Just wondering what everyone thinks about this place - thinking of going for lunch. Are the antics in there annoying? I've heard about them telling you to get your elbows off the table and finish your veggies, etc. I'm sure my 2 and 3 yr old wouldn't "get it" but moreso I don't imagine DH or I would enjoy a bossy server either. haha SO just wondering if the food quality outweighs what we'd have to endure to eat there! :rotfl2: What are your faves?

I have eaten here 3x and although the food isn't anything to brag about (meatloaf, pot roast, fried chicken) the aptmospher here is alot of fun. The waitstaff won't go too far with anyone who doesn't want to "play" so I wouldnt worry about you and husband getting told to stand in the corner (although I have seen parents in the corner there:lmao:) They won't take you out of your comfort zone unles your willing to leave it. Have fun, just dont expect gormet food:goodvibes

We actually enjoy the food there and the staff does not go overboard. We would have loved more interaction that day to be honest. I can't wait to go back!! :thumbsup2

Get the fried chicken, it's delicious; the antics aren't what they used to be so don't worry about them.

:wizard: We dinner there last summer and really didn't care for it at all...the food wasn't that great and our server was not into the "antics" at all. Without the "fun" part of the experience, it was just mediocre food....wouldn't go back.

Ahh, that's why I'm afraid to go back.:headache: It's not worth it if the server isn't really into the roll. Just meh food in an kitchy setting otherwise. The attached bar is still cool though.

We actually like the fried chicken and shakes there. We have never gone for the antics, but it is fun. Some servers are more into their roles than others. They used to have the best onion rings there, but once the dining plans and "free" dining plans became more popular they stopped serving them. It is cheaper to serve the frozen onion rings, sadly. Anyway, we still enjoy it for the most part.

I enjoy the "antics" and is one of the reasons I like going there. Try the Peanut Butter & Jelly Shake! :thumbsup2

The PB&J shake is delicious. The food is decent, and it's a fun place. We don't plan to have many TS meals at DHS, but Prime Time is one of the places we enjoy going to.

We were there is June and LOVED it! There were some antics but not over the top and the food was great! I had the pot roast and it is not something I would or have ever ordered at a resturant. The meat was very tender and yummy. I also had the PB&J shake...so good. I know there are lots who don't care fro this place but I would go again in a heartbeat.

The PB&J shake is to DIE for!

Last year DH and I went, and it was our first meal of the trip. WE must have looked exhausted and tired and probably not in the mood for the antics, because we really didnt get any antics - which was fine with us BTW.

We are again starting our trip there - one of the best meals of the trip last time and one of the FEW meals we are repeating!

I love 50s Prime Time. The food is great and the shakes are SO good! I could go just for a chocolate shake. We had zero antics at our table, and I noticed that the tables around us didn't have any either. From the back I heard the servers and wished we weren't seated up front. Next time I want to request a fun server and a table in the back room.

dh and i ate there late one nite in 2005. for the life of me i cant rememebr the food we ate, but our server scolded us for not eatign our veggies and did the plane and train for dh and i. the only part i didnt like about it was the fact that i can't eat veggies without them bothering me(ulcerative colitis) as soon as he left i spit them out into a napkin and all was good again! love watchign the old tv clips!

We ate there for the first time 2 weeks ago. I was a little worried that over*the*top antics would scare out kids(5 & 7). But it was a wonderful dining experience. Our server was fabulous..just enough funny for the kids to get a kick out of it, but not over the top to scare them or make them uncomfortable. The atmosphere is wonderful! DH had a chicken sandwich that he loved, DS5 had the hot dog and of course he ate it. DD7 had the chicken nuggets and they were the best she had eaten all week. I had the meatloaf. The mashed potatoes and green beans were excellent, the meatloaf was very good..next time I will try the fried chicken though. We had the smores and apple cobbler for dessert. The smores were just ok..not as great as we expected..the apple cobbler was fantastic!
We really enjoyed our lunch here and are going back in Dec.

I enjoyed the pot roast I had there 2 weeks ago--- but our server was not into it--- very bland, hard to find, ect. I ended up watching other families have fun with their waiter. Also, it appeared that if you were a table of 2, you didn't get to sit at a table with a TV.... not sure if I could have requested one or not- it was after the fact I notcied this,
but my meal was very good, just service lacked.

We've had some really great servers there. They do the stuff about eating the veggies in fun...it's not said in a mean way, so I don't think it would scare any children. The decor is campy. I love it. We've always enjoyed the food. If you ask when you check in, you can usually get a very outgoing server or a quiet server, depending on what you ask for. When we went a few years ago with a fairly large group, I made sure to get seated in a rowdy section. Made the mistake of hitting the restroom while the rest of the group was sitting. I came back to the table...it was a different family there! My cousin came out and got me and said "oh, I asked for a quiet room so we could talk better". I was so disappointed but I didn't want to hurt her feelings. The "quiet room" must have been code for "no antics" because we didn't get any.

I have been there a total of three times and I thought it was great, because the food tasted amazing and it's always a great atmopshere with their servers and etc.

I love it there. We have had some really fun servers. They make you set the table etc. I think the food is pretty good. The milkshakes are out standing. I made a mess pouring the shake into the glass--the server came by and scolded me, very funny. They also have some different desserts. I would go back.

We just ate there last month, first time back in many years and we loved it! the food has always been very good but this time the fun and games was in high gear and we had a blast!

Oh no, I've always loved the onion rings. I can't believe they changed them:confused: Are they like the big frozen kind instead of the thin homemade ones they used to have?

I've always loves 50's PTC and would recommend it if you're doing a sitdown in DHS. The food has always been geat and the atmosphere is unique. You can definitely request to have a more subdued server if you want one. We've never really had any that went over the top, although one did the vegetable train before, but it was hilarious.
