Shopping trip!

I mentioned earlier that while shopping for movie night items, I bought a few things that solved my dilema on what to do for Demetri's MNSSHP costumes. The first question being should I get him one or two costumes? Ariana had two... should I get him two? :confused3 If I did, what would they be? It (they..?) had to be something he wouldn't lose or take off half way thru the party - no props, no hats, nothing covering his face and nothing that would be too hot.

He wanted to be a pirate for sure and I thought it'd be an easy costume to shop for once POTC4 came out.... right? :headache: Not so much. Nothing was meeting my criteria.

Shopping at Party Packagers (which is where I found Ariana's costume as well) I came across a bin that had lots of different pirate items in it, meant for putting a party together. In it I found these simple items....

2011_06260007.jpg

A bandana that ties up in a knot in the back - light material so it won't be too hot. He wore a similar one before to go see POTC4 so I know he'll wear it. A scarf I can tie off on his waistband and pirate temporary tattoos.

2011_06260008.jpg

He can wear black shorts and I decided to try and find him a DISign for a shirt. I found this one! I'll try and find a brown tshirt to put that on.

One costume decided.... and now the other one. Still at Party Packagers, I found two items that helped me choose the second one.

2011_06260012.jpg

Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger cuffs and a blow up jet pack / wings thingie. I might later decide against the jet pack/wings but for now they're coming. A quick stop at the Disney Store and I picked up these too.

2011_06260009.jpg

2011_06260013.jpg

Buzz jammies and light up goggles. They have an adjustable strap and he can prop them on the top of his head like sunglasses. Costume number two wrapped up!

The Disney Store was having a sale..... :rolleyes1

2011_06260003.jpg

This was still 40% off so I picked up this chip and dip bowl.

2011_06260004.jpg

Demetri was thrilled to get this Phineas and Ferb shirt - he LOVES this show.

2011_06260001.jpg

These were part of a deal with the Buzz jammies - one set for $24.50, two for $30.

2011_06260010.jpg

Then it was off to Zellers that was having a storewide clearance sale and I picked up a stroller and some pool towels.

2011_06260002.jpg

I had a dollar store jaunt in there somewhere and I beefed up my glowstick collection.... (whoops, not the sparklers -they're for our Canada Day celebration coming up next week!)

2011_06260015.jpg

.... and packing everything away into my suitcase, I couldn't remember if I showed you all these guys yet....? We had the two trick or treat bags already and I got the red mickey bag for myself for $2.50. We'll use them at the MNSSHP parties for our trick or treat loot.

2011_06260014.jpg

So I knocked a few things off the to-do list, but I'm most happy about getting Demetri's costumes decided.

Coming up soon.... day 5 plans!

Love the purchases! Can't believe that even with POTC being out it was still hard to get a pirates outfit

The tattoos look like fun as does DISign for the shirt.

Ooh Buzz Lightyear as a second outfit – that is going to be soo cool! Can’t wait to see the final result :thumbsup2

I mentioned P&F to my sister this week and she was like you have to meet them and take a photo for me :rotfl:

Yay on getting a second pair of jammies in the deal. Great trick and treating bags and towels!

I'm still here - I thought I had posted recently, but I hadn't! :confused3 LOVING your movie nights. I really need to get on the ball with those - Henry would just love them. The pirate night, with the pizza boats---awesome. We HAVE to do that, he'll flip!

Great job on the costumes too! I am going to put Henry in a pirate costume this year for Halloween, I never even thought to check the DIS for a design-thank you for the tip!

Wow - Great shopping outing! :thumbsup2 You are so prepared for your trip!

I have no idea what we are going to wear for MVMCP... :confused3 I've been trying to find some Christmasy Disney shirts but I'm not having any luck. I'm hoping I don't have to make them myself.

Looks like a fun shopping trip! I loe the costumes you picked out for Demetri, those will be perfect. Fun and light weight. DF and I dressed up for MNSSHP back in 2008 and it was hot and rainy and therefore humid.. it was so miserable. I love you trick or treat bags too! very cute

He loves temp tattoos so I knew it'd be a fun way to carry on the pirate theming for him -- some guyliner and beard stubble and he's good to go. I was even trying to stay away from an eye patch because I knew it wouldn't last long.

Have you thought about putting your sister's picture on a stick so she can pose with the characters she likes? :lmao: It cracks me up when I see that in TRs!

Hi Brook! We had a ton of fun with the Peter Pan night pirate: I hope you get to do it for Henry! Demetri just discovered the rest of the chocolate coins I'd stashed away.

Your welcome about the pirate shirt -- I'm glad someone had already asked for it, it's a good one!

It's been a few weeks now, but when I was searching the Disney Store online for the Lion King mask I noticed a lot of Christmas shirts on sale - maybe try there? If you opt to make them, my favorite DISign is a peppermint Mickey Head on a green shirt.

Blech, bummer about the humidity for your party. I remember poor Ariana in a heavy princess gown for the MNSSHP we went to in 2007 - she was so lethargic and hot. :guilty: Easy, fun and light are exactly what I'm looking for this time! What were your costumes?

