I see on here the 6pack size recommended most often.

Has anyone taken a 9 or 12pack size and been allowed in with them?

I just saw a huge one the other day, I'd say it was a 12 pack.

I think ours is a 9 pack. I love it, I bought it from Target, it's one of those Thermos brand bag style bags. It has lasted us 3 trips now to DL :)

Thanks! I was leaning towards the 9 pack size simply because DS and I are both fruit-a-holics and apples/bananas will fill the thing up quickly!

Be aware if it is larger than a 6 pack, they usually will send you to the picnic area.

Would I be able to store it in the lockers though? If so we can just go pull items out as necessary no big deal on that.

Ok, help a girl out...what ARE you allowed to take into the park food/drink wise? I keep reading conflicting information!

Not an expert, but I'm pretty sure official rule is that you don't take any food into the parks. Everyone does it though, mostly in the form of small snacks. DBF is diabetic, so I wouldn't dream of going in without some snacks on us. I carry both sugary stuff in case of low blood sugar, and low carb/sugar-free snack for when he's hungry but can't afford the carbs of the mickey pretzel or churro he'd probably get (it seems most park snacks are pretty high carb). It's also convenient if someone decides they are hungry when you're already in line for something and getting out and back in would be a hassle.

I've never seen anyone object to water bottles, though. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen anyone object to food at all, though I've never seen anyone try to take a large cooler into the parks.

If I had little ones, I'd definitely take snacks into the parks! My mom always did for us when we were little. We never ate in the parks, either. We always stored our cooler in the lockers (which are outside the parks) and had sandwiches and fruit in the picnic area (also outside the parks). This was mainly for dietary reasons as my DLittleSis had some uncommon food sensitivities.

Oh, just found Disneyland FAQ: http://disneyland.disney.go.com/faq/parks/#parks-q12

My understanding is pre-made snacks small meals okay. You could bring in a turkey sandwhich you made in the hotel but you can't bring in the individual fixings to make in the park - not sure why though. As well i dont think you can bring in like McD's/Subway.

But granola bars, pb&j, fruit, waterbottles, cans of pop are all okay.

Don't know about McD's (yuck), but we frequently bring in sandwiches from Quizno's. The security folks may make a joke about wanting to share it with us, but otherwise have passed us through without a comment.

The (mostly unwritten) rule, as I understand it, is: no alcohol or weapons, no glass containers, and you can't take fixings to make your own meal. Other than that, any pre-made sandwiches, food, and drink is OK. Plastic bottles of water or soda are definitely OK.

Good to know! I've taken food from one park to another, but never outside meals/sandwiches. And here I thought I was being bad taking my Riverbelle Terrace Veggie Po' Boy into DCA with me.

No alcohol, weapons, or glass containers is definitely a written rule. You can bring in glass baby food jars and small bottles of perfume (under 4 oz.), though. I gotta say, if you need to bring the whole bottle of perfume with you into the parks to reapply, you are probably wearing too much. The other part is unwritten, though. It's kind of funny to imagine someone going into the park with sandwich ingredients and making it there instead of just brining the pre-made sandwich. Do they really need that rule?

We got an Igloo Maxcold backpack cooler, on advice from the boards, and it's brilliant! We are here now and have used it each day.
We are staying concierge and so have waters to take into the parks, and it carries them perfectly. Got it at target for somewhere in the twenty plus range, and it's been a great purchase.

One other tip that I discovered a few years ago is that you really don't need to bring waters into the park. If you need a water, just go up to any place that serves/sells food and ask for a tap water. They will give it to you in a big cup with ice and a lid and straw. I never buy drinks in the parks at all anymore. You don't even have to be eating there to get a water--just ask for one.

They do sell really nice fruit in the park if you don't want to pack it in and carry around a cooler, too. I love the mango with lime.

Disney food blog did an article about bringing food in recently. You CAN bring food in. You can't make food in the park (like sandwiches) but anything oremade is fine. We've brought in water, sodas, snacks, fast food, sandwiches, etc.

Shannon,
Since you mentioned this, I decided to do some googling, and I found the article by the Disney food blog that you are mentioning.

Here is the information that I found that I think will help the OP:

"No box, cooler, bag, or other container larger than 24″ x 15″ x 18″ is allowed into the parks as a food receptacle, or for any other purpose. This means that you’ll have to leave that giant Coleman you use for tailgates at home. "

You can read the rest of the article here:

I think the "size matters" part of the situation is due to the fact that they want you to have the ability to store it in a locker if needed--and if it is too big to even fit in a locker, then that is probably too big of a container. I think it is a good idea to just use common sense. It would be way too cumbersome to bring a huge cooler into the parks (not only for the person using it, but for others trying to get around it and for manuevering around the parks)--but a regular sized cooler is appropriate. If you have kids, you are probably going to want to go back to your hotel room mid day anyway, so leaving some of the food there makes sense rather than trying to cart it around all day.

Hope this helps! :goodvibes

GREAT article! Very informative. Gives me a little more confidence to waltz in with some food!! :)

This 25"X15"X18" thing is kinda vague. :confused3
Would be nice for more details. We've gotta cooler that measures,,,,,
25" long,15" wide and 18" tall. Kinda silly havin the cooler layin on it's side. ;)

Sorry, I don't think it is vague at all--they are telling you exactly how big it can be before it is outrageous and therefore not allowed. If the cooler lays on it's side, then that is okay too. They just want to make sure it can be stored. A cooler stored on it's side is still a cooler, right?

Granted, we just buy food in the park, so maybe I don't know what we are talking about, but it seems pretty simple to me.

It may be related to the lockers. The Large size is 15x25x19, the largest available inside the park gates. So maybe that cooler size is the largest box that will fit in and allow the doors close.

Wow, that's a pretty big cooler. Ok, this made me break ours out, we have a Thermos "Raya" bag cooler. I love it, used it at the parks 3x now, not to big, not too small, fits under our stroller good and it has a long enough strap to go over shoulder like a purse. Bought it at Target for maybe $15. It measures 11" long, 15" high and 5" wide, I think it is the 9 pack size.
