6 Nights of Chicken Wings, Car Accidents, and Calorie Laden Meals! 1/26 COMPLETE

This is why I'm scared I'll NEVER get to eat in the castle :scared1:, all i have is my husband and son (20 months now) and I'm guessing neither will care to go. I know some men go with their wives/girlfriends but if its overly girly I don't think I will get my men to go. Same with the Tea at the GF. I love the snow we just got but then again I don't have to commute within the metro so I just get to enjoy how it looks! Everytime I see another review of Ohana I am happy its our first meal of our trip this January! Everything looks so good! Oh and your pup is SOOO cute!
That is exactly why I would never have gone if not for a girl! You will definitely love Ohana. I think it is my favorite restaurant at Disney.

Mmmmm...that breakfast looked yummy!! We've done lunch a few times, but never breakfast.
Now I want to...LOL!

Love Lola!! Is she a maltipoo? I ask because I have a one and she looks alot like my Schatzi (except for color)

She is a cockapoo, so close! A cocker spaniel and a poodle. I love her! What is a Schatzi??

Your 'Ohanas experience was better than ours. Food was cold and blah.

The castle meal looked good. maybe we will try it in December next year.

Oh no! I hope you give it another try. I have always found the noodles get cold quickly.

Great review of the CRT!! You can tell by the pictures, you both had a blast!!!

We did!! We had sooo much fun. It was an amazing experience.

.

LOL! Schatzi is her name, not a breed! :lmao:
(It's a German term of endearment meaning "treasure")
She is a malitpoo.

Sorry, not mocking you AT ALL, it was just funny! Of course with all the crazy new breeds nowadays, you never know, right??

Haha too funny! I thought she was like part Schnauzer and something else. Lol! aww maltipoos are cute!!

SOOOOO! I just found out I was invited to a meeting/training/workshop in Orlando on Jan 8th and 9th!!!!!! That means I am making a trip out of it!! Just me, myself, and I!!! I arrive on Sat Jan 5th and then switch to the work hotel at the end of the day on Monday the 7th! I know it is short notice but I am super excited!!

I am staying at POP and so far all I have as a ressie is Crystal Palace Breakfast!!!

But I still want one arrival dinner, I am thinking a signature (wish Cali Grill was open)?? One MK Dinner (Kona or GFC), Two Epcot restaurants, I am thinking Monsier Paul(might be too fancy for me though), Les Chefs de France ( wouldn't do both of those), Coral Reef, San Angel?

anyone have any suggestions on where to eat by myself? Where I can be tucked away in a corner?? Lol. I haven't really ate by myself but I am willing to do it for Disney food!!

HOW AWESOME!!!! That worked out great!

You may want to try The Wave at CR for a dinner. I hear great reviews and being a solo diner there shouldn't be an issue since it is quieter and more subdued with plenty of conventioners that dine solo.

For your Epcot meals...I'm not familiar with Monsier Paul (one day though...) or San Angel. I'm not a fan of Coral Reef food but it would be an cool atmosphere for the theming. Tokyo Dining may be a good choice too since it is rather low key and I've seen solo diner there.

I look forward to seeing how your plans shape up!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I know I did, but now our apartment is a mess from the massive amount of presents we got. Haha.

I am going to be in Disney on Saturday! So crazy to think of! I just booked the deluxe dining plan today!!! Oh my!! I figured I will never go to disney solo again, my boyfriend would never get the DDP, I would never want that much food for a long trip, so I figured it is perfect to try it!

Here is what I have booked:

Kona Lunch
Boma Dinner
CP Bkfast
BOG Lunch (not booked but plan to eat there)
Artist Point Dinner
Les Chefs/San Angel/Coral Reef lunch
Le Cellier Dinner

I am excited! Two signatures and 5 potential places I have never ate at!

Anyways, on to our MK counter service.

After our breakfast Emily and I weren't hungry but Corey was. We went to Columbia Harbor House and he got fried shrimp with the apple crisp.

He though there was too much breading on the shrimp. His verdict was that they were just ok.

IMG_2260.jpg

I ate the apple crisp and it was good! The pictures never look good but they are. It is warm and soft and real apples inside! I really like this.

IMG_2261.jpg

A few hours later I went to Pinnochio's Village Haus for a snack. I knew I would have extra CS left so I ordered the BBQ pizza with mango gelato.

IMG_2299.jpg

This was gross!!!! As you can see there is barely no toppings on the outside. They are all piled in the middle. The chicken was gross too. It was really soft and didn't taste right, almost fake. The flavor wasn't bad but where there were no toppings the bread was hard and unedible.