I love the shopping splurge there :thumbsup2

some great buys and some very simple and cute costume choices for Demetri...the Pirate shirt idea is very cool...and I remember nathan having those light up Buzz goggles :3dglasses

Amy...as it get's closer to Nov...you might be able to find something at target ot Old navy...they seem to have character shirts...or if you know you'd buy something just wait and get some matchy shirts down there. I just packed red shirts for the kids (bought B's at home) non Disney and Matt and i got the great Mickey santa hat shirts there...

I know I want something Halloween-ish for our Oct trip...but may wait and buy something down there...

Awesome purchases! I got Jack a simple one piece pirate costume on Amazon last year fro $10 that was super lightweight. I'm hoping it still fits. He already has those Buzz Jammies so if for soem reason it is chillier I am bringing those so he can go as Buzz instead!

We got that chip and dip bowl too...

I love that Minnie and Mickey Trick or Treat bag, we got it last year!

I can't wait to start buying stuff for our trip. I have to wait until I find out what I already have...

I was debating keeping the costumes a surprise for him until the trip but now I don't think I'll be going that route....

Ummmmmmm....what happens after 6 hours?????

Oh good heavens... I didn't even see that  Thank you!! I looked it up and apparantly it has something to do with the colour dyes used in the decals. Child specific, it can cause minor irritation -- needless to say we'll be testing it out on an inconspicuous area first to see if he reacts to it.

Demetri had one like you've described too but it was from 2009 and didn't fit him anymore. :sad1: Aren't the jammies cool for costumes? They were selling just the Buzz shirts too but it ended up being less to buy the jammies because of the sale. :thumbsup2

I can't wait to test out my chip and dip bowl... that's my junk food FAVORITE - yum!

No, that hadn't even crossed my mind but sounds hilarious!! :rotfl: Will def mention it to her and see what she makes of the idea :thumbsup2

I love your purchases. I think it's weird about the time limit with the tattoes though???? Aren't kids the ones that usually wear them? :confused3
I was at our Disney store yesterday...and even though they were having a LOT of things on sale, they still seemed to highpriced for me. Last winter i got some excellent stuff for much cheaper, so I only bought 2 small things.

Hi everyone!!! Sorry I haven't been around lately but I have been working like crazy!!!

On July 1st we celebrated Canada day and I actually took 2 days off! I spent one night in Niagara Falls with the kids and we did a triple feature at the drive-in. We saw Cars 2 (which I loved) Pirates (2nd time and still love it) and Bridesmaids... So damn funny!!!!!!
We left there at 4 am :scared1:
On July 1st I spent the day (and night) drinking wine at my friend Tracy's house (no not Mickey_mom, I have 2 Tracy's)

Then on July 2nd I made my way to see Tracy (yes Mickey_Mom) to get some trip planning in!!!!

So I had a great holiday weekend and hope all our American friends had a great 4th of July as well!!!

Hopefully we will have a trip update coming up real soon :)

I haven't tried the tattoos out yet (I'm going to try it on myself first - arrrrrgh! pirate:) but hopefully he's not one of the 'lucky' ones that has a reaction. There are definately a lot of things at the Disney Store that are just too expensive, but I typically get the sale items after I do a quick mental comparison to buying the equivalent at Walmart, Zellers, etc..... some of them are also just too cute to pass up!

Busy busy busy! :thumbsup2 Triple drive-in... good for you! I can't remember the last time I went to the drive-in.

I have Day 5 plans to post, another two FUN movie nights we've had to share and I have a poll to ask everyone that I hope can help me choose something to buy. ::yes::

Good to see you back on the boards Natalie. Glad to read you had a great Canada's Day - wow at seeing all them movies!

Ooh look forward to seeing what the poll is about Tracy! Btw I mentioned your idea of taking my sister with me (on a stick lol!) to participate in our photos and she loved the idea! :thumbsup2 So now there will be three of us in some of our character meet and greets! :rotfl:

OK, I guess I will accept your apology for not having many updates lately. It was a Holiday weekend and all.

So is the latest Pirates movie any good? I loved the first one, the second one was ok, the third was eh in my opinion. How was Cars 2? I'm not too interested in Bridesmaids. Well at least not the movie.:lmao:

I liked the new one. None will compare to the first one but it was good. Cars 2 was good as well and we will be buying it when it comes out!!!

Bridesmaids is a funny movie, and I won't tell your wife you said that (unless she is the bridesmaid you are referring to?)

DAY 5

Tuesday, September 27, 2011
Resort Day and MNSSHP
Reservations: CRT

Since the day before this we may have been out late at DTD, we can sleep in today (Tracy will be so happy) because this is our resort day!!!

I love resort days. A nice relaxing day part way thru the trip, gives you the chance to recharge, relax and re-energize for the rest of your days. Oh yes, I will be sleeping in! Especially after our busy, fun-filled day 4. But not too long... I’m looking forward to chilling out at the pool.

