5/30/2010-5 Night Disney Wonder Memorial Day Double Dip! Roster-Post 626 on page 42

Hello Everyone!!!

Yes, it's cold here in Charleston, WV too!!! It seems to be staying cold. I can't remember the last time snow stayed on the ground this long. Usually, it will snow and within 48 hours, it's gone. The snow has been on the ground all week...although, it's NOT a lot.

Fish extenders....ours was just a tote bag that I ironed on a decal to! Just hung it from the fish. Worked out really well and was inexpensive and light/easy to pack.

Pre/Post Cruise....if you are planning on staying on Disney property, I believe all your options are....A) Using WDW transportation. they have a per person fee, and I honestly don't know the cost because we usually, B) rent a car when we fly into Sanford, travel to WDW, stay on site, drive to port, and drop the car at the rental place, take the shuttle to the ship. but you can also C) Stay at one of the hotels and actually leave your car in their parking lot for free. Friends of ours do this a lot. They drive to FL, stay at a port hotel and take the hotel shuttle to and from the ship. We might actually do this the next time...not sure....there are a lot of factors in deciding!

It seems like a few of us are traveling to WDW this summer! I think we are all a week different though! End of May (Greenacres), first week of June (KSDD) and we'll be arriving on the 14th! Any chance any of these trips are over lapping for a quick meet?

I am off to get my house in order! Steve is off for the next 3 days, so I want to be sure to have my chores done so we can play!!!

Hi all,

Finished packing for our upcoming WDW trip. We leave in 2 weeks. It ill be nice to get away from the Philly cold!

CHris and I have decided to spend our 10 year wedding anniversary in WDW, esp since that was where we were married. We got a great deal (nurses discount-DH is an RN) at the Dolphin. We will be there from July 18-25. We know it will be hot and crowded but we are planning a more low-key, romantic vacation.

Congratulations! What a wonderful way to escape this weather!! Our 10 year is next year, so the cruise & some time at the Poly will be great way for us to celebrate!

This year, we'll be in WDW from 5/17 - 5/22 at OKW :goodvibes

Another vote for rental cars! We've done that the last two times and it couldn't have been easier. The one-way rentals are much more reasonably priced than Disney transportation, especially for a family of 5!

We will be at WDW this summer from May 30th to June 7th.

We'll be celebrating our 20th anniversary next year. It's not until September, but the cruised and a short stop afterwards at WDW will be our celebration. Originally, we intended to travel without kids and take a bicycle tour of Napa Valley, but we can't figure out a way to pull that off. Now that our kids are so independent, we'll have plenty of alone time for Palo, wine tasting, etc.

This summer's trip dates are May 23 - 30. We just couldn't pass up the buy 4 get 3 free. School ends here on May 22nd and then off we go!

I hope everyone's keeping warm. We had some great 70-degree days last week, but now it's back in the 30s. I really can't wait for spring!

Next summer is our 20th anniversary as well (August for us)!! We had contemplated taking the WB repo cruise in September to celebrate, but just couldn't get past taking the kids out of school for two weeks or leaving them behind and flying internationally. Plus, the airfare was expensive (about $900 per person) and the hotel booked through Disney the night before in Barcelona was over $600 per night! The cruise itself was about the same per person as the 5 night Wonder cruise! 14 nights vs 5??

We also leave for WDW the day after school gets out for us this year!

Your weather sounds identical to ours. We had 70's last week, below 0 this past Monday with snow and back to the 40's today.

ITA...Palm trees seem so inviting right now! The WDW and cruise pictures on our digital frame are taunting us!!

However, the kids are wanting at least one snow day here in Denver. We haven't had one this year (or even last year). Although the winter has been fairly mild, we had a cold snap this past week that brought about 3 inches of snow and temps below 0 for a day and it made me realize how much I'm looking forward to summer!

Hello everyone!

We are at home on our 4th Snow Day this week! The 6th for this month and the 7th for this school year! I think, at this point, they might be going to school until the 4th of July! J/K Our last day of school should have been June 1, but now they will go the whole week, ending on that Friday, the 5th? That will still give me a week to pack before our trip to the world!!

the weather here in WV is reeking havoc on everyone! Monday we got about 2 inches of snow that caused school to cancel. The Tuesday was the big snow of about 5 inches. Tuesday night it rained and Wednesdays brought another coating of snow on top of what was melting and refreezing. Last night, the precipitation stopped, but all the slush is now frozen solid. The main roads are in good shape, but they are saying on/off ramps and secondary roads are in bad shape. PLUS, with the ice from yesterday, we still have thousands in our county without power. Thankfully, we still do! I think, if the roads get better, the boys and I will go to a movie and McD's for lunch before. We went to the store on Monday and got groceries, but we've been cooped up since! It's time to get out!

