Which one of these rooms are going to let you see the Islands as you pull up to them, 5020 or 5520? I thought from looking at the map of the ship in the passporter that it would be 5520 because it looks like that is the side the main gangway is on. I talked to Dana at micdan.com today and she said 5020 was ortside. Im confused please help. Also I am very sorry for my lack of knowledge about the ship :o Oh by the way Dana was as sweet as everyone said she was and she is going to save me $124. That will pay for most of my room at the Hyatt.:Pinkbounc

I don't know about other ports, but at Castaway Cay 5520 will have the better view as the ship backs in there.

By portside she means the left side (port) of the ship, not the side that will face the ports of call. In our experience the starboard side has been the one to face Castaway Cay when docked, although it is totally up to the captain. If he pulls in head first then the port side will face the island. If he backs in then the starboard side will face the island.

You don't say which cruise you will be on. We were on the port side when we visited Nassau on a 4-day cruise and our cabin faced away from the island. We were starboard side on our 7-day Western and our cabin faced Key West. We tendered in Grand Cayman and the ship faced in various directions throughout the day as we were anchored in the harbor. In Cozumel we faced away from the island.

Hope that helps.

michelemouse, thank you very much for your patient explaination. We will be on the 7 day eastern. So let me see if I have this right, 5020 means we will see St. Maarten and St. Thomas but, probably not CC?

We've only done the 7-day Western so I don't know about St. Thomas or St. Maarten. Castaway Cay will be a toss-up as it is up to the captain which way the ship pulls in. We've been on 3 cruises and we have pulled straight in once (port side has better view) and backed in twice (starboard side has the better view).

Crap shoot

U do not want to be in your room when u r docking anyways
U want to be up on deck I would not worry about the location..

one less thing to think about.....

I'll second the above post about being up on deck. We prefer deck 10 forward. We usually stand in front of the wind screen and will wander over to where we can watch the captian and other officers are working to dock the ship (they are on deck 9).

We had 5020 on our Western cruise and 5520 definitely had the better view at all stops. Not to say I wouldn't book 5020 if that was all that was available, we absolutely loved this room and it's location
