I am thinking of making my own autograph book. I found a nice spiral 6x6 scrapbook today at AC Moore. It has 40 pages. What I want to do with my autograph book is do the autograph on one side, the picture of my child with the character on the other side. Are there any 6x6 spiral bound that come big than 40 pages? I am not sure 20 autograph pages will be enough. Any other ideas?

Thanks

I've never done an autograph scrapbook, but since you've got a 6x6 page to fill, would it work if you had a couple of charcters sign on one side, and then crop the coordinating pics for the other side? You could group characters who kind of go together...Chip/Dale, Pooh/Tigger. In a book that big, I bet you will find that you can fit more than one character on a page. Good luck! Sounds neat.

Ya know, I was thinking of the same thing. With the those spiral bround scrapbooks, the album can really turn into a neat altered mini-album. I saw adding lots of notions and tabs on some of my daughter's or son's favorite pictures, etc. The cover would be awesome to embellish, too.

I was concerned about the number of pages as well. I really like the spiral album idea, so what if we brought pre-cut cardstock on a mini-clipboard to simply put INTO the spiral bound album?

I don't know... I want it to be a cool book for the kids to look back on, but I also want ease of getting it out to get signed (which, the clipboard may make more difficult)...

I saw the idea on a trip report - there was a picture of the cover embellished and it just got my wheels turning! I could use their favorite characters and colors for the cover and make it unique for them. I keep going back and forth on this - it would be fun to bring it pre decorated but it would probably make more sense to have a top loading one so I can add more pages as needed. I am just not sure how much fun having a character sign an index card would be LOL

I like the idea of having 2 characters on 1 page. I was also thinking of having 2 books, incase. Then you have back up if needed, and when you get home, you could make 1 book by undoing the spiral part, and lacing it up with ribbons.

Or a book for each park would be cute too.

Please post pics of the final product....

I've seen where someone made large tags, double matted I think, and then had those on a little clipboard for the signing part. The when she got home the tags went into the album with the pictures. I thought that was cool because I also thought using the index card seemed kinda blah.

I had NOT thought of undo-ing the spiral bound book after the trip.... I think that's brillant! Have you done it before? Is it relatively easy to do? I love the books bound with ribbon, so that would be cute.

I wonder how the kids would feel about having one book done. If they both had a spiral bound book to get signed, then I could simply put them together when I was scrapping it after the trip. Hmmmmmmm....

Anyone know of or have any pictures of the spiral bound book used?

Also, do you think the paper is thick enough for a Sharpie permanent marker? Oh, geese, I wonder if the Sharpie is acid free!?

I am finishing my dd's 6x6 spiral autograph bk. tonight at a crop, i can post the pics tomorrow! I used mod podge to glue down some disney papers on the front, I will share more tomorrow! (BTW- i have to finish 5 books tonight!! LOL)

You know, I thought I had saved a pic if that laced up binding. :confused3 It was really cute. They used 2 colors of ribbon, and laced from the bottom of the spine to the top...like a sneaker, so it crossed. Then at the top there was a bow, and at the long ends of the ribbons there were Mickey Icon heads...

The 6x6 seems like a great size. I am doing a 5 3/4 binder with decorated pages for our autograph books. I am having a blast. I have some plastic sleeve protectors to protect the pages.

Please share Caitsmama!! I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I love do altered mini albums as gifts. If I can get the covers done, and then make a double matted area on every-other page for the characters to sign on, I should be in good shape. I think I will have to do one for each of my kids (my DD is 7 and will definitely appreciate a princess one over a general Disney one).

I think I will bring a blank spare book as well, incase I need extra sheets for signing.

Thanks for helping me make my decision!

I have never done this before so I am not sure if this will work but I am thinking about making large tags and holding them together with a jump ring and having them signed. When I get home and work on my book I can add the tags to the page about the character.

Will that work?

I love the idea of tags for the signatures, but you will need to keep them on something that is larger than a usual tag and something flat for them to hold them on to sign them. Many of the characters cannot see, or even feel, what they are signing, so you need to make it as easy as possible for them.

I had the idea of making an altered clipboard for the pages (or tags) to be clipped onto for the characters to sign them on. Staples sells the mini-clipboards that are perfect for this.

I have a large sizzix tag die if anyone know the size of that. I was thinking about using those in different colors. Primary colors and pastels for the princesses.

Caitsmama,

I'd love to see a pic when you get a chance! I was thinking of doing the same (mod podge cover). :)

I started my kids' two 6x6 spirals last night. For the covers, I am just using regular adhesives (being generous).... do you think that will be okay? Maybe I will mount the page that I am making for the cover with modge podge underneath, but I won't be doing it over the top (it's 3D). I may need to store them in ziplocks in my day bag to protect them (from water, too, just in case).

For the inside, I have been battling what to do for the trip itself. I planned to put double pages, facing one another, of a color, to mat the white page that I would mount in the middle of the color. Then, the character could sign on side and the pic with oppose it. Well, then I got to thinking, of my son getting excited and putting the wrong page in front of the character and getting two pages facing each other signed, etc. (I am sorry, I am a planner and uptight about these things!)

So, I decided to simply put one page for each character to sign in the book for now. I found that the book comes apart rather simply. I will take it apart carefully and add the other pages with the pictures when we get home. I won't have to worry about the other pages being left blank, and the kids will be excited to see the book looking complete from the beginning.

I am still looking for a Tink the right size for my daughter's cover, but I hope to finish my son's tonight. I'll post pictures soon!

How is everyone else doing??

Sounds like a good idea. Are you going to put them on a clipboard to steady them?

Here's TJ's autograph book! I have glued down colored sheets on each page inside to be signed. After we're home, I will add the sheets for the pictures and ties for the spirals! I'm thrilled to have it done! One more to go!

Ohmigosh, Amy, that looks incredible! I am so impressed. TJ must be thrilled!

(I really need to post ours, even though they are not as cute.)

Thank so much! TJ won't see it until the morning we leave when he opens his care package! My kids don't know about their trip in 37 days! It'll be their first time. I am channeling all my nervous excitement through my crafting!

I'll post pictures of Mally's once I finish it! Hers is going to be Tink.
