5 Girls and a Boys Not So Scary Halloween PTR ~ 10/10 TR link

Two movie nights to share! :happytv:

First was our Lilo and Stitch night. We were flying high on a Hawaiian Roller Coaster ride to one of my favorite theming nights. :goodvibes This night was more about the atmosphere then the menu or activities. We had a few last minute changes, but all in all, it was a great night!

Our set up....

2011_06280008.jpg

We kept our fishies up for one more week since the kids really liked them and it fit with the theming....

'Ohana juice of course...

Our character gallery, complete with hula skirt on the fireplace....

Dinner was originally meant to be steak and chicken kabobs with vegetables and fruit ones too, but I ended up having to work late that night so pressed for time, I compromised and picked up a hawaiian pizza ;) on the way home.

2011_06280001.jpg

Since we were running a bit late into the evening and still had the movie to watch, our activity was limited to an impromptu fun little craft. We coloured pieces of paper different shades of green, traced and cut out our hands, and made our own "palm" tree. Get it? ;)

Time for the movie!

2011_06280018.jpg

2011_06280019.jpg

I seem to say this about most movies we've been watching, but we LOVE Lilo and Stitch! I have a wonderful memory of our family going to the theatre to watch this movie and Ariana bouncing up and down in her chair to Hawaiian Roller Coaster ride. :lovestruc She would absolutely giggle everytime Lilo was on the screen and enjoyed herself so much, she couldn't stay awake and fell asleep for the end of the movie!

Stitch is a family favorite, especially when he's being naughty, and some of our best trip memories are at 'Ohana breakfast with Lilo and Stitch. It's a must do every trip!

Demetri was just laughing away throughout the movie and declared everything as his favorite part. :rotfl:

Time to take another segment of links down.....

Another week closer!

Last week's movie night had the added bonus of George being home on vacation! :cool1: He got to participate in and help out a bit with.....

2011_07050035.jpg

The kids went swimming under George's supervision while I got the room setup. Straight from the water to the table changed into their jammies, our theme was Arabian nights!

2011_07050010.jpg

2011_07050006.jpg

With the lights off and the tea lights on....

2011_07050011.jpg

Dinner was kabobs that George had prepared just before I got home and different dips - two different types of hummus and raita with Naan bread and flatbread. We also had fig bars and some fruit gummy flowers spread out through the centre of the table. Our centre piece mats would come into play later for our activity.

We had a bowl overflowing of treasures including choc coins, fancy rings and jeweled necklaces. We also had a candle in a bottle that later in the meal we switched out for the different characters.

Genie....

2011_07050014.jpg

then of course Jafar....

2011_07050016.jpg

Once dinner was over, we cleared most things away and our centre mats became make-your-own magic carpets to decorate with all the supplies we'd used on earlier movie nights. We had pom poms, flowers and stars and Demetri even used one of the necklaces. With some glitter glue added to the mix, they had a jolly old time making any design (or not!) they wanted. The carpets themselves were just craft paper with the ends ripped into fringes.

Ariana's finished carpet....

2011_07050029.jpg

.... and Demetri's. He even used the foils from the choc covered coins!

2011_07050030.jpg

Shifting the party to the living room to watch the movie....

2011_07050032.jpg

2011_07050033.jpg

It was time for the movie!

2011_07050036.jpg

Yup, we love this movie too. :rotfl: I adore the Genie and Demetri was cracking up anytime Abu "said" anything. Ariana's favorite scene is right after Aladdin (as Prince Ali) has dropped Jasmine off from their carpet ride to a "Whole New World" and she's humming and swaying while brushing her hair. She tells her father that she's just had the most wonderful time and she's so happy. :cloud9: She loves to reenact that small little scene.

It's a movie George hadn't seen for awhile and he was guffawing at the one liners throughout. He also had the honors of taking down our segment of links this week!

Another week closer!!

Lastly today, I'd like to get some input from you guys about something I want to buy from eBay for our Epcot day.

On our last trip, Ariana and I finally did pick-a-pearl in the Japan pavillion. With a recommendation from another DISer, I'd bought from eBay these carriage pearl cages.

carriage350.jpg

We had so much fun picking our pearls and watching the whole process, and I want to do it again on this trip.

Ariana's pearl in her carriage....

