5th Park at WDW

I think they should get a bunch of helicopters with cranes and should lift DisneySea off of its location. Then land it in Walt Disney World. I soooooo wish this would be their 5th gate, but that will never happen. <sigh>

especially because Disney isn't full owner of that park anyways.

that's even better

If they do go with Mickey's South (park), the only way to reach it will be by Yensid's Express Monorail. Which will be a 15 minute ride that contains many of the lesser known Disney characters like Grandmother Willow, the actual Black Cauldron (and Gurgi), V.I.N.CENT, and Kronk.

The 5th park will be restricted to deluxe hotels and admission will be included in the room rate

Dependable source

Heard it through the grapevine.

Yea I know just a dream of mine. That park has to be the BEST theme park on Earth PEROID! I would go as far and say the park is almost perfect. There are not many theme parks like that.

Not only do I not think a 5th park will ever be built, I believe that if Disney could go back in time they wouldn't have built DAK. They've spread themselves too thin and made themselves very vulnerable to an economic downturn. WDW has done better the last few years as the economy has improved but people forget that WDW was hurt badly after 9/11. For much of the last decade Disneyland has outperformed WDW because it could rely on a steady stream of locals, whereas WDW has had to flood the market with numerous discounts.

I agree, we will continue to see Disney attempt to pack the parks like a Tokyo subway car.

I wouldn't say Disneyland outperforms Disney World. Disneyworld def does better then Disneyland does when it comes to crowds and spending. They run deals yea, but that is not because people are not wanting to come. I also do not think they would want to undo Animal Kingdom. Disney doesn't just decide one day they are going to add a new theme park. They spend time to research and see what it will do to the overall performance of the resort. When Eisner was still president he said that there were plans for a 5th gate and a few loose ideas for a 6th. If they didn't want to build them then why waste the money to make ideas for them?

When I say that Disneyland outperformed WDW I mean that during the economic down years DL had a greater percentage growth in profitability and higher return on investment. Obviously WDW will always have greater attendance, but when the economy is down WDW is affected much more than DLR.

Eisner may have had plans for more parks but that was a long time ago. There are new economic realities to deal with. What if disney builds a 5th park and we have another 9/11? There's a reason why Disney is investing mostly in DVCs nowadays. When you build theme parks it takes years for the initial investment to be made back and as a result there's a lot of uncertainty. But with DVCs it's a slam dunk for Disney because they make their money back as soon as the units are sold.

Very true and I agree that Disney World is harder effected by the economy then Disneyland. At the same time I still wouldn't put it pass Disney that they don't have a 5th gate planned somewhat. I don't even think it will be any time soon, but at the same time they wont set around waiting for the next terrorist attack or economic bust. They will find ways to bring more people in. Eventually when the parks are expanded a lot and people are crammed in them they will have to do something. The 5h park will be the way to go. Now obviously we are talking years later I mean YEARS later. It wont be happening anytime soon, but don't count it as not a possibility either.

A fifth park might happen way, way down the line, but I bet it won't come until after more investment in the other global resorts as well as in DCL. There's no sense in Disney putting all their eggs in one basket when they can invest in the other resorts and spread the risk around. Maybe when Anaheim, Shanghai, and Paris all have 3 parks it might make sense to have a 5th park in Orlando.

They will of course make sure to place new parks where new parks are needed. This is one reason why Disneyworld has not received anymore because they do not need them. Hong Kong Disneyland, Disneyland Paris and Disneyland all will get second and third gates first. Then once these places have been invested into then by that time Disneyworld will need a 5th gate.

I really don't think Disneyland is going to get a 3rd Gate. They've talked about it for years, but there really is no where to put it. Rumours have abounded about the strawberry fields they supposedly own, that they're thinking of putting in a water park, and that there's going to be a monorail form the Anahiem train station to Disneyland. I would really be surprised if something actually comes to fruition.

Paris won't see a third gate anytime soon their second WDS is one of the worst disney parks there is they need to do something with that before they think about a third. WDS wasn't even supposed to happen as soon as it did, the French government demanded disney open a second park within a certain time frame after they opened DLRP.

Oh I know WDS is the worse Disney parks hands down. I don't even have to argue about that. At the same time Disneyland Paris does have the ultimate plan to have a third gate. I don't know where the papers are but they are somewhere out there on the web. I want to think Hong Kong has the ultimate plan to have two gates and is able to buy land near them if they wanted a third. (To be honest I cant ever see Hong Kong going beyond two gates.) I am not sure about Disneyland. The main point I was making was that they plan on adding parks to other resorts before they do so for Disney World

Actually the fith park is going to be a huge gift shop that you pass through to get to the parking lot.

That was the old plan that got scrapped.

It will now be a huge gift shop, but in the middle will be a meet and greet where a character will be available for 3 hour per day. They hope this will ensure massive photopass profits. You will need to book the character meet 180 days in advance.

There will of course also be 2 starbucks locations. One will be basic CS - with no seats to sit at. They see seats as reducing capacity and are thought to not be required. The other will be a new format starbucks - this will require 2 TS credits on the dining plan, but does include seats.

Oh and apparently the new park will be called Disney Springs? ;)
