5 Days, 4 Parks, 3 DIS-meets, 2 ADR’s, and 1 Solo DISer! Done! Finished! Completed!!

Wonderful Dinoland details!!!! I re-read the blog too, just as interesting the second time around. :goodvibes I didn't make it to Dinoland this past trip, it will be a "must see" next time to capture of a few details myself!

 "it's a girl!" :rotfl:

As usually I will try to post replies to your nice comments after I get this update UP! (pun intended)

Animal Kingdom continues…

I was just going over my notes and I’m amazed at how much I was able to get done in one hour’s time. It was 12:19pm when I bought batteries in Chester and Hester’s shop (10 bucks for an 8 pack if you were wondering) and I still walked around Dinoland after that. At the end of this update of pictures it will be approx. 1:34pm.

Here we go….

I went back to EE for my FastPass ride. I remember that I really looked around at the top before you go into the mountain….I was amazed to see Kidani Village!

100409308.jpg

Then I walked the Jungle trek.

What is this animal????

Close your eyes now if you don’t like bats!

100409315.jpg

100409316.jpg

I tried chatting with the Tiger CM…..he was no Gorilla CM but I did learn that all the Tigers on display are females…

Dirty Bird! (that’s for you KathyRN!)
100409324.jpg

Then I popped over to the Yak & Yeti TS with no ADR at peak lunch time and score a table within 10 minutes….how’s that for mojo?
I was there for dessert – the wontons and pineapple. I wish I could say that I loved it, but I didn’t. I wanted to because that was the whole reason for going there but they just seemed to be lacking something. I might try them again but it’s not high on my re-do list.

How’s that for a little over an hour at AK??

great pix!

Thanks for the link. Very interesting and cool. I wish the Imagineers would let us in on more of the backstory for attractions. It would make everyone appreciate WDW that much more.

I'm glad you had the time to explore and enjoy...I think I'll be taking your lead next month.

I really did slow down and even stopped sometimes to really look at things. There were many ques that I told people to pass me because I was looking at something.

That is an amazing blog. I should have known there was an incredible back story to that section of the park, but I just took it for granted. I guess I was never as bothered by it as some, so it didn't phase me.

I'm so grateful you posted that link, because now I can notice all those details the next time I go. Amazing!

And great photos, as usual, Heidi. :thumbsup2

I've never had a problem with Dinoland either....everything can't be an E-Ticket. Plus I love the carnival games!

I've always enjoyed browsing around that quirky little store!
Jack Spence is awesome...

"It's a girl!" :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Kathy

I had never been in there before....used the restroom there, but never stopped to "shop" before.

Great photos.

Thanks! And I really didn't care if it seemed odd to other guests if I was taking pictures of walls....I was having fun.

Awesome pictures of Dinoland!!! It is just teeming with little details all throughout it! :thumbsup2

Can you imagine being the person that had to source out all those little dinos for the store?

Great update Heidi!! I love that blog!! I had never read it before tonight, but now will read it on a regular basis. I'm even more excited to go back to Dinoland now!!

Jack Spense writes incredible articles....you show read his series on Toyko Disneyland and DisneySeas.

Great photos and fun blog! I always get a kick out of the Dinoco.

:thumbsup2

How fun to just snap and stroll!

I love Dinoco too. I have to do some research on it because I've seen real Dinoco gas stuff that people collect.

I love your "It's a girl" picture. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I'm so glad it was a girl and not a boy!

I've read Jack Spence for a while now, and love every post that comes up!! So much detail!!

Glad to see you back around, I think it's been awhile since I've seen you Heidi!! :yay:

I read the DIS way more then I'm able to write comments or replies but I'm on here no way as near as much as I used to be.....in fact Danica just woke up from her nap as I'm typing this.

Wow...that was a great article and it gave me a whole new appreciation for Dinoland...

I always thought it was cute and retro but had no idea about the whole story behind it...it really adds to it know all of that...

Now that is one of the really nice things about taking a solo trip...being able to take the time to really check out those details without getting antsy to catch the next ride...or buy something...etc...:lmao:

Not having ADR's to get to all the time was a super plus too. So much so that I don't see us doing too many in the future when we go back.

There is a whole story about Camp Minnie-Mickey too, more of a developement story than back story....I'll see if I can find a link for an article.