232323232%7Ffp733%3C3%3Enu%3D798%3B%3E88%3A%3E257%3EWSNRCG%3D335955%3B575348nu0mrj

.... and mine.

232323232%7Ffp73395%3Enu%3D798%3B%3E88%3A%3E257%3EWSNRCG%3D335955%3C446348nu0mrj

We get so many compliments on our pearl carriages. It's my favorite jewelry to wear and my optician called it "wonderfully whimsicle".

So, I want to do it again this trip, and I want to choose new cages. Here's where I need your help with a poll. The cages I've shown here are all ones I'm interested in getting. They're all in the same price range and I think from the same seller that I got the carriage ones from.

Which one do you like?

Round - This has some pretty details on it and is a very simple shape. It almost looks like a soccer ball. :rotfl:

round325.jpg

Oblong - This is a little different and looks from the picture a bit more delicate. It's an interesting shape isn't it?

oblong325.jpg

Heart #1 - This one is pretty with a fairly simple design. The heart shape is classic.

heartcage300.jpg

Heart #2 - This is another heart but with a bit more detail on it. Not sure how much of the pearl will show thru it.

heartdetail350.jpg

Now we start getting into a bit more unusual of shapes.....

Flower - This one is pretty different!

flower325.jpg

Fish - Probably my least favorite and would be a stretch for me to wear.

fish325.jpg

Diagonal Cube - This looks so tiny in the picture but so classy. If it's actually big enough to hold the pearl, it's one of my favs.

diagonalcube350.jpg

Royal - This is another "out there" one, the crown looks pretty unusual.

So there you have it. Which one would you choose and why? Thanks for your help!!

Yay on having a resort day before MNSSHP! What a fun way to spend the day! :thumbsup2

Loved seeing the Pop photos again!

Going to CRT before the party is a great idea - love all the costumes the girls will be wearing.

Going as Mouseketeers sounds cool! I think you should both use your DIS names on your shirts.

Great movie theme nights! Although I've seen Aladdin I have not done a theme night for it. Maybe I should try one.

I like the oblong and heart #1 cages. I think a pearl would look pretty in either of these :thumbsup2

Hopefully the rest at the resort lets us have a longer time at the party. :thumbsup2

Thanks! :goodvibes

Natalie's plan! It's a great way to get the party started.

I think I like that too...

Sure! It was fun putting the table and decorations together.... Ariana loves dressing up with the fun scarves and Jafar is still trapped under that bottle! :rotfl:

Thanks! I think between the two of those, I like the oblong... it just has that small touch of something different - you know?

Great updates!!!:goodvibes What a fun day!! Yay for MNSSHP!

Love all your pictures of Pop!! Oh...how I miss it!!! It's funny...because we actually considered staying somewhere else next year...but we couldn't do it! :laughing:We really love it there and honestly for the amount of time we spend in the room this works for us right now!:thumbsup2

Ooohhhh...more great movie nights! I can't wait to do our Lilo and Stitch night! Love that movie!:thumbsup2 What a good idea on the magic carpets! They turned out very cute!

I'm so glad you enjoyed doing the pick a pearl in Epcot. It's definitely on my must-do list next year! I was just looking at the carriage pearl cages on ebay the other day. They are so pretty. As far as your choices...they all are nice but I really like the oblong one.:)

I hear ya.... the second WDW trip we took, we wanted to try a different resort than Pop because we didn't know what else was out there. Pop was the best hands down! I can't wait to see the suites!

You can't go wrong with a Hawaiian theme, it's just too fun. The paper for the magic carpets was from a roll George had picked up to use while our basement is under construction.

Ooooo, two votes for the oblong one! :thumbsup2

love the updates :goodvibes

you guys as Mousekeeters is a wonderul idea I love it... you couyld put your real names on your shirts and then your DIS names on your hats...I want matt and I to get mouse ears when we go down (I don't have any..he does but w/out a name on it) and can't decide if I want Julie or Scrappie :confused3

I am a bit nervous on the weather too and we have only one party night to work w/...I am more concerned about rain then anything in my dress...we'll need to bring a large umbrella from home...not gonna walk around in a poncho

here's some pixiedust: for good weather for both of us!

