5 Girls and a Boys Not So Scary Halloween PTR ~ 10/10 TR link

A few things to update today :teeth: We've had two more movie nights.......

Alex was having dinner at a friends place, so it was just Ariana, Demetri and I last week for our movie night. I kept it low key and had a 'normal' dinner with a few touches here and there themed to our movie choice....

Rose had just picked some berries so we added them to the table, and we also had some berry iced red velvet cupcakes that were absolutely delicious!

2011_07170007.jpg

We had a single pink and single blue rose as our centerpiece, and I added an Aurora cake topper.

2011_07170003.jpg

Our setting was Sleeping Beauty's Castle and our theme was a royal feast. We had castle banners throughout the dining room and a few of Malificent's evilness thrown in with some of Prince Philip's shields for protection. ;)

Since this was a sleeping party, guests were to arrive in their finest jammies and bring their pillows and blankets too.

After dinner the kids did some puzzle mazes and we had some impromptu dancing....

Time for the movie and the kids snuggled in for the sleeping part of the party....

I absolutely love this movie for a lot of reasons, namely --- Malificent! She is just the most wicked, evil, mean and just plain nastly of all the villians and my favorite! The three good fairies are fun and I love the ongoing feud of blue and pink :rotfl:

Time to take another segment of links down....

Another week closer!

Our second movie night had the added bonus of George being home... we were both on vacation this week. Alex was away at a friend's cottage so it was the four of us gathering together at "Be Our Guest" restaurant!

2011_07220009.jpg

Being home gave me the luxury of time, so without use of my work printer for our normal character gallery or decorations, I drew our posters a few days ahead of time. The kids and I also did a craft the day before so it would be ready for our dinner.

2011_07170030.jpg

I'd seen on the movie night thread a Lumiere craft. It didn't have any instructions or a link to any, so I drew it out myself to copy.

2011_07220005.jpg

Supplies gathered, we painted individual egg cartons yellow and left them to dry.

2011_07220003.jpg

2011_07220004.jpg

Then with yellow construction paper, paper towel and bathroom tissue rolls and white pipe cleaners, we taped together our Lumiere's!

Demetri's....

Ariana's....

2011_07220008.jpg

On the day of, our dining room became the setting for our theme.

2011_07220009.jpg

Our Sleeping Beauty pink rose stood in for the red one under the Beast's dome in the West Wing....

2011_07220014.jpg

2011_07220019.jpg

.... and the kids' Lumieres completed the table setting with chunky candle holders and a tea set.

2011_07220015.jpg

Dinner was Beastly Burgers, Belle's Shells, Cogsworth's Coleslaw with Gaston's Punch (get it? ..lol!) We also had Mrs. Potts' Parfaits for dessert.

2011_07220022.jpg

The parfaits were just favorites.. chocolate pudding, whipped cream and smarties for George, Ariana and Demetri with rolo's on mine. :thumbsup2

Straight to the movie ....

2011_07220026.jpg

2011_07220027.jpg

... this was the Special Edition one so it had the added "Human Again" part I hadn't seen before. George didn't like it and said the movie was better without it... but I liked it. ::yes:: It was weird for me to see a new part to a movie I'd seen so many times, but I enjoyed the new laughs to my old favorite. :goodvibes

Demetri was thoroughly scowling at Gaston and declared the movie his third favorite.

George once again had the honors of taking down a segment of links.....

2011_07220028.jpg

.... and we had one more treat after the movie. Chocolate eclairs of course! ;)

I've been trying to play up the bravery of the Princes in each of these movies for Demetri so he's not overloaded on pink and flowers. ;) I also told him about Malificent and how she can turn herself into a fire breathing dragon and he thought that was waaaaay cool. :thumbsup2

Two bananas for two months!!:banana: Time is flying by!!

I love your latest movie nights. :thumbsup2

Time really is flying by! I'm starting to get that teeny panic every once in a while that I still have so many things to do :scared:

I am FINALLY caught up!! Phew. Thank goodness for chapter links! :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

I have to remember no more DIS hiatuses because it takes too long to catch up on all of the reports I want to read.

Anyhoo, I'm here now. :thumbsup2 I am super jealous of your move nights, I really want to do them for Marc & I but I think he would think I am crazy if I dug out crafts and themed menus once a week just for the two of us. :lmao:

Love the movie nights!! :thumbsup2 Lol, even your low key themed nights are great and not soo low key for me!

I love that you made Lumiere crafts whilst watching Beauty and the Beast.

:woohoo: on it being less then two months! :cool1:

Hi LL! :welcome: You could do just cute little touches or centrepieces for movie nights ... red checkered tablecloth for Lady and the Tramp, shell pasta for Little Mermaid, rose under a vase for Beauty and the Beast....

My kids love the full out ones we've been doing, but our next trip I think will be about having one special element like a fancy dessert or a certain entree choice, etc along with the movie. :thumbsup2

OMG Tracy!!!! I love love love your movie nights!!! I agree with everyone else when they say you are definitely the "cool" mom!!! :goodvibes

Soon you will be leaving for Disney!!!! Can you believe the time has gone by so fast??? :dance3: For me, I'm on day 41!!! Unreal!!!

