If we go for 7 days
Not counting our day of arrival - about 10 PM at the resort
and day of departure - DME about 11 am

Do a 6 day park hopper, so we can do and early AK and bus to the CR to go to MK
Start in MK and monorail to EPCOT
Start in DHS and walk/boat to EPCOT
Start in EPCOT and the monorail to MK
and two other days of swapping - depending on the Park hours

Now for the no ticket day - could be used on our last full day in WDW or the middle day of our vacation ....
Should we do the pool/laundry and Disney Springs ?
Or should we get a 7 day park hopper ?

What would you do ?

Buy 6 days now.
If you decide during your trip that you want to go to the parks every day, then upgrade when you are there.
The cost is very small to add another day to your tickets, and it's quick and simple to do.

We really like a mid week sleep in day. All that walking and getting up early everyone is so tired.
We sleep have brunch go to the pool play mini golf then go out for dinner.... the kids really like trex cafe at DS but it could be anywhere. My husband likes to think of it as a cheap day.... last time we took 2 days off our other day was spent at the melborne beach. It was well worth the car rental for the day. My DH wants us to remember its the only vacation he gets he cant go back tired.

I'd get 7 day park hopper. As others have mentioned the price difference is minimal (something like $20 per ticket). We usually try to go for around 7 days and we have to do laundry one day but that only takes a couple of hours. I wouldn't go out of my way to go to Disney Springs since I think it's just an outdoor mall, but we usually find time to go there and do some shopping for Disney souvenirs. As for touring, we usually go to the parks for rope drop, leave around 11 to grab lunch and hang out at the pool during the middle of the day, then go back to a different park in the evenings.

I am cheap, but given the small incremental cost difference between 6 and 7 day hoppers I would get them up front rather then having to take the time to upgrade them

That's going to depend on the exact dates and prices. Based on the ticker in the OP post, assuming Nov 14th is the first day in the park, a 6 Day PH Adult ticket is $635.18 USD, a Child's is $614.29. A 7 Day ticket for the same day works out to $657.82 for an Adult's and $636.20 for a Child's. For a family of 4 that's an incremental uncharge of around $90. Personally, I'd normally pay the upcharge up front, but that's me. For them, they need to figure out if that $90 is worth having the choice to attend a park of not.

We always get the PH for how ever many days we are going to be there. For example, for a 5 night stay we would get a 6 day PH. There are days that we aren't in the park for more than a hour or two, especially the day we leave but we have never taken an entire day and not gone to the parks. Sometimes on the day we leave it's just to hop to a park to buy something we decided at the last minute we wanted. This is probably a left over thought process from the days you used to could buy length of stay tickets.

We'd do 6 days and a rest/pool day...honestly sometimes hanging at the pool/resort is my kids favorite day lol.

We tend to buy PH for number of days there, not nights so a 4 night stay would be a 5 day PH. We always seem to have time to go to the pool midday, or relax in the room and watch the History channel (lol) and I always try and arrive early and depart late to make the most of our tix. When I have looked at the price difference between 4 and 5 day PH for instance it seems almost miniscule.

I am super frugal. I'd drop the park hopper and just do 6 or 7 days. For those days when you're only in the park half a day use the other half to go to DS, enjoy the pool/resort, rent a pontoon boat, or play mini golf. I detest going to two parks in a day. It's just too much running around. I think this is especially true in the hot months of summer and early fall. And with park hopper, I feel the pressure to use it since I've paid for it, which means pushing family to two parks.
Caveat: 've used park hopper when we're there for just 2-3 days. When it's a week, we fill the half days with other activities, such as pool, DS, or specialty dining.
Caveat: When we stay at an Epcot resort, then I like having park hopper to run into Epcot for dinner or HS in the evening (my kids love Star Wars).
I know others who wouldn't go to DW without park hopper. Take time to list all that you want to do and organize your trip from there.
Happy Travels!

Just wanted to note that our last few trips we've stayed at an Epcot resort, so as you caveat it is much easier to go to Epcot or even Hollywood Studios since you can walk there, so we got a lot of use out of park hopper tickets. If I stayed at a resort where I had to depend on Disney transportation to get me around then I might not get as much value from the park hopper.

We are thinking of renting a BWV standard studio - we do not care if it is a long walk to the lobby or the view - we normally keep our curtains closed at night and when we are not in the room.
Nice rates with the timeshare that is sponsoring the resort board

So if we have park hopper we can to MK to EPCOT
EPCOT to DHS
AK am and another park in the afternoon
6 days will be enough ti run around and I think one day in the middle to sleep
We would do late March or early November - "cooler" time of the year

Also look at your dining options... sometimes having that extra day is nice if you are wanting to check out different restaurants. Someone had also mentioned somewhere up there about taking a break day sometime in the mid-week. Sometimes, especially depending on the weather, we go back to our resort for an or or so between parks, just to do what we call "re-grouping." Whether this consists of a short nap, a quick swim in the pool, or simply to change clothes for some reason, it's kind of a great way to break up all the go, go, go that is any Disney Park. This is where getting the 7-day hopper would be a much better option for you, depending on who is travelling with you.

If our plan holds out we will arrive on a Friday around 10 am and for the first time ever, that will be a non-park day for us. We'll hit Disney Springs and do a bit of resort visiting.

Saturday through Friday (our departure day) we'll have Park Hopper Plus tickets. We plan to get in all 4 main parks and 1 visit each to the two water parks. Except for one all day MK day, we'll likely go to at least 2 parks per day.

For our trip in September coming up we were going to do 5 days of parks with a 6th day being a rest/DS day/transition between resorts (split stay)

we decided to go ahead and add on the 6th day of parks because it only cost like $10 more per ticket. So even if we just decide to do the evening at EPCOT it would be worth doing

We get park tickets for each day we are there outside of our departure day as we usually get there by early afternoon on arrival and will leave in the morning on departure. With hoppers, we typically will break on afternoons and go to a different park in the evening. We have done “and more” tickets and went to water parks on longer trips. We rarely do Disney Springs, no real draw as I don’t go to FL to go to a Disney mall.