The mango gelato was good. It is more of a sorbet and it tastes like pureed mangoes. such a good healthy dessert option because it has no sugar added!
IMG_2300.jpg

My snack was a Pinneaple Dole Whip Float. I got the vanilla swirl. For some reason this batch barely had any pineapple. It was mostly vanilla. It was still oh so good. That vanilla mixed with the tart juice is so good. When you get that icy pineapple dole whip mixed in it is heaven! The more I get this the more I like it.

I love this pic!

Next up: The Wave Dinner

I would try the Wave but we just ate there in November. That is coming up next! I really liked it but want to try something else before I go back.

You're going to have so much fun with those ADRs!!! I think they are exactly the ADRs that I would make. I'm going to have my first solo dining experience next month (just for one dinner) when I'm at WDW next month. My friend arrives at a different time on our first night so I thought it would be a great opportunity to bring a book and have a relaxing dinner. I can't wait to hear all about your upcoming trip.

Would you believe that I had a Dole Whip one time and I thought it was just ok? Everyone seems to love them so much that I thought there must be something wrong with me. I think I'd like it better with the vanilla swirl though so I'll try that next time. And that flatbread does look weird! Too bad that it also didn't taste good - at least that might make up for all of the toppings piled in the middle!

Wow! The line up looks great for Sat's trip!!! Have fun!! I'll def. need the scoop for DLX DDP b/c if we get a FD offer for the future we are thinking of upgrading it to DLX. How many nights is the min. for the DLX DDP?

Tonight we had a reservation at the Wave for Dinner.

We got there fairly early and we all took naps in the lobby of the contemporary beforehand! Haha.

It was a pretty restaurant but we were sitting in a side room that was a little old fashioned. It wasn't as pretty as the main restaurant.

Our server was a goofball. Haha. He was really really nice but he seriously went on and on for about 5 minutes about the different of Australian steak vs. Canadian Steak. They serve Australian steak at the Wave apparently.

He was so knowledgeable about everything on the menu that it was a bit absurd.

So this is where the car accidents from the title come in. While we were ordering I explained Corey is a bit picky he doesn't like certain things.

And then he goes Oh don't worry I don't like certain things either. Like, car accidents! I am like what, who does like car accidents??! Haha it was so random!!

I hate the straws that you get here! It is those yucky paper straws.

The bread is a multigrain bread with butter with sea salt on it.

IMG_2329.jpg

It isn't anything special but the few pieces of sea salt you get are quite good with the creamy butter.

We all ordered the same entree. The grilled beef tenderloin with three potato hash and butternut squash risotto.

Corey substituted fries for the risotto. He saw a table with french fries so he asked for french fries. The server acted like Corey was an idiot and said they don't have french fries they have "baked" fries. I am sorry but that is the same thing.

IMG_2330.jpg

IMG_2331.jpg

Wow, that was a good entree!! I guess Australian steak is very good:thumbsup2

The butternut squash risotto was the standout, along with the steak. It wasn't really risotto as we know it, but it was small chunks of butternut squash. This was sooo good. It was creamy and flavorful and cooked perfectly!

The three potato hash was not that good. It had sweet potatoes, purple potatoes, and idaho potatoes? The sweet potatoes were the only good part. The other potatoes were horrible. The purple potato wasn't cooked very well at all!

The steak was so good and cooked to a perfect medium! It was so tender.

Here is Corey's with the baked fries.

IMG_2332.jpg

He really liked it which I was very glad about because he was very hesitant to eat here but it is too different for him.

Emily and I ordered the Creamy Indulgence with Cheesecake with an apple compote, chocolate mousse, and a creme brulee.

IMG_2334.jpg

IMG_2337.jpg

This is the cheesecake. The cheesecake was very good but the apple compote on top did not go with it. I don't like cheesecake with apples.

IMG_2336.jpg

The creme brulee was ok. It had a horrible brulee crust, it was basically non existent.

The standout was the chocolate mousse.

IMG_2335.jpg

It was soo soo good. The mousse was chilled and it had a great texture, not too light not too heavy. The crust on the outside was excellent! It reminded me kind of the crust on the oreo bon bons!

Corey had the fall ice cream trio.

IMG_2333.jpg

He really loved this!! I am not sure what flavors are on this currently because he is passed out on the couch. All I know is that he loved it!

Overall we had a very solid meal here. We had good service even if he was a little odd.

I would definitely return.

At least they offer some type of 'fries' now. Last time we were there they didn't have anything for me to sub. I am very picky and did not want the white bean mashed that the server told me tasted just like mash potatoes. Um.No. Thank You!! I find this place very 'putoffish' if that is a word. Glad to hear you had a decent meal tho!!

I did have lots of fun! I was fine eating alone. It was relaxing. I was like you, I didn't like Dole Whip when i first had it, but mixed with the vanilla it was yummy!

How was the MOA this holiday season? We went twice and it wasn't too bad.

