This sounds silly I'm sure but I'm a little disappointed. I woke up early to make all my dining reservations for our 10 day vacation. Then I find out that there is a good chance my kids are starting back to school a week earlier, and well, I just went to go move all our dining reservations and the original times we wanted 6-6:30 pm are all gone. My plan was to do the parks, take a pool break when it gets really hot. Then shower and head to dinner and then back to the parks after. And while most of our dinners are available around 5 pm, it still seems early to me. Its not that bad right? I will survive having one less hour at the pool, right?!

It sounds so silly. I know.

We do 5pm dinners often - it is not bad. We just leave the park earlier especially in the summer. Enjoy!

We always try to do our dinners between 5-6pm. It's nice and quiet and gives us the chance to go back to the parks afterwards if we want.

And since your dinners are earlier than originally planned, you can have extra park time in the evening when it is a little cooler so you can head back to your pool a little earlier in the heat of the day.

Now my husband might not be able to take the new dates off work so we might have to cancel altogether. I'm worried sick :( This stinks!

Not silly at all. Way too early for us. With transportation times I don't know if you will have much pool time at all. Plus 5 PM just isn't dinner time. I wouldn't do it

We've gone that week several times. Honestly, you can probably get by without any ADR's. We did.

We do our dinners timed with home.

So if 6-6:30 is when you are used to having dinner, it will seem early.

My suggestion? Book the 5's and then the day before each ADR, check for 6pm times that possibly came available due to cancellations.

Sorry to read about your update that you may not be able to go at all. I hope it all works out so that you can.

Well, since 5:30 is our normal dinner time at home, I'm going to say you'll be fine.

I hope the time off works out for your husband!

We have our own car so I'm not that worried about transportation issues. But going to keep playing with the times for the ADRs. Its such a thin line because if we do 7 pm dinners, then I'm not sure we will be done in time for Fantasmic!, Illuminions or MSEP and those are must dos for us. Ideally, I prefer 9-1 at the parks, lunch and swimming from 2-5 and then shower and back to the parks from 6-close. Since we go every year, our park time has gone from all day to major swim days :)

It doesn't sound silly. Plans and routines are important. You can also look at the positive of the extra evening park time.
School here have always started after Labor Day, but some are announcing earlier start dates for next year because of the later Labor Day. I hope the vacation time works out for you!

Ok I think I got most of my reservations at better times for us. My only problem is Ohana. They have a 5:05 or an 8:00. 8:00 is late because its our last day and normally we enjoy going on attractions while everyone else is lined up for MSEP that last day. 5:05 seems early. But we are thinking of hanging at the pool in the morning, then heading to the park at 11:00 for BOG lunch and then hanging at the park until dinner time. I don't know what to do!

Even though we eat around 6:30 when we're at home, when I plan dinners at Disney, I always book them at 5:00. I do this because we can get seated close to our ADR time and not have to wait because some restaurants do get behind.

I would book the 5:05 Ohana because that is one of the restaurants that can tend to run behind and since it opens at 5 for dinner you should be seated by 5:15 or so.

This is the exact formula our family likes to follow. I'm a little worried our MK day in April is all fast passes from10-12 then dinner at BOG the only aDr I could get was 4:25. That's usually when we are resting at the resort. im figuring we will have to stay lol the way til, dinner and head back to theresort after dinner, and try to make it back for wishes at 10...I can't go all day with two kids under 5. I feel yoU stress,...what to do...?

I used to think 5:30 dinners at WDW were crazy but with all that walking you'll be hungry by the time you're sat at your table. There is a big advantage to that time in that none of the restaurants are are running behind that early.

We do dinner between 5:00-6:30p when we're in Disney. It works out nice for us because we're able to enjoy the rest of the evening in the parks or head back to our resort early if we so desire.

we always do 5 pm dinners...first it was because the kids were young and always ate at a certain time at home..so kept to that schedule..then because I need to eat at certain times during the day...five pm or five thirty worked for us...we were able to swim in the pm and then shower and catch a bus and go where we needed to go..

I went for a 5 PM ADR at 'Ohana on purpose. I wanted to avoid the huge rush plus have plenty of time to go back to MK. It is early but we'll just have an earlier lunch.

Given your username, we likely have a few things in common. We try hard to keep things like meal times as close to routine as possible. We have the same issue that the evening meals are harder to book. This trip we book CL- so will have very light breakfasts, then we are scheduling out main meal most days at lunch, then planning a lighter dinner later, then a late night snack or dessert in case anyone is still hungry...We found it much easier to get ADRs for TS at lunch than prime dinner hours
