55-200mm or 75-300mm??

Well, I've had my Sony A300 for about a month now and I think I'm ready to add another lens (I have the 18-70mm kit lens).

At this point I pretty much just want a little more zoom for stuff like Little League games, zoo field trips, etc. But I can't decide between the two. Obviously, the 75-300mm will give me more range...but it seems pretty big and bulky. Would I need a tripod for it most of the time? I'm thinking maybe the 55-200mm would be better for walking around with?

I'm still pretty clueless so any input from you lens gurus would be greatly appreciated!

which 75-300 I have a minolta 75-300 and it's not all that big at all...

for outdoor sports with decent lighting a tripod shouldn't be neccessary..

I was looking at the Sony ones (SAL55200 & SAL75300)...

200-300 is a lot more reach. It definately helps fill the frame with the subject far away.

So your choice is between better shots or more comfort/convenience.