Tour last two movie night tracy are two of our fav movies too...:goodvibes

@ CRT yes we got swords last yr

and for the pearl cages (I posted something on our FB group too) I like the oblong, diagonal square and heart # 1

J~

We LOVE this idea... but in the reverse. ;) We've decided to put our real names on our hats and our DIS names on our shirts.

I vote for Scrappie on your ears. :thumbsup2

Definately need good weather mojo for our party nights.... your awesome costumes need to be seen!

Awesome... he'll be thrilled and we can arrange to tie it to his waist. I won't mind too much if it gets lost throughout the evening. Last swords we brought home broke within a few days use anyways.

Oh, I'll check out FB once I get home - darn work block! Oblong is coming out strong with heart #1 hot on its heels. :thumbsup2

We would also like to take a look around the resort since it was so cold on our last trip we never really looked around much. :cold:

I love the Mouseketeers idea for us. Easy, fun and staying cool. Black shorts and a white shirt and ears! Now on our shirts, should we put our names as Natalie and Tracy? Or Tinkermom76 and Mickey_Mom ?? Pig tails or braids for my hair and I’ll be so comfortable!

Cold, what do you mean it was cold. prMamiDios was running around in shorts.

As far as your hair, I would go with braided pig tails.

I like the crown for the pearl cage, it looks Disneyish.

 You can't have braided pig tails silly! My mom used to call pig tails "cindies" from Cindy Brady on the Brady Bunch -- big huge single ringlet on each side of your head tied with a big ribbon. Just thought I'd tell you that.

Disneyish is what I thought too when I saw the crown one. :thumbsup2

My vote goes to the Oblong one as well. I like it because it's different than anything you see normally. I love the pick-a-pearl. It's so exciting waiting to see what you're going to get, I think that's why I like Vinylmations so much

I also LOVE your Halloween costumes, that'll be cute. I think you should just put your "regular" first names on your hats since that's what they actually had. When I went back in 2007 I dressed as Minnie but made the mistake of wearing leggings under my dress and it was so ridiculously hot. And DF (DBF at the time) more a pirate Mickey hat that he took off after abt 30 minutes because it was so bulky and hot. I think your regular mouse ears should be much cooler :thumbsup2

my vote for the pearl cage is heart 1, maybe I will go buy it too :confused3

Oblong is really pretty too!!!

I vot pigtails, I don't think my hair braids well since its layered

My hairdresser went to town on my hair a few weeks ago and let's just say it's the shortest I've had it in a very long time -- I think pigtails wins!

I can't wait to pick-a-pearl, we had a lot of fun with it and it's a great keepsake. The oblong one sure has won over most of your votes!

I don't want to take anything for the party that I'll end up carrying! I'm really hoping it's not too sweltering that Ariana's dress will be too much too.... a nice balmy evening with a light breeze would be perfect!

my vote for the pearl cage is heart 1, maybe I will go buy it too :confused3

Oblong is really pretty too!!!

I think I know which one ... (ones?) ... I'll be getting :teeth:

Love your plans and your recent movie nights!! We are doing Sword in the Stone this week, so I will be backtracking to steal some ideas, as this is a last minute one for us!

We did CRT for dinner right before our MVMCP and I have to say, it really gets the special night started off right!! Jack got plenty of attention from the princesses as well! I really love CRT, it's so magical!

Great updates Tracy!! I was a bit behind but got all caught up. Another couple of great movie nights! :thumbsup2

Your MNSSHP day plans sound great! CRT is a fun way to spend a birthday & kick off the party. Your costumes will be perfect.

Thanks for the info on the pearl cages. I'd really like to get one on my anniversary trip in November but don't really like the carriage cages... at least I don't see myself wearing it. I really like the square one & the soccer ball-ish looking one. And I can't believe how inexpensive they are on ebay!! I may have to buy a couple in case I get twins! :thumbsup2

This is definately a day I'm really looking forward to. I can imagine the whole room is going to be filled with even more princesses than usual and a host of other costumes too!

Great updates Tracy!! I was a bit behind but got all caught up. Another couple of great movie nights! :thumbsup2

Hi Amy! I'll have a few more movie nights posted soon, along with the pearl cage I chose today and ordered. :thumbsup2 I was surprised too with how inexpensive they are -- such a fun thing to do! Good luck with your anniversary picks -- I hope you do get twins!
