not everyone is always pleased by the frank honest way that I post, I have the best of intensions to tell it as it is, and be honest, but one or two do not agree, I am dropping off the Disbaords from the 18th. I will post my cruise photos on my facebook account, and a trip report there, and then look forward to RCCL in 2011.
I might book a DCL cruise in 2012, if they go where I expect them to go, we shall see at the end of September.
May everyone have a fantastic cruise and vacation you are all lovely people. (Inc Robert).

Andrew,
I have to echo all the others sentiments. Your insight and advice and helpful maps etc have been invaluable to me and all of us. Your love for Disney definitely shines thru :wizard: Looking forward to meeting you and your family. I hope things work out for the best with regards to Anastasia tours and the payment situation.

Hi Sandy,

Just hang a bag outside of your cabin and call it your FE! You already have your gifts to give out and many of us have already gotten something for you.

Monica

Okay gang, enough of you have convinced me to hang "something" outside on my FE. Our cabin number is #6089. If you have extra gifts and care to include us fine, if not don't worry about it. Not sure what my FE will look like but be prepared to laugh in case its just a big old SOCK! :lmao::rotfl:

:thumbsup2

But dont trust them past a week!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunny Wed,Fri,Sat, Sun, light Rain Thurs this week, 22c>25c but nothing further than that.

We could stay sunny for a while but normally a heatwave like this breaksdown with Thunder storms,

I would be more inclined to find out what the weather forecasts are for the Baltic ports. I have started putting our clothes out in anticipation of packing next week, but I'm nervous that I'm taking too many sleeveless tops for myself and short sleeve shirts for DH. We're hoping to get by with just a lightweight jacket but thinking we might want to throw in a sweatshirt too:confused3

For those wondering about Stockholm and Sigtuna my friend did that tour last week and it still includes lunch whereas Skansen does not. I believe she said they served chicken. Our all aboard time in Stockholm was 3:45. She was aboard before that so I don't know if it will affect your times to shorten the day.

They ran a free shuttle from the ship to the side of the Royal Palace in the Old Town but there were issues with extremely long lines of people waiting to return to the ship in the afternoon. They ran four buses but it still took time.

Yes there were bugs in St. Petersburg, large ones. They landed on me but I don't recall them biting me.
Bring sunscreen.

UGH! Big bugs and me don't get along at all :headache::lmao:

Four cruise ships will be in St. Petes on July 24, and FIVE on July 25.

That's a lot of crowds.

In the month of July, that's the only day with five ships. Most days have three or fewer.

Boy that is a lot of ships in port at one time. Expect crowds and long lines! :rolleyes1

I plan to use the laundry service on the ship ( NOT self-service ...it's my vacation !)Very Simple ; 2 colors: navy & lime green ( ex blk dress & red casual dress), OH...3 pr shoes ( maybe 4 :) )

All the more reason to do private tours if possible.

We're also hitting the Hermitage before it opens with Anastasia, but do I need to specifically ask to see the Treasure Room? Sounds special....uh, what is it?

The Treasures Room is also called the Gold Room and needs to be booked in advance and there's a separate charge for it. There are many ancient gold pieces and some of the various tsar's pieces in the collection. It was well worth the money and time we spent to see the room the last time we were at the Hermitage.

Congrats on the puppy - name? breed? Can't wait to see the picture

Celestine
Her name is Lizzie. She is a toy poodle. 2.4 pounds I will upload a picture once I upload it to photobucket. She is apricot colored on the body with her face a dusting of place and a white spot on her chest.
Congrats:cheer2:

The cats don't particularly like her, but they don't run away from her. Lizzie doesn't chase the cats which is good. The cats basically stalk her around the corners of the walls and the stair case.

Who's Going On A DCL TOUR ??

I thought it would be fun to post the DCL tours that we're doing to see who all is going with us !

Scrapycruiser ( Gina& Bruce ) : OSLO HIGHLIGHTS
TIVOLI GARDENS & HARBOR TOUR
CULTURAL SPLENDOR OF BERLIN

Where are you going ??

These are the ones we're doing:

Berlin: "Berlin On Your Own" (basically just the train service)
Tallinn: "Old Town and Lahemaa National Park"

Not a lot, we prefer mostly to go on our own.

1 formal night (first sea day), 1 semiformal (first sea day after Stockholm). Villains night is casual.

Welcome, Danielle !:flower3: Don't remember seeing you on the boards.

Fun to see what folks are doing in port ! :cool1:

We are flying out of Dulles next Wed. :thumbsup2

Wishing all of you happy sailings. The Baltics are unbelievable.
We just returned Monday. Can't believe it will be a month tomorrow since we left for the Inagural Sailing of the Magic.

Not sure if it was posted by earlier cruisers regarding the glass factory excurions through DCL in Norway, DON"T WASTE YOUR TIME! Talked with fellow passengers who were very disappointed with the 10 min "tour" of the factory and then left to shop for the remaining hours.

We were so fortunate to join 3princessmommy and her family who had pre-arranged for a driver for the entire day. Visit to the factory was very interesting. Joan's daughters were so excited to take home candles they had made. Thanks! Joan for arranging such a great excursion.
