5E or 4E?

I know the 5E’s have been recategorized as 4E staterooms, but for those who have sailed in both, which do you prefer- 4E balconies on the side of the ship or (old)5E at the back?

We have sailed in both. We decided we like the 4E’s on deck 5 better. We really wanted to love the 5E’s on the back of the ship, but don’t yet. We sailed on deck 10 in a 5E last month and it was just so loud back there. Giving a 5E one more shot next month on deck 9 before totally scratching them off our list!

Thanks. I’m trying to decide between a 5E on deck 7 and a 4E on deck 5. The 5E has a larger balcony, but it has a white wall and I think I may prefer the plexiglass of the 4E over the added size. I’ve wanted to try a 5E, but covid canceled a couple opportunities. Maybe I should take the hint 🙃.

it is loud on every floor. Lol. That is the downside. We were recently on both the Dream and the Fantasy and were on aft 5E on both. Exactly the same. Vibration sometimes is crazy loud. We were in 8188 on both ships. We still love the veranda, but it comes with a price. We had to jam a folded up piece of paper in the closet door because it rattled so loudly. We’ve been on decks, 7, 8, 9 and 10.

That is distressing that every floor is loud in the 5E’s! Guess we will go back to the 4E’s if stateroom 9172 is loud in a couple weeks!

one tip is, on your last night, take all the hangers off the pole and lay them on the closet floor. With the vibrations, the empty hangers are crazy noisy If left hanging. its part of our last night routine.

We like the family categories on the Dream class for the round tub and rainfall shower, and the spaciousness of the stateroom.

We are in 9172 on the Dream sailing 10/8. I had read great things about these rooms in other threads so I decided to give it a try. We have a day at sea and I thought sitting on the verandah watching open ocean slide by in the ship’s wake would be cool. Hope it is?! Done deal now so fingers crossed!

I've done 5E (8188) on Dream and we had vibration on the last night. It was a great cabin, I'd sail it again. We sail 5E on the Dream again on Monday! Don't have the experience to vouch, but I've heard Fantasy aft has more of a citation problem than Dream.

We had friends on the Dream who sailed aft on deck 6 and said the vibration kept them up all night. I think it is always there—some pepple are just more sensitive to it than others. I absolutely noticed the vibration in the aft dining rooms too.

It’s like the rocking motion forward—DH loved it and said he slept so well because he loved being rocked to sleep. I couldn’t sleep a wink and hated it.

Midship is my favorite because I like the peace of a still ship and no vibrations.

We'll be a few doors down from you in room 9674 on the same sailing! It's our first time with this category at the aft of the ship.

We have done 8188 for the past couple of cruises and have it again next month; its our favorite! We also kinda cruise a little differently than most people as we spend the entire day on the verandah, and do pre and post dinner drinks on the verandah too! We even (gasp!) skip Castaway Cay and just enjoy the view of it from the verandah. Crazy, I know. :)

We have noticed vibrations, but it was only on the last night that the clothes hangers rattled so much in the closet we had to take them off the clothes rack. We just chalked it up to our clothes no longer hanging on the hangers as our clothes were packed at that point.

Hope we both love our aft verandah cabins! We are ready to cruise!
