7/14/2014 - 12-Night Mediterranean Cruise (with Greece) Venice to Barcelona

Anyone go to Greek weekend at Disneyland? Heard it was a hit! Sure wish we could have gone but with college graduation, Uncles 101 birthday, and our church festival the same weekend we just couldn't.
Hope Disney does it again next year...:thumbsup2 we will be there for sure....

Hi, everyone!

We were on the 6/29/11 10-night Med cruise and the weather was amazing. I think it rained the afternoon we were in Rome, but hardly at all. It was very, very hot for our day in Naples/Pompeii, but even that was bearable.

Hi all!

Im getting ready to head out for our Med cruise in a about 25 days. Getting so excited! I will be in Venice on July 3rd and 4th! Will report back!!! :)

Have a great time!!!:cool1:

checked into changing our cruise into DVC points and boy to they want a lot!...
So thinking of renting out my points to pay for the cruise.
Has anyone had a lot of experience doing this? I have rented small amounts on the DIS but never a bunch....:confused3

Good question, I always wondered if this was worth it or not...

currently booked on the July 5th 9 night out of Venice, crunching numbers and thinking about switching to this one instead.... If I decide to do it, I'll be booking on board my June 27th 12 night Med Cruise....

It is almost impossible to use DVC points on long cruises as you have to save & borrow & then are able to purchase 1 or 2 & have to pay cash for the rest at the time of booking.

I had never rented until just recently & I used the David's Vacation Club Rentals. Only first half of the transaction is complete & so far so good.

I have, in the past, banked and borrowed to get enough to use on cruises. We did the MED in '07 but the Baltic in '10 we only had enough points for two people and paid for the third.

I have enough points for three people for this cruise, just barley. At first I was short 4 points and the guy said I could by them at $15.00 per point. When I asked if my dollars reservation could be moved to a dummy one since it was booked on board and I am getting 10% off he said they, dvc, will give me a discount on points...so he re-figured the whole thing and it would save us 14 points total!!! Are you kidding me!? So the 10% discount, which in our case was $1,000.00 only equaled 14 points!!! Or $15.00 times 14 points =$210.00. Plus I have a $200 OBC if I pay cash and with points there is no OBC.!!

DH and I talked it over and we have listed this years points with Paul at the DVC Rental. We will see how it goes. If it goes good we will be able to pay for the cruise in cash and have money left over for hotels or air travel.

On the vacation club Facebook page I posted questions about renting and the two companies with the most recommendations were the one you are using and the one I went with. We just listed them a couple days ago so we will see.

I have, through the DIS Board, rented some out in the past myself but it is so much work....

Good luck to you, oh and me too!!! :thumbsup2

We booked opening day and are planning to cancel and rebook on-board during our Panama Canal cruise in September if the pricing has not gone up too much. Would really like the discount but was not going to risk not getting what we wanted for category and stateroom by waiting. Just gonna watch and see what happens :surfweb:

14 points discount is ridiculous!!!! I sometimes don't know what they are thinking.

The prices are holding pretty steady. Just a few weeks ago the prices for 5C went up by $687 for a family of 4. Currently 5B prices are lower than 5C.

Well we committed ourselves to rent out our vacation club points to pay for the cruise! So far we have rented enough to pay for the third person in our stateroom. In the first day and 1/2 of signing up!

I have missed some other opportunities to rent because the email comes while I am still asleep...we are on the West Coast and the company I signed up with is on the East....they send them out to several who have signed up and then it's first come..also got one email late because I was in a dead zone...and had no service :sad2:...I have my cell phone set up to let me know when every email comes in...(except in the middle of the night)
That what I don't have to sit at the computer 24/7....:coffee:

Just a little update...
we are 3/4 of the way there already in less than a week of renting our points.
We are very happy with Paul from DVC Rental!!

anyone thought about airlines yet?
I have looked at American and I don't like how we would have to fly into London Heathrow and then out of London Gatwick to get to Venice.
We have airline miles with American and we hope we can use them for the flight.

Since we have to come from the West Coast it will be somewhat harder. Planning on flying out of SFO if it makes it easier..

Any thoughts?
