Cast:
DW (me, mid forties, Disney planner and former WDW commando)
DH (spouse, late forties, "let's do something new every day" guy)
DS (12, Disney vet)
DD (9, trip planner in training)
DGM (my mom, seventies, loves Disney)
DGD (my dad, seventies, loves Disney if he is there with DD and DS)
Day Three:
Up by 7:00 am and off to breakfast at Captain Cook's. The plan called for a park, but we decide to go to Blizzard Beach as DGM isn't feeling well and she doesn't really care for water parks. So we leave her to rest and recuperate and the rest of are at the bus stop by 8:15 am. We arrive at Blizzard Beach and are at the front of line to get in. Grab a place in the shade and head off for Summit Plummet, DS and DGD are determined to ride it so we send them up in the chair lift, oops forgot DS hates heights. The ride up made the slide down seem tame. We watch them come down and then we all ride the raft ride twice. DH, DS, DD and DGD head off to the Slush Gusher and I watch them all (guess who hate water slides). DGD and I head off the Lazy River whilde DS and DD do the pre-teen area. DGD takes a rest while the rest of us ride the toboggan ride and the open water tube ride. We all do the Lazy River and then head back to the Poly by 1 pm. DGM is feeling better and after lunch, we head out for Epcot. Ride SE and then checked out Soarin, no fastpasses left and an 80 min. wait, so we decide to save that for another day. Rode Figment and then headed to the Rose and Crown for our dinner reservation. We check in and then the heavens open. We crowd into the Pub and there we wait and we wait and we wait, drink a bit and then wait, an hour later we are seated and then we wait 30 minutes for our food. Because of the rain, no one would leave R&C and everything got backed up. We did get 20% off the bill. After dinner, we started around World Showcase, but didn't get past Japan as Illuminations started, so we watched it and then left via the International Gateway, walked around the Beach Club a bit and then caught the bus to MK and the boat to Poly.
Day Four:
We decide to go to AK, good choice as it is overcast all morning and keeps the heat down. We arrive about 9:15 am and I get fastpasses for the Safari, we ride Dinosaur, see Lucky and the kids ride Primeval Whirl. Head back to the Safari, picking up fastpasses for KRR on the way. Saw more animals than ever on the Safari, it was great. Everyone but DH rode Kali, kids got soaked, DGM, DGD and I just got a little damp. Exhaustion set in and we headed out of the park by noon.
Back at the Poly we swim and then rent a Boston Whaler for a boat trip. Turns out the DD hates the boat and acts just like I did at that age. Very amusing for DGM and DGD, but not for DD. We cruise around Bay Lake and the Wilderness Lodge and take lots of photos of birds on Discovery Island.
Back at the Poly we head out for O'hanas and wait nearly 45 minutes to be seated, if this is the trend for AR's for the trip then we are not very happy. We decide to rest that evening and everyone falls asleep by 9:30 pm. Which is a good thing at we are off to MK for EMH in the morning
