WELCOME!!

We were on deck 2 on the 12/4 cruise and we loved it. Very quiet, and we felt little or no movement of the ship.

This is going to be a great cruise. Two stops at paradise :cloud9: will be WONDERful. Only 513 more days :rotfl:

Thanks for the replies and I can use all the advice I can get. This is the first cruise for all of us and as the compulsive planner of the group I feel responsible for making sure we all have a wonderful time but save money at the same time! I especially believe our children (now 12, 4 and 7) would feel better leaving us adults if they knew some others their age that would be there. I would especially welcome advice on hotels with cruise parking in the vicinity of the port.

man i keep thinking how good this cruise is going to be and keep getting discouraged about how long i have to wait.

Welcome!! I will add you to the list when I get on a "normal" computer. It's hard to type on this iPod.

You'll find lots of help here and your kids will have a great time! Ours enjoy DCL more than WDW or at least equally as much!

When sailing from PC, we prefer to stay at WDW the night before and rent a car. For the five of us we can do two one-way rentals for less than roundtrip disneybtransfers. You can find car rental codes here or on mousesavers.

Feel free to ask any questions! It is a long way off but by reading the disboards you can find lots of tips to make the cruise more magical or "wonder"ful!

Hello everyone!!

we are back rrom the beach and back to the grind!

I really enjoyed HHI. I am thinking we need to go back there someday. I also REALLY enjoyed Savannah, GA and look forward to visiting that city again. We ate at Paula Deen's Lady and Sons. It was VERY good!! I have read a lot of bad reviews about it, and was getting discouraged. So, we went expecting the worst and hoping for the best, which is what we got! I have to admit, we all, 7 of us to be exact, did not like the dressing/stuffing that was on the buffet. However, even if I had all of you over for dinner and laid out 4 meats, 10 veggies and starches, a salad bar and 3 desserts, I am SURE there would be a few things you didn't like either! All in all, we really enjoyed it. Would I go back again, sure, however, Savannah has SO many neat places to offer, I would want to try and experience them all!!! So, next time we go back, we'll try something different!!

DCLPhanatic95, my son Colton is the same age as you! I'll tell him you are posting and get him on here too!

Welcome to all the new folks and HELLO! to all!!

Everyone have a great day!!

Hello all,

Our cruise will be here before we know it. We booked our 2008 October cruise in March 2007 and we felt it was never going to arrive. BUT, I found the DIS and it made it go by very fast! As it gets closer, we can maybe plan:

A DIS Meet on the cruise the 1st day
Door Decorations (my favorite thing!!!!!)
Fish Extender Gifts
A DIS Lunch

We did all of this on our last cruise and everything was SO much fun! Sometimes the planning is alot of fun, too!! :cool1:

I love doing the fish extender exchange and decorating our door was lots of fun too! I think that we should do a DIS meet on the first day and I like the idea of a DIS lunch too. I sure wish we were at Castaway Cay right now...it is soooo cold outside!!!

OOOh we went to Savannah for a long weekend in October, even though we are in the same state we are at the extreme opposite corner of the state and it was a really long drive. The weather wasn't too great either, rainy and cool. But it was neat seeing the city - we took a trolley tour - and spent alot of time on River Street (in between rainshowers). We did catch a break with the weather when we headed to the beach at Tybee and had a really good time, it was DS 1st time at the beach and he LOVED the ocean!

Glad you made it back OK!

We took the trolley tour too. I think it's a GREAT way to see the city for the first time. I loved how they narrated between stops and told you what was coming up. I would do it again and have more time to get off at every stop. We didn't leave as early as I would have liked and then we went to a mall on the other end of the city so my MIL could get a new pair of shoes that she can't get at home. SAS brand. I am definitely going to look into booking another trip there!

