7/13/13 ~~ Eastern Mediterranean Mouseketeers!

Sorry to say that I have jumped ship. We moved to the late June sailing with Venice.

My parents will be in Venice that week on vacation and we thought it would be awesome to meet up there. They go each year and can be our personal guides.

Have a wonderful cruise!!!!!!!!!!!

:surfweb:Thanks for letting us know. Have a great cruise next June!

have a great trip! Will look for anyone writing TR afterwards.

BTW - the last time we flew into Barcelona with Disney and had the transfer's we were on an early a.m. flight.. We were totally exhausted but of course the ship was not ready for us yet, so Disney had made arrangements to take us on a city tour around Barcelona... a nice sentiment... however, we were beyond tired due to the time change and by the time we actually got on the ship all we wanted to do was sleep!

This time we will leaving Canada on June 28th and spending the two weeks prior to the cruise travelling through Germany and France...so no jet lag for us once we get on the ship.

My suggestion would be to those of you thinking of flying in on the same day... don't do it... come in the day before and pay the night at the hotel.. You will enjoy your first day on the ship so much more.

Denise

I assume that's per night & then the transfers are additional? When they say ground transfers are round trip does that mean from airport to hotel then to ship and on return to airport?

Sorry if these are stupid questions! Last time we took a red eye flight in and took DCL ground tranfers right to the ship & right back to the airport on return.

Hi all,

We have stayed in Barcelona a couple of times - once with DCL & once on our own. I'm not experienced with adding the transfers on with any variation - except that we added one transfer after booking just 2 in the room. With DCL they would not allow 3 to a room in any of their hotels that year, so we booked for 2 & called the hotel directly to make sure we had room in there for a 3rd. It was the AC, lovely view of the water, ultra modern, spacious, and right on the HOHO bus line. It's really tough to get DCL to give you a room for more than 2 people, unless things have changed. Most hotels are like that in barcelona, but we also stayed on our own once right on Las Ramblas, at the Hotel Continental, and had no problems with more than 2.

It's not for everyone --- old building, funky & loud (we were right over the "action" below, but I brought my squishy earplugs & was fine), but we LOVED it, and they do allow 3 or 4 in a room. It is clean & has a nice modern bath & free wifi (but bring a converter). Super *pink* decor...lol You can read about it in Rick Steve's Spain book, & it has a food bar & beer/wine on tap that is also included. We went for the whole experience & got a balcony room overlooking the "show" below on La Rambla & had a great time - small balcony just seats 2, but it's a hoot. It's within walking distance of the HOHO buses, but you need a taxi to get to the port (around $20 euros, including luggage, as i recall). For the extra persons, they bring in thick foam temporary beds & it is tight, so think of it as an option for a different experience (different than DCL's generic hotels ;))!

FE update....

I have received a few PMs, the official list is started, and when we get a bit closer to the 6 month mark, I'll also go back to the Roll call list & check with anyone originally signed up there.

In my experience, when a cruise is this far out so many people move around that you end up doing a whole new list anyway, lol, but I will post it from time to time for verification & please continue to PM me if you know for sure you would like to do this, including all first names, plus children's gender/ages & whether you would like to opt for one or more groups of 20-25 or the whole group. :grouphug:

.

I checked out the Barcelona Continental and was able to book a room for 4 (they will provide 2 rollaways) for 165 Euro's per night - includes 24 hour buffet... Thanks for the advice... Can cancel up to 48 hours in advance..

I also tried that expensive hotel that was mentioned but they were no bookings available at that time, not sure if Disney has booked that out or if it is too far out to get the booking for that hotel.

Hi All,

Was at WDW last week and have not checked in for a while. Love the graphic of our logo. Must have missed that. Great job and thank you to whomever is responsible for it.

Our DS is getting married in July so we are knee deep in wedding plans. They are going to Aulani for their honeymoon and then we go for our 35th Anniv. when they return so I have been busy researching Hawaii. I've been trying to pop in now and then to keep posted on the great things happening on this thread.

I'll try to pop in more often!

Wanted to alert everyone that the link on page one to our cruise logo seems to be down -- it is the one that goes to Millipie's 4shared account (her direct link is in post 4 Miscellany). I believe that Millipie's 4shared site has been having problems. To get around it, you can right click on the image (our page 1 first post) and download it that way. What happens, I think, is that you can access the image via my photobucket account. So hopefully that should work for anyone needing it before the 4shared link is fixed. If it doesn't work, please let me know.

Beth

I thought it might be fun to play a "Question of the Week" to get everyone chatting. Here we go....

Who is your favorite Disney Character?

My favorite is Tigger because of his bounce.
DP loves Mickey, DD (12) is Pluto, and DS (9) is Donald Duck.
We actually have luggage tags with our favorite characters on them so we can tell the suitcases apart. We got lots of comments on them when we traveled this summer for our 2011 Med cruise.

Minnie...she's been standing by her man for years ! Also I'm a big fan of Peter Pan...vowing never to grow up :):cool1:

I have a soft spot for Mickey.

Figaro! I just love how he has so much personality & expression. He reminds me a bit of each cat I've had in my life :lovestruc

When you booked this, did you have to pay the full cost up front charged to your card now, and you say you can cancel up to 48 hours in advance for a full refund? Or did you just have to give a CC number to hold the reservation now, and you can cancel anytime up to 48 hours without getting charged anything?

This place sounds like a great deal.

We are a family of 5 and did the 7/9/11 med cruise. We stayed at Casp74 apartments - 2 bed 2 bath with a full kitchen that slept 6. Great deal. Found that other DCL cruisers used it as well.
