Our first cruise, we booked a cat 9 and got upgraded to a cat 6. We found out at the port. They may have told us on line, but i don't even remember checking! Plus, we did not do any planning, excursions, nothing! Just booked excursions on the ship! Now I have OCD cruise planning! I'm already wanting to start planning our Northern Baltics trip in July 2010. We are getting cat 6 for that one. Maybe we'll get upgraded to a cat 3!:lmao:

That's a great upgrade- I would love a balcony- but haven't been able to get one yet- too much $$$$. My whole family is supposed to do an Alaskan cruise in 2011- I think we will definately get one for that trip.:thumbsup2

I read some where either on the thread or a trip report...where a guy got up at 4:30am on the day the rooms were to be assigned! I thought that was funny! :) Also reassured my obsession, that I'm not the only one :)

I got on the DCL website now!!:banana: But nothing new is there....:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Still not able to... was thinking maybe my password (I have soo many of them). Oh well, I will keep trying.

Just wondering what the odds are of someone to be upgraded from 10 to higher. Just getting a little jealous of those that get upgraded... although I honestly don't want a porthole (that is when I get seasick) I am fine looking down on the water but not "at" water level.

I think its all luck of the draw. That could be our one and only upgrade! While the veranda was nice, I don't think it is worth the extra money, but DH wants one for this next cruise. We did not spend much time out there on our last 7 day cruise. Yes, it was cool to see the port but we never got room service so we never ate out there. And we don't have young children who need to nap. And you don't have a recliner out there. It was just 2 chairs and a small table from what I recall. I would want one to go thru the Panama canal though. That would be cool! Other than that, I am perfectly fine with my cat 12 and saving the $$$ for future cruises! :goodvibes

Thanks... our first 4 night cruise we soooo under-packed. Our next cruise (7 nighter), I think we did ok but still felt like I was missing things. This cruise we will have everything & then some. I bought the largest luggage that is acceptable. I will "only" need about 5 pairs of shoes. I pretty much pack the same things every cruise (hopefully they still fit). Guess I will have to pull them out & try them on.... hmmm, may just pack my suitcase while I am at it. :rotfl2:

I'm telling you- DH will be bringing my suitcases down from my attic TONIGHT!! He said he would, so I will start gathering stuff.:banana:

Wow! If we don't get early seating, looks like we will be eating at Topsiders. 8:15... you won't get out of dinner until 10:30 or so!

Here's the thread: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2149264 BUT there are conflicting reports. One said they did ~ another said the didn't.

Did a little "private eye" research and the poster that said it was staggered was just got off the April 4th Magic and the poster that said it wasn't - did not sail. I am assuming they just "heard" it wasn't. We will know soon enough though.

Sometimes they don't stagger when the ship is not very full. They did not stagger the EB Trans Atlantic in 2007 bc the ship was empty. They even only had 2 late seating rotations vs the normal 3. We were lucky bc we had early dining but no later seating following us. It was great bc we got so much extra and had the best wait staff ever!!!

Then last summer in June the ship was packed and there were 3 seatings at both main and late seating.

I could be wrong but I doubt DCL will do away with the staggered times. It helps everyone to have it that way. It helps to break up the movement on the ship, ie everyone is not trying to use the elevators at once, etc.