So, I too, would LOVE a warm breeze, a palm tree, a cold girly drink with an umbrella and to see my boys sliding down the slide at Stormalong Bay!

Local friends of ours will be going to WDW the same week we are, so we are meeting for a Grand Gathering for the International Dinner and Illuminations Dessert Buffet....I think that's what it's called! LOL Anyone know ahything about this? Have you done it?

Well, I better get moving. I want to get the house cleaned up before we go to the show. Then later tonight, we are trading in Steve's Mitsubishi Outlander for a Chevy Tahoe Hybrid! Since the dealer that has it is about an hour away, I am sure we'll go to dinner afterward!

Everyone stay safe and warm!!!!

Wow, I can't believe there is a link already for this cruise. I feel I'm out if the loop already.
This will be DH and my 3rd disney cruise and DS's second.
It's me: Michele
DH: Eric
DS: Trevor (age 7 at time of cruise)

We are excited for the 5 day, double dip. DS's first cruise was a 4 nighter over his 5th birthday. It was also over Halloween, alot of fun. He never wanted to leave the kids club. We were chased around by a hurricane though, so our time at Castaway Cay was cut short. He only got in the ocean for about 20minutes. We figure with two days this time, we ought to be able to get some beach/ocean time.
Glad I found this thread. May of 2010 can't come soon enough.!!!

:welcome: I've added you to the roster on page one. Our youngest DS will be 8 on this cruise (just by a couple of months).

Yes, we're hoping for lots of time on Cataway Cay -- our favorite port! We've been lucky that on all three of our cruises, we've had a full day of fun at Castaway Cay but feel it's been cut short each time. We've done parasailing, snorkeling, stingrays, banana boat, boat rentals and just lots of time sitting in beach chairs drinking Konk Koolers! This time, I'd love to do the jet ski adventure and perhaps even rent bikes for a trip across the island to the lookout. And because we can share kid watching with my parents, we might be able to escape over to Serenity Bay as well!!

I know it's more than a year away, but I thought I'd start posting some of my favorite pictures of Castaway Cay to escape these last few weeks of winter. Feel free to post your favorites!

Hi All! Tramp (Chris) and the Lady (Rita) will be on our honeymoon for this cruise! This is our first cruise. We're so excited.

By the way, what are fish extenders? what do you do with them? I saw a bunch of posts about those on the main boards.

:welcome: and CONGRATS on the honeymoon!!! We'll be celebrating 20 years next summer!

I've added your names to the first post.

A fish extender is an item with pockets that extends down from the fish next to each stateroom door. On our last cruise, we had several people sign up prior to the cruise to join the fish extender group. If you signed up and hung a fish extender outside your room, other DISers left you goodies each day in your fish extender pockets. Some of the gifts included candy, small toys, stickers, pens, pins, temporary tattoos, music CD's with cruise music, mickey car antenna toppers, lots of magnets and lots of other goodies. It was fun for the kids (and us) to see what was in our fish extender each day.

Here's a picture of our fish extender from last summer:

I'm going to start putting the Castaway Cay pics in semi-chronological order rather than jumping around.

Here's a first glimpse of Castaway Cay in the distance:

HI everyone!!! These photos of CC are making me long to be there!! I was thinking of it yesterday as the snow was falling, again!!

I quit my babysitting job last week! I did for many reasons...one was she had laid me off for 3 weeks and her Mom was keeping the kids...I wasn't sure if I was being pushed out or not, but after 3 weeks of being here for my kids and being able to spend time volunteering at school, I called and quit! It wasn't without a lot of soul searching. I do miss those babies dearly, but this is better for me and my boys. Although, I do miss the paychecks, as little as they may have been. I applied today to work for the census, so we'll see if they call me on that, and I called back to the preschool where I did subbing, so I hope to hear from them for some part time stuff! Both of these are part time, so I can still be at the school when they need me or at the track for practices or at the football field or at the band practice! They do keep me hopping!

I'll have to look through my CC photos and see what I have to share!

Can't WAIT to be on the cruise!!
Whatever you do...