More fantastic movie nights!! You guys have inspiried me a bit in doing movie nights, but so far the food is not themed, and coloring sheets are the only "craft" Oh! I forgot, that when we watched Alice in Wonderland we "hid" the Cheshire Cat and that became a game. Henry was thrilled - and is just as happy even just with the coloring sheets! :rotfl:

Which pearl cage did you choose? I didn't realize there were other choices from that same seller...I might have to take a look myself!

Aww thanks for that, it's so nice to have that dedicated time once a week to spend together. :goodvibes Honestly the time has definately flown by... it wasn't that long ago that I was dancing around my house and texting Natalie that I got the go ahead to go with her!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Yay for your movie nights!! I'll remember the Cheshire Cat game if we do Alice ;) I've spoiled Ariana... the moment we finish dinner she's asking me, "Activities??" :hyper: :rotfl:

Pearl cage choice coming right up.......

Hey everyone! How are y'all doing? Long weekend for us with the August 1st holiday.... yippee!! Lots to report here ..... :thumbsup2

Paid off the trip!

I called Disney to make a payment and decided to go ahead and pay off the whole thing. My 45 day mark was coming up soon anyway, so there will be a little break between paying things off now and paying for what I buy on the trip. :rolleyes1 Fuzzy Disney math and logic. :teacher: The one thing I forgot to do was give them my flight info for the Magical Express. I have to call back soon -- I want my Mickey Mail!!

Second set of MNSSHP tickets bought!

Woo hoo! Two parties and I am so excited! Hopefully weather is not a factor in either party and we can just concentrate on two wonderful nights of fun!

Mouseketeer Costumes Bought!

Natalie and I went shopping earlier this week for our costumes. We had a plan in mind, and with our kiddies at home ;) headed out to a few different stores to get all that we needed.

2011_07310023.jpg

White shirt, black capris and the letters for our DIS names. We even found letters with skulls on them for that extra Halloween touch....

2011_07310024.jpg

Once we have them together we'll post the finished product. We also have black shorts (or in Natalie's case a cute skort that I couldn't find for myself :guilty:) that we'll choose from when it's time for the parties.

I think I'd also like to add a little touch to the back of the shirts -- what do you all think?

There's this one:

mickey-mouse-club-logo.jpg

... or this one:

HMMMClubLogo.jpg

Or just leave it with only our names on the front? Let me know what you think.

Countdown Calendar

Natalie made a great countdown calendar for her girls and sent me the months if I wanted to do one for my kiddos. I hadn't planned on it but when I saw what she'd made, I had to do it. She offered to make me Mickey heads and the deal was sealed. :rotfl: A trip to the dollar store and Michaels for some super cute stickers....

2011_07220049.jpg

Ariana's favorite of the Haunted Mansion, Demetri's for Cars and Test Track....

2011_07220053.jpg

A reference to Ariana's birthday and the Princesses we will meet....

2011_07220055.jpg

The Mickey heads added which the kids take turns adding each night....

2011_07220065.jpg

My favorite is Mickey and Minnie watching the fireworks together with their tails entwined. :lovestruc

Pearl Cage Bought!

I bought the pearl cages the week I was on vacation and they've already arrived. Thank you so much for everyone's input, I don't know that I would have chosen this on my own but I think they're so pretty!

2011_07310020.jpg

The oblong!

2011_07310022.jpg

I think I want to get a very long chain for this so it hangs a bit lower than a traditional necklace. I can't wait to see it with the pearl!

DISmeet set up!

Stefy and I finally got our schedules together and we've arranged a meet! I'm so excited to have that planned... it will be wonderful to meet her in person! Back to our first MK day, she has a special day planned and will be arriving at MK in the early afternoon and we'll have a bit of time before she's off to Epcot. Yay!

Ariana's birthday present bought!

With the help of awesome Heidi (MRYPNNS) I've bought Ariana's birthday present to give to her while we're in Disney. If you remember, we'd gone to see the Lion King Broadway show and she'd had her heart set on a particular item they had. I misunderstood her choice and got her something else and she's been asking for it....

playbill_2158_6994112.gif

The Simba mask. It's beautiful and I can't wait to give it to her. To go along with it, I also ordered the Scar mask....

scarmask.jpg

Aren't they incredible? She will love them!

So there you have it, all the things we've been up to lately. A few little things to do - I have to make Ariana a shirt to wear on her actual birthday namely, but the big purchases are done for me. :woohoo: I'll be back soon with last week's movie night and an updated to-do list and we'll both have Day 6 plans to share! Stay tuned!

I love the update-a-palooza!! :lmao:

The countdown calendar is fantastic!! Great creativity!!

I love your costumes and I really like the first graphic, it's very cute.

Also, the pearl cage is beautiful. I really like it!!

I'm so excited for you trip. I also can't wait for your movie night update, I have convinced Marc to do a few of them with me. He even dug out our Disney cookbooks to see if any of those recipes will work with the movies we have picked. :thumbsup2