Now I have never had a resort day before so this will be new for me and the girls but it will be nice to have the time to just hang out and swim and check out the resort (I didn’t know there was a playground). :confused3

Don’t forget laundry!:laundy:

So even though it is resort day I know I will be up early so the girls and I will probably sneak off for a Pop waffle and let Tracy and the kids sleep.

Awww, you’re too sweet. Large double/double please ;)

Emma is so excited that she gets to spend some quality time with the POOL today and I plan to develop a relationship with Petals Pool Bar and the Creamsicle!!!

Ok, I had to Google the Creamsicle and I think I just might try that. Is it really sweet? The Pina Colava intrigued me too but I’m not a huge raspberry fan. Is it a strong raspberry taste or just a little refreshing kick to it?

We would also like to take a look around the resort since it was so cold on our last trip we never really looked around much. :cold:

I lucked out on our resort day last trip and pretty much had the entire resort to myself while I was walking around solo. Some of my favourite Pop pictures.....

After we have spent the day relaxing and swimming we need to get dressed up in our costumes because we are having dinner with some special princesses and a party to attend!

We have reservations at 4:20 at CRT! As soon as Emma found out we were going to Disney in September for her birthday she told me she wanted to eat at the castle. princess: We have had breakfast here but not dinner so it will be a new experience for us.

That early dinner ressie time will get us into the park the earliest we can with our MNSSHP tickets and take care of eating before the festivities begin. Perfect! We’ve had dinner here in the past and didn’t enjoy it as much as breakfast, but that was partly because we hadn’t expected the Fairy Godmother to be the only entertainment. Now that the Princesses will be there, it’s the perfect way to start the evening!

Eryka will probably dress as Cinderella (since it’s the castle) and Emma will probably wear her new Ariel dress. As for me, Tracy and I decided we are going to go as Mouseketeers! We are going to make the shirts and buy our ears when we get there!!!

Ariana has a Cinderella costume too, but we’ll go opposite to Eryka whichever she chooses and probably be Snow White. Ariana LOVES Snow White and has been her almost every Halloween... plus I think it’ll be pretty cool that we’re covering three of the Princesses that we’ll be dining with! Our solo boy will be a Pirate on this first party. He usually gets extra attention from the Princesses (which of course he just soaks all in!) and I think he will have even more fun with it pretending he’s a nasty pirate. pirate: Arrrrgh!!! Do they still hand out swords at CRT? If so, I might bring something along with us that will allow him to strap the sword to his waist and it will fit right into his costume. I don't yet have a picture of him in his costume... he hasn't tried anything on yet. :rolleyes1

I love the Mouseketeers idea for us. Easy, fun and staying cool. Black shorts and a white shirt and ears! Now on our shirts, should we put our names as Natalie and Tracy? Or Tinkermom76 and Mickey_Mom ?? Pig tails or braids for my hair and I’ll be so comfortable!

2011_0419Misc0004.jpg

This celebration will be the day before Ariana’s birthday and though I will get her a cake :cake: on the actual day, I still want to get something small for her here. I think the best choice for her will be the glass slipper. I’ve heard differing things about when to order it ranging from before you leave home to the time you sit at your table, so I think I’ll order it from home and confirm it the day we check in.

1105-1.jpg

After dinner it will be PARTY TIME!!!!!!!!! The first MNSSHP of the trip! We don’t have a lot of information about the party yet, especially since the Fantasyland expansion for sure will mess up the Alice trail and the Skyway is now closed so we don’t know if the Dwarfs will be there or where they will be.

There will be such a flurry of planning once the details of that first party come out! I can’t wait to hear! I do know that I want to get the Haunted Mansion photopass shot :hmghost: – I’ve never done this... oh and there’s a CM in costume outside the Haunted Mansion...?? I’ve never seen Cinderella’s carriage either. We last went to a MNSSHP in 2007 pre-DIS so I had no idea those things were even there! :disrocks:

I know for sure during the 1st party we want to see the FIRST parade. I know it is the most crowded but 2 years in a row we have gone to MVMCP and decided on the later parade and Emma fell asleep both years so I want to go to the early one to make sure she gets to see this one! After the parade we will watch the fireworks then see the Villains show. I think the rest of this night will be trick or treating and we can leave the characters for the next party! What do you think Tracy?

Splitting things up between our two party nights is definitely a smart idea. The only hiccup to that could be the weather but I think we should plan that out more once the party details start coming out. I’d like to see the parade from Frontierland.

Must do’s spaced out over both party days will be:
• HalloWishes, Villans Show and Boo to You Parade. I hope to get a Headless Horseman picture!
• Character greets including Dr Facilier, Cruella de Vil, the Dwarfs, Malificent and the Evil Queen. Love me some villans!! Plus any other character in their Halloween finest... so many characters!
• Dance party! Even just for a short, quick dance – I’ve never been and I love to dance!
• Trick or treating (closer to the end of the night so we get loaded up!)
We’ll have some time between dinner and when the party officially begins so we should come up with a plan for that short stretch of time too. Any thoughts?

I’m sure the kiddies will be sleepy by the end of the night and ready for bed!

I really hope we stay till the party ends at midnight!!
