Someone posted this about a month ago. I called tonight to apply and confimed that if approved upon my first purchase that I would receive 50 Disney Dollars.

The thanks should go to the original poster. I just cut and pasted the message and e mailed it to a friend. When I finally got around to opening up my account I just had the original info and not the original "posters" name. Maybe she'll post on here and tell us who she is. I don't know how long the Disney card takes to arrive. I just applied the other day.

Even worse, I signed up and got NOTHING, not a pin, not a dime. My card says charter member and that's it.

Us too. Actually, my dh has the card, (charter member...) and I'm a user on it. I must get 2 offers a week from them to open a card in my name. I'm tempted to do it, just for the perks. But I'm self employed, so sometimes it's hard to get approved on my own.

I just thought of something for those of you who don't mind having 2 accounts. You and your DH's can each open your own cards with the other person as an authorized user. That way for those of you Charter members you can get the 50 Disney reward dollars now and for those of you like me who don't have a card...you can get two sets of 50 Disney reward dollars. In my experience the offer goes with the toll free number you dial. That's how the operator knows which deal to offer you. I know thre's a 25 reward dollars offer out now too.

lkohawaii, That's exactly what we just did. I already had a Disney Card in my name, so when this $50 offer came out my DH applied for a card in his name. Works for us! Love using my Disney awards when we're at WDW.

I applied for my own with the $50.00 offer. I was just the additonal card on DH's account, but felt like I had to play games to get the better offers. I applied, got the card within 7 days and charged the groceries for that week on it. If they make a double or triple offer I will use my account for those months since that offer for extra only went out to card holders who were not already charging everything. I really hate having two accounts, but the $50.00 sure beat the pin DH got and insures that DD's PAP will be payed for in full by reward dollars. Seems so silly to have to play games--when Discover put out the offer for 10% back on groceries they gave all card holders that opportunity to earn them.

Does anyone have more info on the $50 from visa. I just called
and they told me it was only good for booking a trip with disney.
I couldn't use the $50 where ever I wanted only for a trip.

Oh, please! Whoever told you that didn't have a clue what they were talking about. The $50 can be used just like any other rewards.

Call 1-888-215-3051 and use code 6Y7911. That's the number I called. I didn't even have to give the code. The guy started asking me for my info. I told him I wanted to verify that I would receive my 50 disney reward dollars upon use of the card or I didn't want to apply. He said yes I was correct and I applied. I haven't received my card yet so that's as far as I got.

Hi,

Just called 1-888-338-2586 and was told I've been approved. I should receive my card in 7-10 days. I have read that they will give you your # over the phone so you can begin online purchases but my account isn't set up yet. They can see that I'm approved but I have to call back for the number tomorrow. I posted the phone # in case anybody else is interested in finding out their status.

PS. I applied by phone on 6/14 and was told it would take approx. 30 days but it only took 2!!!

but after giving all my information over the phone, yada yada yada... he said he had to legally read me ALL the fine print in the contract!! (This even included a clause about sharing my personal info with everyone under the sun, unless I called a 1 800 number!) I interrupted him to say, there was no way I could possibly remember everything he was reading to me... he responded that I would receive a copy of everything he was saying... So why the long speech? After another 20 minutes of him reading clause after mindless clause... I started laughing and said "I'm sorry... but this is just not worth it to me! I've changed my mind!"

Did anyone else have to sit through about 30 minutes of conversation like this??

Not 30 minutes but it was lengthy. In fact, our phone cut out during it and when the cc rep called me back he started from the beginning and read it all over again! But where else am I going to "earn" $50 for 30 minutes of my time? Too good a deal to pass up.

My DH, MIL and FIL all applied for the cards when we got the notice in the mail. They all chuckled about listening to the disclaimer. But hey, there's another $150 between those three cards for us to use in August!
