Love your movie night!! Aww...Hercules is a favorite here too! We haven't watched it in so long though...I may have to dig it out this weekend. I know the boys would love the medal idea! We just may try that too!!!

Another fabulously-themed movie night... everyone looks like they had such fun! Hercules is one of those gems I haven't seen in years...

Hercules makes us laugh from start to finish... we had a fabulous time!

Tonight we watched

GREAT movie night!!! I'm gonna tell the kids you made yours eat out of doggy bowls!! We LOVE Bolt and that would have been so fun!

We're setting you up for the big let down when we just watch a movie one week

It is going to be different being there in Sept when it's hot, the last 2 years I went in December and the year before was in February so Hot is not something I really know

I am so excited that Tracy and the kids are coming with me, it will be nice to have an adult to hang out with!!!

Oh it gets hot that's for sure. We bring Crystal Light and iced tea packets to mix with water all day long and we hop to and from air conditioning.... VERY different than the last two bundled up trips I've taken.

I love the look of AK and hope I will still feel the same way after our visit! What a great pic of The Tree of Life!

I think you will all have great fun at Tusker House! Your plans sound great!

You know what I had not heard about the surprise on ITTBAB!! Every TR I've read so far has just said they will not spoil the surprise so thanks!! In seriousness though I think I am glad I know what to expect as otherwise would have freaked out big time!!

Look for all the details all around you at AK and you will love it. The Tree of Life is amazing and definately worth getting up close to see.

Even going into ITTBAB kinda knowing what's going to happen, I know I'll still be freaked out!

Last week's movie night was one I'd chosen for Demetri, so tonight's pick was for Ariana and her favorite Princess.

Snow White has been her favorite FOREVER!


Planning this evening, I wasn't really finding anything in terms of a themed dinner, so I decided to make it more of a craft night. In fact, to give us more time for the crafts we just had leftovers.


Our setup.....

For decorations we had a Snow White paper doll with standup Dwarfs, Queen and Hag (I forgot the Prince at work!) Ariana's Dwarf cottage and wishing well and a 'Welcome' sign in a downloaded Snow White font.

Our crafts were make your own crowns.....

Mining for jewels.....

Making the Dwarfs.....

Each craft we did were ideas I got from the family night thread or the Disney Family website -- but tweaked to go with supplies we either had on hand or I found easily at the dollar store.


Make your own crowns were from templates from the Disney Family website that were supposed to be glued onto a headband. Instead, we borrowed from the Bunny ears we made this Easter weekend and just made a bristol board band.


We made it a regal blue band with a white crown for decorating with stick on jewels. Blue squares for Demetri and red flowers for Ariana.

Pipe cleaners glued on, once everything had dried, the kids loved their crowns.

As we were waiting for the crowns to dry, we mined for jewels. Gemstones were buried in a container of rice and using pie tins with holes punched into them, the kids screened for the jewels that we collected in a treasure box. This was a little messy as Ariana loved to just run her fingers through the container, and in retrospect I would use a bigger container so they didn't have to take turns mining.

They had a lot of fun with this activity!


Lastly, we tried to make Dwarfs out of corks, pipe cleaners, pom poms and felt. This craft turned out to be totally revamped from what it was supposed to be..... I couldn't find wooden beads so we used marshmallow foam pieces. The pipe cleaners weren't co-operating so we just wrapped them around the corks and I can't remember where I stashed my googly-eyes so we just used the leftover blue jewels from Demetri's crown, lol!

So the end result is not so much Dwarf, as Robin Hood rock stars!

They're still cute!


Time to watch the movie so all our decorations and crafts came to the living room with us.....

Demetri hadn't seen this before and it had been forever since I watched it so it was GREAT to see it again. Ariana was absolutely thrilled and was murmuring the character names to herself before they'd come into the scene.


A rousing round of applause when the movie was done and it was time to take another segment of links down from our chain.

We've had so much fun with these movie night crafts and activities.

I've been keeping costs down by just going to the dollar store for supplies but I had to duck into Michael's the other day and couldn't resist sweeping the aisles for ideas --- they have soooo many great things in there to do!!

I love them too! We'll have to reuse them again if we do Robin Hood -- maybe add a feather to the caps and they'll be the Merry Men!

The crafts really do help the kids focus on the details of the movies - Demetri especially. He kept referring to Snow White as Cinderella when the night's theme was revealed to him, but he knows a lot about it now!

The mining was Ariana's favorite activity -- once we'd found all the jewels she loved to just bury her hands in there. The new ride was what I thought about too!

I got an e-mail this morning from Disney Rewards (my Disney Visa) offering a Free Dining promotion and it said to "book now before this offer is released to the public on May 2). Of course it's not good for my dates but it is for yours so I figured I'd give you a heads up if you weren't getting any other type of promotion.

I booked with the kids stay and play free promotion and having 2 kids and one adult that works better for me than free dining. I believe Tracy is booked with her AP discount (she can correct me if I'm wrong)

I need to rerun the calculations and check again if the free dining is cheaper for us. It's always been such a huge discount with our family trips but this time I've booked room & dining with my AP discount and it works out for a better savings.

I'm glad to hear the free dining is being offered still -- I think the last I'd heard they weren't doing it for the general public anymore.

The rock star Dwarfs are hanging out for now on our coffee table... they make me laugh everytime I see them. For some reason they remind me of Elton John !
