I love tihe Welcome video and the Goodbye video from ME. However, I have taken five trips to WDW in the past year and only had these videos once! Why don't they play them every time? The random Disney movie video is fine, but it isn't as magical as the Magical Express videos.

Technically, they MUST be playing the DME promo video. However, the video is only available on DVDs, and only the DME branded coaches have DVD players. The Disney wrapped coaches and DCL coaches only have VHS players.

In that case, they are not allowed to play movies, for copyright reasons.

However, many drivers skip the promo video and play movies (despite not being allowed) for entertainment & tip reasons. The promo video is only 20-25 mins long, and leaves many parts of the ride empty. This makes guests feel like they're on the bus longer, thus reducing the chances of a tip. The drivers think that having a movie increases the chances of a tip, because the guest is happier, and doesn't realize how long they were on the coach

I'm surprised that Disney doesn't "shop" the DME rides for quality control purposes. Some drivers ignore the welcome and farewell DVDs because they can get away with it. If Mears were fined for not showing the video, Mears would expect their drivers to do what they're supposed to do.

I've seen the DVD once in each direction. It's well done. The welcome video shows new attractions and provides "how to" information that should be especially valuable to guests who haven't been to WDW in a long time. The farewell video encourages guests to return to WDW. Okay, it's a sales pitch, but it's fun. The video has Disney characters and humor to keep kids entertained.

I'd rather see the DME video than the first 30 minutes of Brother Bear.

My experience in Jan 06 was alittle different. From MCO to ASMO we had the Disney video and it really got the kids excited about some of the rides they had never been on before. We got to watch it 2 times because we were the 5th stop and the driver got lost after dropping off people at the AKL. All and all we were still at the resort fairly quickly and we will use the ME service in Oct and Nov.
Now on the way back to MCO after we picked up guests at the last stop I was expecting to see a Disney video of sorts, but was shocked to see what the driver played. He played some sort of universal movie, "the land before time", i believe. The movie wasn't the worst part, most of the previews were a 5min ad for universal studios orlando and their resorts. It was just alittle shocking to see an ad for universal on a "disney bus". I was already planning my return to WDW in my head at the time but was thinking after seeing the video that people who didn't go to universal might consider it and/or their resorts. Disney should be monitering what drivers are playing or giving all drivers disney promotional videos.
