This is so scarey! A couple of weeks ago, a missing LSU student (female) was found dead. Today, the news announced that her death was caused by the serial killer....linked w/ DNA evidence. :( :( This makes a total of 5 girls confirmed...of course there may be more we just don't know about! It's so scarey! Between this and the war, I'm starting to feel guilty for bringing a child into this world. :(

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NEVER EVER EVER feel guilty for bringing a child into the world. There are SOOOOOOOOOOOO many more good things than bad. Really, there are. And you know - there have ALWAYS been things like this - we just didn't know about them because we didn't have things like CNN and DNA testing and computers. Man is SO MUCH MORE humane than EVER in history. That little baby is a BLESSING and will bring so much joy to the world. And who knows, your baby may have a profound effect on the world - think Jonas Salk, Ghandi, Abraham Lincoln.

{{{HUGS}}}} Allison.

Please don't feel guilty about bringing a baby in to the world, please. Your baby will be such a blessing.

Skuttle, I have felt the same at one time or another. But I could never wish not to have my babies. And I know the world just might be a better place because they are in it. I know they make my little part of the world better. :)

Just remember that those pregnancy hormones can make you think things are worse than they really are.

I became pregnant just days after 9/11 and the day I found out was right in the middle of the anthrax scare and just a little before we went to war in Afghanistan. I had those same feelings everyday and it just got where I could not watch the news very much because it would upset me.

Just try to focus on the positives of bringing your wonderful baby boy into the world.

Thanks. It's just all so scarey. :(

I know there is nothing in the world that will bring me more joy and happiness than when I get to hold our baby in a few months. And how can I not smile when I see little Nathan with that big grin! :) I guess I should focus on the baby and try not to think about all the bad stuff going on in the world and here in town.

It is scary that there's a serial killer roaming around in Louisiana, I really hope they find him/her soon. That must be very frightening for people living there. :( But remember that you're going to be a great mom and your little baby is counting on you to be strong. The world really will be a better place when he's born, no matter what craziness is going on everywhere else. :D

Skuttle,
Babies that are wanted and loved and cared for grow up to be loving and caring adults. We definitely need more of that in this world so don't feel guilty!

I'm sorry to read that they confirmed the latest girl was indeed a victim of this awful killer. Although not from your area, I have followed the story pretty closely since the second victim, Murray Pace, was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority, my college sorority. We were sent a lot of information at that time about her life, her promising future as well as information on the scholarship fund set up in her name-what a tragedy. I pray they find this guy SOON before anyone else is hurt.

Skuttle,

I can understand that you're scared. I know you are a law student at LSU. Take care of yourself. Be careful, as I'm sure you are.

I was a very young child during the Cuban missle crisis as well as when John Kennedy was assassinated. I'm sure my parents wondered what type of world they had brought me, my sister and brother into. I imagine parents have always wondered about that. I know I think of that often with my own three children. Instead of dwelling on that fear I do my best to bring my kids up to be the kind of people who will help the world to be a better place. Don't worry - you'll be a great mom!!

{{{HUGS}}} Allison, as others have said, don't feel guilty. Do focus on the joy your baby will bring to you and the joy he will bring to others as well :)

Hugs, Allison.

I'm another that is unfortunately following this case closely. The latest victim is Carrie Yoder, the LSU grad student. Her family lives in Tampa and are close friends with several people from my church. We'd been praying that Carrie would be found safe, but sadly are now praying for her family to find the strength to bear this horrible news!

I hope they catch this monster before he gets anyone else!

And I, too, hope your baby will bring you untold joy!

Skuttle.. I totally understand your feelings. I am so very very paranoid right now. I'm beside myself with worry all the time. I refuse to go anywhere alone anymore. I'm thinking of purchasing a stun gun and every time I enter my house, I have someone on the cell phone with me as I walk each room to make sure the SK isn't there.

Sad part is.. the lastest victim Carrie. I knew her.. Not well, but I recognized her from when I worked at LSU. She was always so sweet and nice. I can't believe this is happening to us and our community. :(

Oh Allison! I heard the news today and thought of you. Stay safe.....*HUGS*

Allison, I understand your fear of bringing a child into the world as it is, but they are our hope for the future. You will LOVE being a mom!! As far as the serial killer goes, it is very frightening. My DS and his GF head to LSU in the fall. I pray they catch this jerk soon.

A big {hug} for you, Allison. My best for all affected by this sick person who is doing this. :mad: And for your baby, the love you and Ryan will share with him is all he needs. Again, {{Hugs}}

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement...they really mean a lot. It's just so frustrating to be afraid....afraid to go anywhere at night alone (now, I'm even nervous during the day), always looking over my shoulder, afraid to open the door for anyone, afraid to come home to an empty house and having to check the closets, beds, etc. We got an alarm system last summer when all the serial killer stuff really started...usually we only set it at night and when we're away on vacation. I think we'll start setting it every time we leave the house...it'll make me feel better to come home that way I'll know that no one is inside. I try not to think about this evil person being able to cut off the alarm. THere still hasn't been any forced entry found in any of the murders...I'm not sure if that makes it worse. It's nice to know that the serial killer isn't just breaking down doors, but at the same time, it seems like he's a "normal everyday guy" if he's able to get women to open doors. *sigh* Hopefully this will all end soon and he'll get caught before another person dies. My friend Jen and I were joking at work saying they should call the CSI crew...they would have caught the serial killer already. ;) Gotta find a way to laugh sometimes ....
