Can't believe I need to spend 104.00 for school pictures for my 2 dd's!! I tried every which way to shuffle the packages and add-ons and that was the cheapest way to go!!!

it's insane isn't it? Austins pics were 36.00 and he's in pre school we got 1 8x10 2 5x7's and 10 Wallets.... Thank God we have a scanner and family with good printers!

I don't order them. We get better pictures at Sears etc. for less money. To my knowledge the schools do not get any benefit from you ordering pictures - it is a private, for profit, company.

I usually order the cheapest package and even though my kids are all in the same school district, they are in 3 different schools, and the cost is different at each school!! They don't all use the same photographer..I find Lifetouch to be the highest and the pictures are usually terrible!! I end up sending them back every year, I don't know why bother getting them in the fist place.

Ours aren't too bad. I pay $16.50 for one 8x10, two 5x7's and 8 wallets. The photographer usually takes at least two pictures and prints the best one. We've had good luck the past few years, they've come out really nice.

I'm with disykat. I ordered a 5x7, 2 3x5's and wallets for $16.50. I'll take him to Walmart or Sears and get lots more for a lot less money! My ds was disappointed that he "was the only one w/o a big picture". I'm assuming he meant an 8x10. :(

Another vote for Sears. You get six poses and get to choose your favs and you can print out coupons from the internet to get the pics at $4/sheet...Or you can choose a package deal and get like 100 pics for as little as $7!

Oh my! I knew kids were expensive, but that's completely rediculous. I'd also go somewhere else and get cheaper pictures. Maybe you could find out what day the pictures are supposed to come back and send your kids with wallets from the other studio that day so that they can exchange pictures with their friends.

I know....I could actually order just minimal....hook up my photo printer....scan the picture, print it out (mine prints 4X6's), take it to CVS and make my own 5X7's......for probably 7.00 for 4 (the school photographer wants 6 for 2)
BUT......I would probably never get around to it.........So, I guess I will just fork over the money to them.....

DD's have 3 sets of grandparents and 6 sets of aunts and uncles. Plus godparents too......

The 52.00 is for
2--8X10
6--5X7
24--2X3 wallets
16--1X2 (I hate this size..but it is in all packages)

So, I guess it doesn't sound "that bad"....when you look what I get....I know I could get a better deal at Sears BUT......I know I will never make it up there to do it.......I just put everything off!!!

Another vote for Sears, or JC Penney. I usually just get the class picture for $7. And I take my kids to JCPenney at the time of their birthdays. That way the picture I have is at their exact age (ie-at 8 years, not 8 1/2) My kids always seem to have a hard time smiling the right way when they pose for a picture, so atleast at JCPennys, I have 6 pictures to choose from.:D :D

We also go to JC Penny's. I can't see spending the money at school when half the time I can't even approve the pic's before I pay for them...at least at Penny's or Sears, you get to pre-view them before you pay, and its a heck of a lot cheaper.

Our PTA always made a profit on their school pictures. In a school of 600, about $2,000. Not a huge money maker but it helped...

You are right, they are expensive.

Just wait untill it's time to buy your kid's Senior Pictures. My mom spent $394.78 on mine!! This included 4 poses: 96 wallets, 8 5x7, 2 8x10, 3 11x14, folders for all the pictures, class seals, gold script on the pictures that say "Maggie 2003", natural finish on the pictures, proof set, protective finish, senior album and a wallet box. I could have got a cheaper package but my mom wanted this one, and im not going to dissagree with her!!

Both my 2 oldest play football. They each just had pics taken at school. Jr High pics were a great selection--I got the memory mate, fridge magnet, 6 wallets, trading cards, magazine cover and a couple of others for $40. On the other hand my ds in high school had a sorry selection for pics--I spent $50 and got 1 of him, 1 team pose and a few wallets.
I have no idea why the schools dont use the same photographer.
Im going to complain about the high scool one. Prices and selection sucked. If I like the reg school pics of the 2 big ones I will buy them if not I pass. I take the boys to have their pics taken together anyway.

Our pics were $57 for the complete package.

I got the lesser package,,, 1-8x10, 2-5x7, 4-3x5, 16 wallets for $40. But I gotta tell you, they're the best pictures I've ever gotten of my dd.

I used to buy an expensive package but the people who do our school pictures are the absolute WORST!!! They don't even try to make the pictures turn out nice, they are completely in it for the money.

I just order the class picture....8.50 per kid. well my kindergartener was allowed to order a package $18.50.....

Total for all for kids was $44.00 not bad....but wait my oldest DD missed picture day she was sick...I get $8.50 back...

School pictures are outrageously expensive and the picture quality is pretty poor....I refuse to purchase them any more...lucky we are able to get just the class picture....

I usually get the cheapest package which is @ 9.00 and it includes a 5x7 , two wallets and a class picture. If I want anymore pictures I just take them to one of those machines at walmart but usually I don't because I don't send any to the family. I send them Christmas ones.

I wrote out 2 checks for $50 this year. I was definitely a very unhappy camper!! :(
