I just got an email from DVC offering me a $500 eGift Card. I have to call them and arrange something-or-other. Anyone know what this something-or-other is? I mean, for $500, I might finally attend a DVC sales pitch I've been avoiding for years.

But if it'd take up several hours, that's a hard pass.

If anyone knows about this, info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a trip coming up in May, which I think is the reason I got this offer.

ETA: Somehow I suspect the $500 eGift Card is applicable only to a DVC purchase.

Yes, you’re right. You must have to buy in to get that gift card. In the past, the perks were snacks, the pitch, $100 gift card and three anytime fast passes for everyone in your party, then ice cream sundaes. It was worth it because they used to pick you up from a park and drive you right to your resort room afterward. Pitch was supposed to be 90 minutes but for me just 30 minutes.

I clicked on "learn more" and there was a webpage where you're supposed to click on theoretical vacation scenarios and then they tell you how many points you'd need. Also it says "Special Offer: Save $4,400 or More on Membership. Limited-time offer! Act by March 30, 2022. Terms apply." I clicked on that--it's for buying points at Aulani.

There's another unspecified offer to save on Riviera.

And there's a note about adding on points, so some of this stuff is available for existing owners, I believe.

“If you become members BEFORE your upcoming trip”. I’m assuming you have a cash or points rental reservation coming up? I kind of like the previous fast pass and ice cream sundae scenario....

Duh . . . Thank you for seeing this! I skimmed the email. Yes, I have a cash reservation coming up--not at a DVC resort, btw.

Has this always been the case for those with cash reservations? I don’t think I’ve stayed on cash in a couple of decades. Do they really think someone will make such a huge purchase to get a $500 gift card? I guess they are trying all kinds of sales/marketing gimmicks.

They have offered special incentives to entice buyers so I don’t think this is anything new in that regards, Disney has used these email marketing campaigns for years in all aspects of their products.

And, they know there could be people out there who are thinking about it and will use this to make a decision.

Just a way to reach a larger audience.

True. It could push someone that was trying to justify a purchase. But it could also help someone make a poor financial decision that they regret in a few months. But......let the buyer beware.

DVC sends me things all the time. Probably because I'm an out-of-state AP (who fortunately decided to renew or right now I'd have no AP). This is the first time they've offered me money, although with the direct prices what they are, $500 isn't that huge an incentive. If they could offer me a time machine, I'd go back to 1994 (or is it '95?) and buy then!
