Quick question on a family of 5. What are the choices short of 2 rooms? It's two adults and children ranging in ages 10 to 17.

All 5 of you can stay at Port Orleans Riverside. They have rooms for 4 adults and one child (under 12). There are 2 doubles and a pull out Trundle. You just have to make sure that you request the rooms with the trundles.

Have a great time. princess:

Any of the deluxe resorts will hold five. POR will hold five in a trundle bed room - two double beds and a trundel. Deluxes have two queens and day bed. Some of the deluxes only hold 4, but each deluxe resort should have rooms that hold 5.

The FW Cabins hold 6.

DVC two bedroom villas hold up to 8, plus one under the age of three.

The Doubletree Guest Suites on Hotel Plaza Blvd (not on the Disney property, but near DTD), can sleep 6.

Just a quick addition - The Doubletree IS on Disney property. They provide transportation to and from the parks. It is not Disney transportation, but it's transportation every 20 minutes to and from each of the parks.

FW Cabins are usually pretty reasonably priced (as far as Disney resorts go), and they have a full kitchen! :)

But it does not get the Disney resort perks, like free parking, EMH, etc. Do they consider it a Good Neighbor hotel? Or just a DTD hotel?

Correct me if I'm wrong, the "lite" deluxes such as WL and AKL do not have the daybed for the fifth person, at least our WL rooms haven't.

I think we're confusing "on-property" with "Disney owned and operated". While it is NOT Disney owned and operated, it is on Disney property. Package shipping is available, but that's the only perk.

It's considered one of the Downtown Disney resorts.

The deluxe rooms at AKL sleep five. The junior suites or whatever the current terminology is at WL sleep 6. Both come at a healthy premium compared to a regular room at those resorts. Typical rooms at those resorts only sleep 4.

Not sure when you're planning on going, but have you considered renting points from a DVC member (you can do that through the DIS boards) for a 1br or 2br villa? At approximately $10/per point it's probably MUCH cheaper than you might realize to go this route and DEFINITELY cheaper than two hotel rooms.

Moderate:
POR- AB Section
Coronado Springs-Junior Suite

Fort Wildnerness Cabins

Deluxe:

Contemporary
Polynesian
Grand Floridian
Beach Club
Yacht Club
Boardwalk
Animal Kingdom-Deluxe Savannah View
Wildnerness Lodge-Junior Suite

We usually stay at a deluxe with our family of 5, but our 2nd choice is the swan. We get a govt. disc, do you qualify for any of the discounts they offer. Its much more resonably priced than a rack rate deluxe and you get 2 heavenly queen beds, and you just pay the extra rollaway charge or you can bring your own aero bed. The transportation is great. The swan is the lst bus pick up, you get all the emh time, the grotto pool is our teen ds favorite, they have beach volleyball, basketball etc. A great value for the money. The only drawbacks we found were the refillable mug hassle, which we just do a soda stop with the limo guy with and giving our teens money for lunch etc. if they are not eating with us because you cant charge back to the room on the card. We have the cc for dh and I. If I dont get a good deluxe rate, we always book the swan. Good luck finding the perfect resort for your family.
