5th Annual Christmas Shopping Thread

Looove Christmas shopping!:santa: Would like to get started soon, but am having a hard time trying to decide on some smaller gifts for ds(15)!:confused3 He is getting a new computer as his main gift, but would like to have some other smaller gifts for him to open! Any teen guy ideas?pixiedust:

* FOOD! My brother's fav gift from me (though he was in college at the time) was a basket of all kinds of his favorite foods. Think special treats.

* Computer game, board game. Now he has a computer, maybe a board game is a nice way to even things out a bit. My DH still has an ongoing Scrabble rivalry with his mom.

* rubber band gun -- okay, I am actually getting this for my 16 YO niece. It's a smaller one that is kind of a key-chain kind. Of course, I'm arming her parents and sister similarly so should be an interesting Christmas morning.

* movie

* iTunes GC or other GCs

* clothes -- inexpensive shirt or two, PJs or the like

* outdoor gear -- camping or sports depending on what floats his boat

As I was getting ready for work this morning I noticed my oldest DS placed a christmas list on my night stand. :rotfl2: I guess I better read it to see what he wants. He never knows what he wants so I am actually really happy to see the list. Of course I hope it doesn't just say money and giftcards and list out all of the places he wants gift cards to.

my older son is 16, will be 17 at Christmas, and the next son is 13, then dd is 9. But for the boys, I will probably still get Legos for the 13yo and who knows what at this point for the older one. He has been working and got a car this year, so we may just give him some $$ toward his note if he wants us to~ that is all he has wanted for 2 years, so that is what is making his heart sing right now! 9yo is still up in the air about what she wants,....but I need to start deciding. We are probably gonna be building a new house here in the next couple of months,so I think new bedding for her might be on the list!!

Oh, great thread. I have an 18 year old foster daughter. She is interested in photography, hair/makeup, and is an education major. We usually spend about $100-200 per child on Christmas presents. Ideas?

Food gifts are a good idea since he eats me out of house and home! :scared1:I think I will also do itunes gift cards and some new PJs! Maybe some movies on Black Friday!

I went to Kohls on Sunday and was able to buy my daughter a pj set on clearance for $8. Another item off the list! ;)

FYI - Zulily has barbie stuff on sale today. The deals are pretty good. They have some barbies as well as accessories. Check it out if you have a little girl asking for barbie stuff :)

I just found this thread today and I am subscribing. I love Christmas shopping and I am usually done by Thanksgiving, but this year I have no idea what to buy. All 3 kids just had birthdays and they don't even know what they want. I hope maybe I will find so ideas on this thread.

Well it looks like it will be Wii Games, Nerf, legos, and clothes for my boys this year. I hate to buy Nerf and legos though because they have so many already but that is all they are asking for. Although DS11 did ask for a skate board and DS13 really loves to take pictures so I was going to get him a nice camera.
My boys are usually somewhat easy.

Now DD is a different story. What do you buy for a 9 year old girl that doesn't play with toys? The child just does not play with toys. She rides her bike, jumps on her trampoline, reads books, and listens to music. I think I am going to get her either a Kindle Fire or a Nook Tablet. Then she can listen to music and read books. Do you think 9 is too young for that? Which one would be better? She actually turns 9 on Christmas Eve so not only do I have Christmas I have her Birthday. :faint: Not only do I have to think of ideas for her the rest of the family always ask me for ideas for her for Christmas and birthday and I always run out of ideas.

I know it is only Aug. but school starts next week for us then we are thrown into football, hockey, and dance. It will be November before we know it. I really want to have some ideas before Black Friday shopping :santa:

My daughter is turning 10 next month. It is true, this is a tricky age for gifts. She also loves to read and has a kindle. If you're thinking about going this route I'd go for a kindle. Here are some things my dd really likes and is asking for her birthday.
1. Lego Friends kits
2. Colored duct tape to make things (like purses)
3. Nail Polish
4. Earrings
5. Model Magic (Crayola's big kid version of play-doh)
6. She also loves the Uncle John's bathroom readers for kids. She has a lot of them and loves telling us interesting facts she reads.

I hope some of that helped. I feel your pain shopping for this age!

Thanks for the suggestions! She did mention she likes the lego and friends. She said the boys can put it together and she can play with it. :goodvibes I also like crayola clay idea as i think she would like that.

I think the Kindle is a great idea~~ and the family can give her gift cards or money for her book account!! i mentioned before that my dd is 9 and that is getting to be a hard age~especially if she already has a lot of dolls or is past that...mine just has a lot~

* photography lessons or class -- a fun one!
* Sephora or Ulta GC
* Amazon GC -- for whatever books she might like
* new lens for her camera
* good version of Photoshop
* fun nail polishes -- OPI has a Minnie Mouse set if you want a Disney bent
* pens -- I always am losing them so love getting replacements

For those with young girls, the budget board had a PSA about a deal at Target on Snow White and Cinderella My First Princess doll sets that normally go for $29.99 and now are ringing up for $8.98! Just scored a Snow White tonight and yep, true. Happy shopping!

Does anyone know if the My Disney Princess girls outfits fit AG dolls? Dd saw them last night at the Poly and wants the Belle dress for her AG girls.

The "Disney Princess and Me" dolls and outfits are for 18" dolls and THOSE fit the AG dolls. My girls have both types of dolls and outfits. The Minnie Mouse Disney World set is adorable! The "My Disney Princess" sets are for 16" dolls, though, they wouldn't fit the AG full size dolls but maybe Bitty Babies.

Check the Belle dress box, what size doll does it say it fits?

I LOVE Christmas and I am so glad I found others who love it as much as I do! :yay:

My husband was supposed to start a job here in Florida that we moved from Ohio for, but once we moved they told us they job is on hold for a few months. Total freak out and we are trying to live off of a VERY small unemployment check right now. Luckily he will leave for a job that is out of state in October. So anyways, the point of all that is that we don't have the money to start shopping quite yet, though I am working on ideas.

For my 11DD and my 9DD, they get a lot of the same things. This year I am going to get them a video camera to make their American Girl videos on. They both want McKenna AG Dolls and about a million other things from AG. Luckily I always shop the cyber Monday sale and get some great deals.

They both are asking for more Monster High dolls so that hunt will begin again.

For my 9 year old, I am thinking the Lego friends sets and maybe a really nice art set and canvases.
My 11 is usually my easy one, but this year she is getting a bit tricky. They both have dsi's and Kindles so I don't know for sure what to get her.

The big thing they are getting and I am SO excited you would think its for me, is my husband and I are going to build them a HUGE American Girl doll house. 12 feet long and 2/3 of it will be almost 4 feet tall and the last 1/3 will be about 5 1/2 feet tall! I cant wait and all I do is look up stuff to make for it. There will be 7 rooms, 4 bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and a half bathroom, half walk in closet. American Girl stuff is what they play with most of the time and if I walk into their room one more time and see it destroyed so that "the dolls can have a house" I will scream! lol I know that they will be sooo excited and when they are tired of AG, I have 2 more that can love it! :goodvibes

My 2 year is going to get Alphie and some extra cards and a Leapster and games all of which I already have, and an Our Generation doll and a bed for the doll. I am sure she will get more Barbies as that child is obssessed with Barbies.

My one year old is a big question mark. We already have tons of toys her age, my 3 year was just 1 18 months ago! lol Probably the new Princess Little People and castle and new clothes and pj's.

Sorry for the long post, I am just so excited to have someone to share my excitement with!!! :hug:
