We have a 6pm ADR at Rose and Crown in Aug. is this way to early to see Illuminations? I was thinking we could ask to wait for a table with a good view (5 people). Can't get a later time ADR's are really booked due to free dining I guess. :moped: :badpc: :dance3: :bounce:  :cool1:

I'm pretty sure that's too early. I believe that Illuminations is at 9:00 and you'd have to eat real slow to drag it out over 3 hours.

I've eaten at the R&C once during Illuminations. It actually was one of my worst viewings of Illuminations. We just happened to pick a night when the smoke was headed towards the United Kingdom. So we were trapped at our table in it. Pick a good spot upwind and you should have a great view, even better then from the R&C.

Yes, that would be way too early to stay for Illuminations, IMO. 2 hours for dinner at R&C would be pushing it (depending on wait times), but tying up a table 3 hours, just for the view of Illuminations, is not justifiable to me.

Last I knew they weren't allowing people to wait for tables. You got what you got when your name came up. IMHO that's WAY too early to take a table and wait for Illuminations. That table should turn at least two if not three time between 6 and 9:30 pm.

If you do decide to hold a table for that long, keep in mind that you are probably keeping someone else from having dinner as the restaurant booked that table based on a 60-75 minute turnover, and the server is losing out on at least two if not three tables, so I'd plan on at least tripling the 20% tip on your very large meals.

They won't make you leave. Once you are in the restaurant, they aren't going to kick you out. However, since Illuminations doesn't start until 9 PM, you should plan to eat slowly. You can't just sit at the table and not have a drink or dessert or anything. That would be rude. Also, make sure to tip your server well if you stay that long, since the table should have been turned over at least once in that time. JMO.

Hey, I went over 2,000 posts!!! Yaaaahhh! :cheer2:

Ok. Moment over.

Our ADR is for 7:20pm. I don't even think I am going to ask for the "special" tables. I'm just going to see what we end up with and see if any pixie dust is in the air. pixiedust: If we don't get a great table, we will go out on the patio, or whatever it is to see Illuminations. I will be happy that I didn't have to fight and save a spot an hour before and I'm sure our view will be nice. I did think this was about as early as I should make it, though. Maybe not. But an hour and forty minutes for dinner was pushing it, I thought. Ofcourse, that assumes we get in at 7:20.......we might have to wait a little for a table.

We had ADR's at Rose and Crown for 7:30 in April. We got a table inside and were finished eating by 8:40. Didn't order appetizers or desserts though. We waited at the table until around ten til 9 since DD4 had fallen asleep in my lap, before going outside to the patio to watch Illuminations. We had a great view, but DD4 was terrified of the fireworks and noise, so I had to take her away. So yeah, I would guess 6 would be way early.

imho, too early as well. my dw and i have ate at rose and crown and gotten 7:45 ressies in order to watch illuminations. i would eat and camp out along the water edge and get a prime spot after dinner. maybe get an ice cream snack :)