I love the Dinoland pics. There are so many cool little details that I never really noticed before. I can't wait for my next trip to really pay attention.

I thought you were going to do that on you Dec 2008 trip! lol

More replies later!

Oh, more great pictures, Heidi!

Cool bit of info about the tigers -- I had no idea they were all girls. Love the one all stretched out and cooling her belly -- my black cat Bagheera is always lying like that. :rotfl:

I think the bats are so neat to watch!

Great Animal Kingdom update!! I'm really enjoying reading my way through that blog!! I had no idea the backstory at all about Dinoland!

Dirty Bird! (that’s for you KathyRN!)

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

i'm just loving your slow, relaxed pace!! It must be especially nice not to have to race through the exploration trails....

Those tigers are just gorgeous!

Aw, too bad about the wonton & pineapple... it's gotten some great reviews in the past. I've yet to try Yak and Yeti, myself. Nice to be able to do so vicariously! ;)

KATHY

It's amazing what one can get done in an hour when alone!

So sorry about the wontons, I love the wonton part of the idea but not so sure about the pineapple and your review is cementing that!

Great update.

I thought you were going to do that on you Dec 2008 trip! lol

I was, but sadly I didn't end up doing most of the "enjoy the details" things that were on my list.

You got so much done in one hour. Wow! Isn't it amazing what you get done when your not with kids in the park.

I feel like I'm traveling with you what a great pace. you got alot done, but at a relaxing speed...

sorry about the wontons and pineapple...

See, now that's something that in idea sounds really tasty! Especially with a vanilla/ jasmine sauce of some kind. Warm, of course. Dang! I would have tried it too. Thanks for the warning!!

I love bats!! I think I even like em more than the tigers.

yet again another great update...it really has me excited for our return...though I don't know how much looking we'll get done in level 9 crowds w/ 4 kids...but have two non kiddo trips in the works...

either way looking forward to finding the inner magic :goodvibes

Great updates! Thanks for that link to the blog about Dino-land and all those great pics! I had never heard/read the backstory before. Very interesting! I'm looking forward to exploring that area on our next trip.

I'm amazed at how much someone can get done in such a short time when touring solo! :thumbsup2

That animal is a tapir....here is the AllEars article on the Trek and some info about the tapir: http://allears.net/tp/ak/ak_mjt.htm

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the dessert. I have read quite a few similar reviews to what you said...it was lacking something...I think one review I read suggested some fruit or something mixed in with the cream cheese to give it a bit more oomph.

Still at AK on Day 3….

Next stop the Safari using my FP from the morning. I gotta say that this safari ride was the worst I’ve ever been on. I always ride first thing in the morning and today I didn’t ride until almost 2pm and it was...……lame. Well at least I proved my own point in suggesting to others that you should always try to do the safari multiple times because some rides are better than others.
Oh well. Here are the highlights:

My next stop was the Lion King show –sorry not blurry pictures to share – I just wanted to enjoy the show. I have to admit to getting a wee bit teary eyed during the show thinking how much Liam will love this show when we go back as a family.

I had planned to check out the character trails (never have before) but I didn’t feel like it. It was now 3pm and I wanted to avoid getting stuck by the parade so I slowly made my way out of the park. I had a special DIS-meet planned at Epcot that night so I wanted to go back to my resort to chill.

Raise your hand if you get excited when you see bunnies at your Disney resort!
100409335.jpg

Sorry about the mediocre safari ride. Your pictures are good, though.

A DIS meet at Epcot??? Were there drinks involved??? ;)

My hand is raised for the bunny excitement! LOL!

My hand's up!! :lmao: But I get more excited when I see armadillos at my resort. I included our armadillo sighting not too long ago on my Retro Report over on my thread. It's great seeing all the birds too, that we don't normally get to see over here, or even in Oregon for that matter.

I've only been on the Safari once- it was lame. I'll give it another try, but I"m not too hopeful. We'll see...

I cry at Nemo, Wishes, you name it. What a sap.

A DIS meet you say? :goodvibes

I got a little choked up watching FOTLK. It's an amazing show.

Love the bunnies!! ::yes::

Sorry your safari was lame - I think Zach had the same opinion when we took a second safari last year. :rolleyes1
