And I am very siked!

I am treating my two best online (not DIS) buddies and their kids to 5 wonderful nights in a HH Grand Villa!

It is my first time there, heck it is all of our first times.... lol

I decided to arrive the day before, since I am hosting this little get together I feel Like I should have the lay of the land a bit.........

The kids (9 all together) range in age from 12 to 1.... and of course one in my tummy, but I hear that one isnt counted offically yet LOL)

I havent made any room requests, coz I didnt know what to ask for, but I was wondering how far away the far rooms from the main pool.... will it be a hike for the little ones?

Anyone have a list ing of which buildings the GV's are in???

Also what activities are a must do..... I know I want to do the HH Schanveger hunt that the Diser put together..... Was that the Bad Shoe.com guy???? (maybe I will post something else asking about that if I get no responces here) But I also read the Disney offers a hunt too.... is that an organized thing or is it something we can do own our own?

ALso anyone have any ideas about an area restraunt that would be good for 3 moms and a boat load of kids???

Thanks bunches!!!

Laurabearz,
I have never been to HHI so I can't answer any of your ?s - I just wanted to say
HAVE A GREAT TRIP!

Also how nice of you to treat your friends to such a nice vacation - I think thats what DVC is all about - to be able to share this with others :)

Hi Laura, I think the web site you're looking for is Tommy Towery's. He's the one that put together the treasure hunt there. I think this is the link....

The older kids may get into crab fishing off the pier at the resort -- if it's the right season for it. Our DS7 caught several crabs and a couple of shrimp too. Even our DS2 thought it was great fun.
The kids should enjoy the beach and pools. Biking may be out with your new addition on the way (which should count, don't you think, after all he/she will actually be there). When we've been there, the resort has offered kids activiities. The kids night out booked quickly when we were there so you may want to check into it as soon as you arrive if the kids are interested.
Can't help you with locations of GV. Doc did a layout and maybe when the search is up and working you could find that. The resort is not big -- if I remember correctly all of the buildings are located on 12 acres with 3 dedicated to wetlands (or something like that). I don't this it will be too much of a walk regardless of where you are for the little ones.
Are you staying in the GV with just your family that first night? That could be interesting!
Have a great trip!

Laurabearz, you are going to have so much fun!!

We spent 4 days at HHI mid-October last year and another week there this July and we love it! I was just wishing the other day that we could go back again this October, but we're going to WDW the week after Christmas instead.

Anyway, to try to help with your questions...

There was a post from WebmasterDoc dated 7-4-02 and titled 'HH Resort Statistics' that gives a run-down on villa locations, etc. I tried to search and link, but it wouldn't work for me. It does say that GV's are in bldg. #'s 16, 18, 19, 27 & 28. There is more info in the post, so you may want to try to search it.
From looking at my map, it seems that buildings 27 & 28 are closer to the pool, etc. But, the resort is relatively small, so it's really not that far from anywhere.

There's also a lot of HHI info on Tommy Towery's site. http://ttowery.tripod.com/ You'll find a link to a map of the resort here, along with the treasure hunt.

Disney does have it's own treasure hunt too. It's called Pirates of the Calibogue and is a lot of fun. It is an organized thing, free, but you need to pre-register for it.

Can't help you on the restaurants.... we either cooked in the villa or ate onsite at the Oyster Roast, BBQ, etc., but I'm sure someone will be able to jump in with some recommendations. There are a lot of restaurants!

Have a great time!!

I definitely can share your excitement. My family will be returning to HH for Thanksgiving. Can't wait. We visit at least 4 times a year so i should be able to help you with some actvity suggestions.. Luckily you will be there during a slower time, so you and your group will have no problem getting in the programs you want. The weather is warm and beautiful. The daily programs such as "pirates of the calibogue and gyotako" will be a winner with the kids. For the whole family-- Dolphin Discovery will be the highlight. Up close and personal interaction with dolphins is a must. The water is warm enough to do a family ski day of waterskiing - tubing - dolphins- all included on a 3 1/2 hour trip. the shark fishing trip is one we tried on or last visit with my grandchildren and it was sooo exciting. The captain was wonderful with the kids. They all want to grow up to be a boat captain. Disney can provide you with a list of the best restraunts. Let me know how your trip goes. HH is magical!!!

See if you can book Chef Gordon for "A Private Affair." You will love it.

tHERE IS A GREAT PIZZA (I KNOW!) PLACE IN A STRIP MALL AS YOU GO IN (IT'S IN W/A GROCERY STORE)!

WE DID MOST OF THE FANCY PLACES & WEREN'T OVERLY IMPRESSED. A LITTLE OVER PRICED FOR WHAT YOU GOT

WE DID FIND A LITTLE HOLE IN THE WALL SEAFOOD MARKET THAT HAD GREAT SHRIMP IN THEIR RESTAURANT. DOWN PAST THE RESORT ON THE RIGHT.

Have a great trip Laura! We haven't stayed at the DVC at Hilton Head yet but have stayed at Sea Pines and love the area. Hope you are feeling better. Be sure to report back.:D