I think the minimum is 2, or it might be one night with any package?? I am not sure to be honest. My stay was only 2 nights.

Yeah they were a little putoffish! I can see what you mean. White bean mashed does sound weird!!

Next up was our lunch at Le Cellier! We had to get it in before it switched over to 2 credits (little did I know that wouldn't be my last time):thumbsup2.

Our lunch was at 11:30am, which is when they start serving so we got to see them sing the Canadian national anthem. All of the servers come out in the lobby and sing then they all seat you right at once!

We got the infamous pretzel bread which was delicious (sorry no pic).

I got the Canadian cheddar cheese soup, which is oh so good! I love that soup. It does have a bit of a kick and is very flavorful and creamy. Definitely salty too but I like that.

IMG_2427.jpg

Emily and I ordered the filet mignon with the truffle butter sauce. Emily got the cream cheese mashed potatoes and I ordered the mushroom risotto.

IMG_2428.jpg

Emily really liked hers and she really liked the mashed potatoes but was a little grossed out by the blood from her steak turning the mashed potatoes red, we both got our steak cooked medium, which was a perfect temp for us.

I once again loved this entree. The risotto was a bit stiff this time and not as creamy as it usually is, but it is still good.

IMG_2429.jpg

IMG_2431.jpg

Corey got the NY strip with the cream cheese mashed potatoes and he devoured it like any man should!

IMG_2430.jpg

For dessert Corey ordered the chocolate mousse. He gave me chin part of the mousse. This mousse is soo good. It is divine. Rich but not too rich, I don't like rich chocolate so this is the perfect combo of milk/dark.

IMG_2432.jpg

I ordered the pecan pie in a glass. It has layers of pecan pie, then chocolate mousse, and maybe chocolate cake?

First of all this was huge. It was the size of a large rocks glass. It was way too rich for me. I am not sure if the chocolate mousse is the same that is used in the chocolate "moose" but it was so rich. To top it off they poured chocolate powder on top which is the same stuff that they put on tiramisu which is horrible!

I barely ate 1/4 of this dessert. It wasn't gross, it was just too much.

IMG_2435.jpg

Emily ordered the no sugar added dessert. I believe it had puff pastry with a cream on top then apple compote.

IMG_2433.jpg

We both liked the puff pastry with the cream. We didn't care for the apples. Surprise surprise. I seem to remember the same thoughts with the cheesecake from the Wave.

All in all a solid meal at Le Cellier. Maybe not the best yet but it was good!

We had a few snacks and beverages around the World Showcase.

Corey had the kaki-gori and he always loves these. He gets cherry and tangerine.
IMG_2451.jpg

Then we made a pit stop to La Cava del Tequila. We walked inside and saw a line about 20 people deep waiting! I was like oh no!!! Turns out they were all waiting for margaritas to go. We got right in by sitting at a table!

Corey really wanted the queso blanco but I guess they don't serve that during the Food and Wine Festival. He was pretty upset, no joke!

I ordered the infamous Avocado Margarita. I didn't love this margarita. I really liked the texture and it was a lot more creamy that traditional frozen margaritas. It was a little too sweet for me. I like my margaritas to be a little "spicy salty" If that makes sense. I only had half of mine. Emily drank all of hers and then we went on Mission Space! Wrong idea. She didn't feel that great after that.

IMG_2477.jpg

Next up was an event I was really looking forward to- the Mixology seminar. Our sponsors were Cointreau, which is a liquor they use in margaritas, and Mt Gay Rum.

They start with an overview about the companies and the information about the liquor. Then they make the drinks which was really a joke. He just threw the stuff in. Then workers come around with carts of the drinks. They drinks are really just glorified shot glasses. 4 sips and you are done. Corey was worried he was going to be bored but luckily it is an open room so he was able to sit outside and watch and listen. He doesn't drink so I didn't want to buy him a ticket.

The first drink was called a Fall Harvest Sangria. It has Cointreau, merlot wine, cranberry juice, apple cider, cinnamon and lemon lime soda in it. It was okay but you could really taste that cinnamon. I think I might cut out the cinnamon if I ever make it.

IMG_2516.jpg

By the way these drinks were not really served that cold. They were not warm but they weren't cold. I wish they would put an ice cube in it before they serve it.

If you want any drink recipes let me know and I can send you the recipe!

Our second drink was the Cointreau Coronita. It is a basic margarita with a corona in it! It was good but wow I tasted the tequila! This one was the only one where I could really taste the alcohol.

IMG_2518.jpg

The third drink was the Barbados Rum Punch. This one had the Mt Gay Rum, amaretto liqueur, grenadine, pineapple juice, and citrus sour mix. I really liked this drink! It was my favorite. I was surprised because I am not a punch lover but this was really really good.