I think those events are more than enough for a 5-night cruise. And I completely agree that planning makes the overall vacation even more fun!! We had so much planned for our 15-night cruise, but couldn't participate in many of the events as there was just too much to do elsewhere!! We had group dining (about 250 of us at early dining and over 100 at late dining) as well as organized t-shirts, wristbands, nametags and lanyards! We did Secret Mickeys for adults and the kids, group happy hours, group wine tastings, mickey head ice cream eating contest, scavenger hunt, group excursions (most ports were non-Disney group excursions, but at Cartagena we had a van of 25 of us DISers who just created an impromptu group excursion on the official Disney excursion!), weekly newsletters before the cruise, a navigator just for the group, a separate website just for those on the cruise, a picture sharing site after the cruise, a kids postcard exchange, scrapbooking meet and exchange, princess brunches and pictures, group pirate picture on Deck 9, a stateroom tour to see each category of room and I'm sure I've forgotten something. It was a blast, but also overwhelming!!

We truly enjoyed the fish extenders and door decorations. Delivering the FE gifts enabled us to see so many of our fellow DISers room decorations! Here was a picture of ours early in the cruise. By the end of the cruise, the doors had so much more personality as we received many magnets from fellow DISers!

Welcome back to reality Michele! I seem to always get into post vacation blues, but get over it by planning our next "holiday"!!

Colton is also the same age as my oldest as well! As I've said before, he doesn't always initiate email penpal well, but he did have a great experience with someone he "met" before the cruise so perhaps he'll could actually type out some emails!

This will be our third Disney Cruise. We had a New Year's Land/Sea for 2007 and a New Year's 7-day Western for 2008. I'm excited to be cruising to kick off the summer instead of the new year.

We are: Me(Lisa), DH, DD, and DS. DD will be 19 and DS will be two weeks shy of 15 at cruise time. We've participated in DIS gatherings and fish extender gifts and look forward to joining again.

To help the time go faster, we'll be headed to The World to kick off this summer at the end of May.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone here.

Lisa

Hello Everyone,
I hope you all are a lot warmer then we currently are in Buffalo, New York. I have a question, what are fish extenders, I know about the door decorating but curious about the fish things. (LOL) I too an counting down the days till this cruise but have a Disney Trip in March so that should break up the long wait. We have planned to stay at PC before and after the trip so I will have to figure out which hotel on Disney property to take a cab to the moring of to get the ship. any suggestions? Also I want to stay at PC after the cruise for a few days. Any suggestions on how to do that?
Thanks
Cindy

:welcome: I've added you to the first page roster! I think your son makes the fourth 15 year old boy in this group so far. My son will be turning 15 the day after we disembark.

We're also heading to WDW this summer -- the first weekend in June. We might go a few days earlier as it's my son's birthday and I've heard you can get a $75 gift card if you already have a ticket for the day.

Not sure if this is exciting or depressing! This is a longer wait than we had when we booked our Panama Canal cruise.

It's in the 60's here in Denver today! We went for a long bike ride and had to shed the jackets before it was over.

Are you going to WDW or not before/after the cruise? If you're just staying at Port Canaveral before/after the cruise, you can just take a cab directly to the port. Alternatively, you could rent a car at the airport and keep it until the morning of the cruise. Take the family to the terminal and drop off everyone and the luggage. Afterwards, just go the rental car location and take their free shuttle to the port. I really don't have any hotel recommendations for Port Canaveral, as we prefer to stay on-site at WDW.

A fish extender is a pouch or pouches that hang from the fish next to your room door. Every room has a pewter looking fish next to the door that sticks out from the wall about an inch or so. With the hanging pouches, other DISers can leave you goodies. Here's a picture of our fish extender and a close-up of the fish:

TEST: Testing a potential logo. I'll keep working on it. I don't like the star effect but it's my 3 minute attempt.

I've also heard about the birthday gift certificate in lieu of park admission. DH will turn 55 (yikes!) while we are at Disney World in May and I'm excited to find out what happens. I was planning to have his birthday dinner at Jiko since we've always wanted to eat there and will be staying at AKL (for the first time). Has anyone NOT had a good meal at Jiko? We usually stay at the GF, the CR or the Poly...are we going to regret being so far away from everything?

I've been trying to think of some logo ideas, but so far I've got nothing spectacular. Several Dis-ers from our last cruise had tee shirts made that looked really good.