IMG_2520.jpg

I really liked the event! There was crackers and ice water on the table too. The ice water was nice. I drank a lot. We had two drunk guys that sat next to us. In front of us was a couple, obviously drunk that were literally making out the entire time. It was disgusting. They had their hands alllll over each other, including inappropriate places. That was definitely annoying.

We got the recipes for all of our drinks, a tasting paper to write notes, and an extra recipe for this Hot Toddy which was served at the Party for the Senses.

We also got a goody bag!! I guess that isn't common at these but it had a really nice margarita glass and a Coronita corona holder.

IMG_2528.jpg

It was a really nice gesture but a little annoying to have to carry around the bag with glass in it.

I would do this event again. It was fun to try drinks I would never try even if they weren't a great amount. It was worth the $14!

Just found you DR! I really want to try that avocado margarita someday! Mixology looks really cool too. I hope you had a great solo trip! Sounds fun!

After the Mixology we made a last minute decision to go to Via Napoli. See, I was a bad Dis'er and I held two Via Napoli reservations. One for this night and one for the next day lunch. I didn't know how busy it would be with the Food and Wine festival and we really wanted pizza!!!

We were about 15-20 minutes late from the seminar but they let us in anyways. Corey was super excited to eat here because he is a big pizza fan. Emily and I are also Italian so we wanted to eat italian!

I wanted to try an appetizer here so I got something I was very curious about- the prosciutto and melon. I love both things so I decided to try them together! It was weird but good. The salty prosciutto went well with the cantaloupe. You do have to use for your knife with this and cut it into smaller pieces.

IMG_2530.jpg

I think this was like $9 which is pretty expensive for the small appetizer!

Emily got the chicken parmigiana with the fingerling potatoes. The potatoes were really good with great flavor, cooked perfectly. However, we don't think the chicken was cooked properly. We actually thought the middle wasn't cooked fully. She left the middle of the chicken. I suppose we should have sent it back but we didn't.

IMG_2531.jpg

I got the spicy sausage pizza. This was super good. I love spicy and the sausage was a nice spicy, albeit a little greasy.

IMG_2532.jpg

Corey got the pepperoni pizza and he LOOOOVED THIS! Via Napoli is now one of his must dos. Unfortunately for me, I like Via Napoli, but would rather try Tutto next.

IMG_2533.jpg

The environment was pretty awful in here. It was so incredible loud that it was horrible. Our waitress was very quiet, shy and a little awkward. She was cute as can be but very quiet. It was hard to understand her especially with how loud it was. We really couldn't even hear each other talk.

Emily got the tiramisu for dessert and she liked it.

IMG_2534.jpg

Corey got the chocolate gelato which he liked. I think it was rich though.

IMG_2535.jpg

I got the zeppole which are fried ricotta cheese fritters. I have had this before and didn't love them which is weird that I would order them again.

IMG_2536.jpg

I liked them much more this time! They were softer this time.

IMG_2538.jpg

I love dipping them in that whipped cream. I think it is freshly whipped possibly. The chocolate sauce is bitter.

Emily and Corey both loved this dessert. I think they both wished they got this! Corey still talks about the zeppole to this day.

All in all a solid meal at Via Napoli. We will be back!

This is all going to be my Food and Wine Snacks from Day 1.

First I went to the Florida local and had the Key Limen wine and the Sangria.

The Key Limen was way tooo sour and the Sangria was way tooo sweet. Hmm, now that I say this I should have mixed them!

this brand of wine is all over the place in Florida and I have tried the Tangelo and I love that so I wanted to try these.

IMG_2454.jpg

Next I tried the Swedish meatballs with lingonberry!

IMG_2499.jpg

YUM, these were good! I mean, they weren't that much different from Ikea but the sauce was still really nice mixed with the lingonberries!

In the food and wine festival building I tried the drinking chocolate.

IMG_2504.jpg

BLECH! It was way too much like cocoa powder and it was a lot thinner than I thought it was going to be!

That is it for Day 1 of the Food and wine fest. More food and wine coming up shortly!

I had the Tandoori breakfast at Art of Animation the next day. We had to use up our quick service credits so we decided to do it for breakfast.

IMG_2584.jpg

The only thing I didn't really like was that sausage. It was a little too hard and I don't think I liked the flavor.

the bread was a little crispy too but it had great flavor. I loved those potatoes! They were like red skinned and had a great skin with sea salt!

emily had an omelette that she enjoyed!

IMG_2586.jpg

Her stomach was a little upset from the day before so I think she was trying to eat some veggies.

We ordered a drink before the bus and I got the mango smoothie. Oh wow this was sooo good ! I am obsessed with mango and this was delicious. I saw her make it and she put a lot of fruit chunks in it along with mango puree! It was a little overfilled so I just had to carry it in a napkin.
